West of I-5, cities like Eugene stand as the liberal heartlands of Oregon. Known for its progressive values, Eugene is a place where alternative lifestyles thrive. From embracing the cannabis culture to its notable LGBTQ+ community, it's a city that wears its heart on its sleeve.

The Traditional Values of Eastern Oregon

On the flip side, East of I-5, you'll find communities that hold dear to traditional American values. Flags fly high, and the spirit of patriotism is evident. These folks value property rights and have a deep-seated desire for personal freedom and autonomy.

A Personal Encounter in Salem

During a recent grocery trip in Salem, I met a gentleman from Eastern Oregon. His t-shirt, emblazoned with "Guns, God, and Glory," caught the ire of a local. This brief encounter highlighted the stark differences in values and beliefs between the two sides of Oregon.

In conclusion, Oregon is a state of contrasts. Whether you lean left or right, there's a place for you here. But at the end of the day, respect and understanding are what truly matter.
