Shownotes

Welcome back to another episode of The D Shift. I had the opportunity to sit down with Michael Cohen, an accomplished divorce mediator who brings a wealth of experience and a compassionate approach to the table. Michael, who initially started his career as a CPA, has transitioned into a role he's genuinely passionate about, and that is helping parents navigate the often challenging waters of divorce while keeping the focus on minimizing conflict for the sake of their children.

Michael's journey through a challenging, litigation-heavy divorce inspired him to become a mediator, and he's now dedicated to offering a healthier, more amicable path forward for divorcing couples. Throughout our conversation, Michael sheds light on the significant emotional and financial advantages of choosing mediation over litigation. He emphasizes the importance of education and understanding your options as you begin the divorce process and explains how the mediator's role differs fundamentally from that of an attorney.

We explore practical strategies for creating customized parenting schedules that fit your family's unique needs, the value of co-parenting in providing stability for your children, and the emotional benefits of maintaining communication and collaboration with your ex-spouse. Michael also shares his unique approach to mediation, which includes thorough pre-sessions to ensure both parties are informed and comfortable and the importance of being transparent and fair.

Whether you're contemplating divorce or already in the midst of it, this episode is full of insights that could help you navigate your journey with less stress, lower costs, and more clarity. So, grab a seat and join us as we explore how mediation can redefine your divorce experience.
