Shownotes

Editor Mickey Conlon is joined by associate editor Quinton Amundson and reporter Luke Mandato for an episode brought to you by Chalice Canada, with the team welcoming special guest Allan Smith, director of the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Mission Society of Canada. Smith reflects firsthand on the powerful sights, sounds, and emotions of Archbishop Fulton Sheen’s beatification last week in St. Louis, an experience he says will stay with him for years to come. He also shares what’s next for him and the Mission Society now that Sheen has been declared Blessed, along with his hopes and predictions for a swift canonization in the years to come. Mandato reports on the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi, sharing his conversation with Friar Edward Debono, a Conventual Franciscan from Toronto, about the enduring legacy of “the Little Poor Man of Assisi.” Amundson provides an update on the Indigenous Reconciliation Fund, including the special collection taking place at Masses this weekend in support of the Canadian bishops’ $30-million commitment to reconciliation.
