Hello And Welcome Back To The Waffle-Free Storytelling Podcast!

This week marks the start of a WONDERFUL new adventure for the Waffle-Free Storytelling Podcast because we're welcoming our FIRST GUESTS!!!

Kicking us off is Tracey Konstant - sister and human being extraordinaire :-)

Here's the waffle... directly from Trace herself:

"Hello. The Famous Place For The Waffle...

Having always loved stories, story-telling, story-listening – I attended a couple of workshops by Dorian Haarhoff, a Namibian story guru. They were wonderful. I worked through one of his books, The Writer's Voice, and listened to his CD about a thousand times. He has done incredible work scouring traditional stories and building a collection, and some he created himself. He very warmly offers that his stories be retold and so I was delighted to share them often.

Thank you, Dorian. You were a major inspiration to me, and so often one of your light but deep stories will come to mind.

So, when Tina asked me to share a couple of stories on her fantastic podcast – which I sit in suspense for every week – I was blown away. Since any story I make up is utterly silly and about ten words long – it was Dorian to the rescue (we wouldn’t want a three-word story based on plate, roses and curtains that would go …. “She opened the curtains so that she could see the roses while she ate the toast on her plate. The end.” Yes, it is that bad!).

One of the things that has stayed with me from Dorian’s workshops is the idea that we find the story in the path – I picture it as a lantern on a forest path. The path is ours, the story finds us where we are. It isn’t a fixed thing. It isn’t the same story to me as it is to you. So I never try to interpret a story for anyone else or draw meaning except for myself on the day. All of these stories leave me with an insight of some sort. I hope they do the same for you.

I also noticed as the four stories came together that all the characters are male. I’m not sure what to say about that. Do I apologise? Do I say that I mean ‘human’ when I say ‘he’? Or are these all about our male energy, and there are other stories about our female side? I don’t have answers to that – just sitting with the question a bit though. What I do know is that, for me, they apply to all genders.

Much love, and thank you so so much, Tina, for your wonderful stories, and for the great honour of inviting me to come and play."
