here, think you're healthy, but you still feeling kind of tired, foggy, or inflamed.
Speaker:Well, this episode's gonna be a fun one.
Speaker:I have a duo with me here.
Speaker:We have Sarah Collins and Jessica Rafaeil.
Speaker:Both are working with MD Lifespan and they are here to show you their
Speaker:data, their toxin tests, and we're gonna talk it through what they
Speaker:learned, what they did about it.
Speaker:They both had two different approaches.
Speaker:We're gonna dive into how their different approaches, uh, worked, what
Speaker:they learned, and some of the results.
Speaker:So you can start to understand what happens when you understand your
Speaker:own data, when you have a toxin test and you see what's lurking inside of
Speaker:you, and then giving you a bunch of options on what to do past that point.
Speaker:So I urge you definitely go discover your own results.
Speaker:It's very simple.
Speaker:There's a toxin test and a talk that's available to you right now.
Speaker:Just go to the website.
Speaker:MD lifespan.com/toxin test.
Speaker:You can use the code Podcast 200.
Speaker:It's gonna knock off $200 from that toxin test.
Speaker:And this is the way you understand your data so you know what to
Speaker:do about what's inside of you.
Speaker:Alright, let's dive into this.
Speaker:It's gonna be a great one.
Speaker:There's some visuals, so make sure you're watching as well.
Speaker:Alright, see you then.
Speaker:Jessica, Sarah, it's awesome to have you both on the podcast.
Speaker:First time we're doing like a panel talk and this one's kind of,
Speaker:well, it is really fun because we chat all the time already because.
Speaker:You both work?
Speaker:Well, we all work for, uh, MD lifespan.
Speaker:So, um, we're getting kind of some inside scoop, but you guys both have
Speaker:different approaches to how you've been dealing with your toxin loads.
Speaker:So, um, I guess before we get into it, like starting with,
Speaker:I'm gonna start with Sarah.
Speaker:What, um, yeah, just, just a brief of your, um.
Speaker:The approach to toxins.
Speaker:I don't wanna like give it all away really quick, but like, just gimme
Speaker:like a 32nd brief and then I'll, I'll, we'll go to you, Jessica, and then
Speaker:I'm gonna also like, interject with something I've been up to as well.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:I. Wouldn't have been able to define toxins a year ago.
Speaker:I came from a pretty holistic background, yoga training, uh, clean
Speaker:eater, organic eater for the most part.
Speaker:But if you asked me what a toxin was, I would probably say drugs and alcohol.
Speaker:So,
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:um, I have learned quite a bit since working on the business
Speaker:Nice, and we'll get into kind of the, uh, I wouldn't say before and
Speaker:after, but your approach is different than what Jessica's been up to.
Speaker:So, Jessica, yeah.
Speaker:Let's, uh, go over to you.
Speaker:I was aware of like the toxin conversation.
Speaker:I would've considered myself someone who lived a generally low talk lifestyle,
Speaker:um, but didn't realize the connection.
Speaker:To, you know, toxins have to all sorts of illnesses and ailments.
Speaker:Um, and definitely had no idea that there was even a way to gauge the number
Speaker:of environmental toxins in my body.
Speaker:I was attracted to MD Lifespan because of the core mission and the idea of
Speaker:like raising awareness about toxins.
Speaker:But I've learned so much about individual toxins and places that
Speaker:they're hiding in my home and in my life that I didn't know before.
Speaker:what are the few things you've learned over the last, well,
Speaker:it's been like about a year-ish.
Speaker:I came into MD Lifespan in April of 2024, um, and was actually coming off of the
Speaker:wave of a pretty crazy health crisis.
Speaker:Um, I was losing vision in one of my eyes and.
Speaker:Went to a lot of specialists, nobody could figure out what was happening to me.
Speaker:Um, so I was very intrigued in finding a solution.
Speaker:And working with Dr.
Speaker:Paul Savage, I learned about the connection between toxins and
Speaker:inflammation and toxins and disease.
Speaker:Um, and how if you've got inflammation in your body, your
Speaker:body's just gonna go crazy.
Speaker:So the things that I learned, especially from taking my first toxin test were,
Speaker:you know, the toxins hiding in my food.
Speaker:Um, you know, I've always been a pretty clean eater, but there are clean
Speaker:foods out there that just have toxins.
Speaker:They have molds, they have, you know, all sorts of plastics riddled
Speaker:in them that I wasn't aware of.
Speaker:Um, and like beauty products, you know, I was in the process of cleaning
Speaker:up my beauty to what I thought were clean products, only to find out.
Speaker:They've still got a lot of pretty crazy endocrine disruptors.
Speaker:Didn't know what those were, had no idea that I was washing my body with soap
Speaker:that was killing me from the inside out.
Speaker:Yeah, so you definitely have done the, and I'll just say it here, you've been a lot
Speaker:more on the avoidance path, so like what's kind of cool here with you and Sarah,
Speaker:there's two different approaches here.
Speaker:So we're just kind of setting the scene here, walk everybody through it.
Speaker:Well, Sarah, uh, over to you with, uh, kind of the similar thing, like, are there
Speaker:a few things over the last, you know, uh, the span of time you've been at MDL,
Speaker:you know, MD Lifespan, what stands out in terms of toxins, what you've taken away
Speaker:and like shifted your thinking around.
Speaker:I would say it is not what you put in, it's what you take out.
Speaker:And so you think about avoidance, going to the grocery store, picking
Speaker:organic food, trying to pick.
Speaker:Natural products for my children.
Speaker:You know, I think as a, as a new mom, you certainly learn what's best for yourself
Speaker:through your children in, in a lot of cases, and from a avoidance standpoint.
Speaker:In my house, after I took my toxin test, I understood, wow, this mold is.
Speaker:In the home that I am in, we just bought this home.
Speaker:We're not moving to a new home, so we purchased the air purifiers
Speaker:that are now in each of our rooms.
Speaker:This home already had a reverse osmosis in the home, but
Speaker:we've had that upgraded since.
Speaker:So my therapies had to be a, a much more intensive and kind
Speaker:of start at the ground level.
Speaker:That's, I mean, you nailed the big ones too, right?
Speaker:Or air and water, and of course food too, but it seems like, like would you.
Speaker:And with kids too.
Speaker:I'm just thinking because, you know, I've, I have a couple little ones and Yeah, you
Speaker:said new moms, so, I mean, it's like all these things, you're just like, oh my God,
Speaker:I gotta start the kids outright because they're just little sponges, right?
Speaker:Like for, for this stuff, if you're not addressing it from day one.
Speaker:what Paul has shared and the.
Speaker:New echo study about children being more toxic than their parents.
Speaker:You know, I, I saw that with both of my young children.
Speaker:I have a 5-year-old and a 3-year-old.
Speaker:the 3-year-old was more coy than the 5-year-old.
Speaker:And understanding going into having children, if I would've
Speaker:been able to do some of those small things just in my environment.
Speaker:How they could be impacted.
Speaker:Well, environment, and I think that's a big thing that, you know, we talked
Speaker:about, I guess environment, meaning the location of where you live.
Speaker:Yeah, I'm kind of curious of your thoughts there and, and, and also just
Speaker:what's in your home like, because it's the stuff we can control, but we don't
Speaker:really, I don't feel like we understand it until we see our own data, like our
Speaker:toxin data, you know, the actual numbers.
Speaker:So, um, yeah.
Speaker:Any, any thoughts on that, on like location base and, and, and how
Speaker:that might have played into each of your, you know, toxin loads after
Speaker:you figured out what's in you?
Speaker:growing up I went to a cabin in the woods, majority of my summers that didn't
Speaker:see the light of day in the winter.
Speaker:So the mold existing there.
Speaker:The mold existing in the homes that I've lived in.
Speaker:I live in Wisconsin and Milwaukee, and the home I'm in now is
Speaker:more than a hundred years old.
Speaker:It's beautiful on the outside.
Speaker:Uh, the pipes are lead, there's asbestos in the walls, so it's, it's a matter of,
Speaker:you know, being close to the city and living in an old home or moving half an
Speaker:hour outta the city for a newer residence.
Speaker:And Jessica, I know you're in like a totally different
Speaker:kind of environment, right?
Speaker:Yeah, I'm smack dab in the heart of Atlanta, um, in the middle of the city.
Speaker:So we have a lot of air pollution.
Speaker:Um, you know, there's a cars everywhere and industrial activities, so it's
Speaker:really hard to escape unless you go, you know, up to the mountains.
Speaker:But I grew up in Florida, um, and, you know, there's so much going on
Speaker:there with the water and everything.
Speaker:So I think just going from that kind of environment to a big
Speaker:city and kind of being inundated with toxins in my environment.
Speaker:But you do a pretty dang good job from what I've understood so far.
Speaker:We'll get into it.
Speaker:Um, Jess, let's start there because like, I wanna talk about the toxin test.
Speaker:'cause you, you shared, both of you shared yours with me.
Speaker:Uh, Jessica, you have two of 'em.
Speaker:It's kinda like this before and after, but.
Speaker:You know, like what's the, I guess what was your first reaction as when you first
Speaker:saw your toxin load and like, I guess, yeah, initial reaction and also what were
Speaker:the things that you started to focus on?
Speaker:Gut reaction was I was shocked and I was scared, and.
Speaker:You know, we can show my results from the first test that I
Speaker:did about a year ago already.
Speaker:Um, which.
Speaker:In retrospect, looking at like the clients that we treat was not as bad.
Speaker:Um, I was kind of in that middle yellow, high yellow area.
Speaker:The toxin test kind of score you from green to red, green being
Speaker:good, red being really, really bad.
Speaker:So I was in that, I was living in that yellow space.
Speaker:Um, so I was approached with, you know, you've got the toxins.
Speaker:They're starting to wreak ha on your body and if you don't do anything
Speaker:now you're gonna end up in that red space and it's gonna be a lot harder.
Speaker:Um.
Speaker:I was really shocked to see like mycotoxins and mold, that to me, I
Speaker:just, I didn't really register, you know, the exposure to things like that.
Speaker:Um, you know, I grew up in Florida, hurricane season, a lot of, you know,
Speaker:wet damp walls and flooding that happens.
Speaker:Um, and I felt really overwhelmed.
Speaker:You know, initially when I first saw it, because I started to spiral.
Speaker:I was like.
Speaker:Well, I have to do everything to get rid of these plastics and these BPAs,
Speaker:and I'm, you know, running through my house, just throwing things into
Speaker:the trash can because, you know, they're all toxic, everything's toxic.
Speaker:I think once I was able to really kind of, one, take a beat and understand
Speaker:that everybody has toxins and there's really no way of escaping this,
Speaker:especially in the world that we live in.
Speaker:And two, there was an opportunity to move forward in a different way.
Speaker:So, you know, I didn't have to change my life in one night.
Speaker:That was gonna be impossible.
Speaker:But chipping away at things slowly, you know, taking a few
Speaker:weeks to kind of absorb one thing.
Speaker:You know, maybe I focus this week on eliminating all of my, you know,
Speaker:laundry detergent and switching over to clean laundry detergent and then
Speaker:moving to the bathroom and then, making sure that I wash all of my produce.
Speaker:Um.
Speaker:Changing my diet was a really big thing.
Speaker:You know, I didn't fully eliminate a lot of stuff, but I scaled back.
Speaker:You know, I, I'm a big rice eater.
Speaker:I grew up in a Puerto Rican family.
Speaker:Rice and beans was a staple in our house.
Speaker:Um, so, you know, cutting back on rice, because it is a source of
Speaker:arsenic, it is a source of mold.
Speaker:Um, switching up my coffee DA again, Puerto Rican household,
Speaker:daily coffee drinker.
Speaker:Um, that was not gonna go away.
Speaker:So I found, you know, some options that do third party
Speaker:testing, things of that nature.
Speaker:And then as Paul always mentions, you know, air and water, so we went from
Speaker:drinking in plastic water bottles to only drinking reverse osmosis bottles
Speaker:and BPA free plastic or glass bottles.
Speaker:that was a huge thing in my house.
Speaker:And then.
Speaker:Finding ways to detox on my own.
Speaker:I was not fortunate enough to have an MD lifespan clinic in Atlanta yet.
Speaker:Um, so for me it was relying on the avoidance tactics and my own,
Speaker:repairing my own detoxification process inside of my body.
Speaker:yeah.
Speaker:You've done it without TPE and I don't want cat outta the bag yet of, but
Speaker:like, how many toxins did you have?
Speaker:And, and kind of like where, and we'll, we'll show it on screen
Speaker:here, but Yeah, just from how you could describe it from your
Speaker:Yeah, I had about 10 that were, you know, in the semi problematic range.
Speaker:Um, and a lot of it was, you know, uh, pesticides, BPAs, and mycotoxins.
Speaker:Um, and in 12 months through avoidance and other detoxification protocols
Speaker:that are, you know, supported by MD lifespan protocols, um, I was
Speaker:able to bring that down to two
Speaker:Geez.
Speaker:they're like right at the end of yellow.
Speaker:So I'm just out of the green area.
Speaker:So,
Speaker:what are the two that left over?
Speaker:yeah, so one of them is a pesticide, so D-M-T-P-I think is the, the big one.
Speaker:Um.
Speaker:And the other one is actually a byproduct.
Speaker:Uh, it's a protein byproduct, uh, that my body just synthesizes on its own,
Speaker:and that's just a matter of focusing on mitochondrial health, um, cellular repair.
Speaker:That's the TG one.
Speaker:I
Speaker:yeah.
Speaker:Yeah, that one.
Speaker:That's impressive.
Speaker:Don't ask me to say it, but yeah, that one.
Speaker:No, and this is why I'm like, and I'm not, we're obviously not Dr. Savage.
Speaker:We're not gonna interpret all of this stuff, and there's a lot of data.
Speaker:Big thing is know your data and, um, shameless plug, but not shameless
Speaker:at all, but go get your data, y'all like, basically at the end
Speaker:of the day, the toxin test is what got you this initial data, right?
Speaker:So you can actually understand where you're starting at.
Speaker:That's why there's a whole toxin test and talk.
Speaker:So it's not only understanding your numbers or getting your numbers,
Speaker:you're talking with someone from MD Lifespan to actually go through and
Speaker:interpret the data and next steps.
Speaker:Makes it a little less scary, which is also very important.
Speaker:You might get the shock factor, like my wife Heather just talked to Dr.
Speaker:Savage today about hers, and I'm like, oh, wow.
Speaker:And totally new awareness.
Speaker:And I think it just, it puts the, the blinders on the focus.
Speaker:So definitely go get yours at, uh, md lifespan.com/toxin test.
Speaker:And there's a $200 code that if you use Podcast 200, podcast 200 as a little
Speaker:coupon code, it'll knock off 200 bucks.
Speaker:So.
Speaker:Um, do it because I don't think we've shouted out at coupon code on the podcast.
Speaker:We've, we've talked about the toxin test, but that's why is, you know, know your
Speaker:data first and it's the same exact one Jessica, that you're talking about here.
Speaker:Sarah, over to you.
Speaker:I wanna, I wanna talk about like your shaking your head.
Speaker:Well,
Speaker:Jess had 10 in the yellow.
Speaker:I have 15 in the yellow and 10 in the red.
Speaker:So we look at 109 different toxins within four categories.
Speaker:So the definition of toxins, it falls into one of those four categories, mycotoxins,
Speaker:which is mold that Jess already went over.
Speaker:Environmental toxins, herbicides, pesticides, Roundup.
Speaker:You know, I used to be a gardener before I had kids.
Speaker:Um, forever, forever chemicals.
Speaker:So that's the PFAS and the BPA.
Speaker:And after that we look at the heavy metals, which is aluminum.
Speaker:You know, I just switched from deodorant and antiperspirant, which
Speaker:is aluminum to just regular deodorant.
Speaker:That was rough, I had 10 in the high critical range.
Speaker:And if you go back to the stoplight of, you know, yellow, green, red,
Speaker:10 in the red is, is pretty scary.
Speaker:So overall, out of the 109 that we measure for, I have 25 in the critical range
Speaker:So what was your reaction when you got your data and where
Speaker:did your brain go to focus?
Speaker:I just wanted to know more about each of the categories.
Speaker:You know, I understood that, you know, mold spores could be bad to breathe in.
Speaker:I understood that, you know, you weren't supposed to it.
Speaker:Eat fish with mercury.
Speaker:Uh, you know, there's all been tidbits of information over my past.
Speaker:You know, I only ate fish for nine years and following the research around that
Speaker:and to eat, you know, wild versus farmed, it was just starting to knock off.
Speaker:New pieces of information that I didn't have before.
Speaker:Obviously understanding what BPA risks are and you know, the, the whole
Speaker:shift of BPA free coming to light, it was clearly a reason for that.
Speaker:But what I didn't understand is how your body harnesses those toxins
Speaker:and creates an environment that is garbage for you to live within.
Speaker:You know, I just thought, well, I'm tired in the afternoon because I've
Speaker:got little kids and because I'm getting older or you know, I can't
Speaker:remember this person's name or this.
Speaker:Story because of those reasons too.
Speaker:Well, turns out that's that's not true.
Speaker:It's because of what's happening all in here in my body.
Speaker:Totally.
Speaker:Well, and you brought up, it's interesting, I don't know if we have
Speaker:the answers, but everybody's body is different, you know, and, and how we detox
Speaker:and so it's, and obviously environmental location, where we live, what's in our
Speaker:house, like there's so many factors.
Speaker:I guess when you get the data, it's like, one thing is don't beat
Speaker:yourself up because anyone who gets this done, I hope you do.
Speaker:It's, it's, at least it's a starting point of knowing where to go and,
Speaker:and the actions that follow that, you know, it's your choice on how to do it.
Speaker:And you know, Sarah, you did TPE recently, so I definitely want to talk about like.
Speaker:What you did after you started learning.
Speaker:So like, maybe go there and then Jessica will go back to you on your approach of
Speaker:more of the avoidance and some of these other non-TPE ways of ridding toxins.
Speaker:Yeah, with the evaluation that I had with Dr. Savage, he walked me through
Speaker:the test and explained the areas of toxins that I wasn't familiar with.
Speaker:When you get the test back, it, it's still, I can't pronounce half of the
Speaker:toxins on this thing and I don't plan to ever, um, but, you know, having Dr. Savage
Speaker:as a research source, walking me through and explaining to me I needed five TPEs
Speaker:or, you know, five sessions in the chair, plus avoidance, plus the IV nutrients,
Speaker:plus the supplementation, which.
Speaker:also leads to the potential to have exosomes down the road.
Speaker:Those are the four pieces that set our protocols apart.
Speaker:It's not just, you know, being in the chair and having your blood
Speaker:removed and the plasma discarded.
Speaker:It's, it's all of that whole piece together.
Speaker:So, you know, going into the one plasma exchange appointment,
Speaker:my first one, I was scared.
Speaker:I am.
Speaker:Uh,
Speaker:very much a wimp when it comes to medical experiences.
Speaker:Uh, not my favorite, that's why I didn't go into healthcare.
Speaker:I love helping people, but I'd, I'd rather be able to, you know, display it and, and
Speaker:make it easy to understand versus, you know, get in, get in there with my hands.
Speaker:So I was scared.
Speaker:I was scared and I was shocked at how easy it went and how great I felt after.
Speaker:You, you, you were actually the one I was saying was a day before I got mine done.
Speaker:'cause it was just a week ago at the time of this recording, you're
Speaker:like, the needles were fine.
Speaker:The needles were fine.
Speaker:And you're right, they were fine.
Speaker:Like, like I had no problem with that because that was the thing
Speaker:I was gonna worried about too.
Speaker:But yeah, with each session of TPE, 'cause I think I, I have, I'll be
Speaker:doing three, you'll be doing five.
Speaker:But like, what hap it's not just sitting in the chair and essentially
Speaker:cycling your blood and removing the plasma and all that, but it's like,
Speaker:yeah, there's IV nutrient depending on the type of protocol you're getting.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:Um, there.
Speaker:All this other stuff.
Speaker:The, the clean supplement, like I just finished mine.
Speaker:And, um, there's some other stuff that, I'm sure they're all different,
Speaker:but I don't know if you can break that down a little bit more just
Speaker:so it's a little bit more clear.
Speaker:It's like, yeah, there's not, it's not just do this five
Speaker:times and then you're done.
Speaker:It's kind of this whole regimen that's happening.
Speaker:Sure.
Speaker:So if you think about the five sessions that I need to get my 25.
Speaker:High critical toxins out.
Speaker:The reason for the five is because the toxins live in your blood.
Speaker:If you think about how much tissue and muscle you have in your body
Speaker:compared to how much blood blood's on the smaller percentage, so.
Speaker:The blood is the carrier of your toxins in the plasma.
Speaker:So once that is removed and discarded, the albumin that comes back in and
Speaker:allows your body to regenerate the cells and create clean plasma becomes
Speaker:a sponge for all of the other toxins that are sitting in your body.
Speaker:in the four weeks in between when you have your first.
Speaker:Session in the chair to when you have your second four weeks is the soonest you can
Speaker:do it because you want all of those toxins to come back into the blood you're doing.
Speaker:You're starting with your avoidance.
Speaker:So for me it was investing in the air purifiers.
Speaker:Which I bought the germ guardian ones.
Speaker:I, we have six of 'em, but it was like a thousand dollars investment.
Speaker:Um, throwing away all of the, the plastics, cutting boards, kids' cups,
Speaker:you know, getting titanium, cutting boards and, and then having, we had,
Speaker:uh, the water testers come back out and.
Speaker:Where I live, the water is great.
Speaker:They look, they showed me on a scale, it was like red to green kind of thing.
Speaker:My city water is, was just above the green and my, and my reverse osmosis water.
Speaker:So, so let's say it was 10,000 on the chart.
Speaker:The city water was 140.
Speaker:My reverse osmosis water was 10.
Speaker:In terms of, so, you know, great.
Speaker:Which is, uh, so those are the things I did within the first month Avoidance.
Speaker:So that's kind of the, the one additional out of the four pillars
Speaker:that we have as part of our protocol.
Speaker:It's understanding what is it in your home and our nurses.
Speaker:Walk you through that while you're in the chair talking about where do
Speaker:you live, what are your exposures?
Speaker:How to get rid of 'em.
Speaker:How to get rid of them over time.
Speaker:Beauty products, as Jess mentioned, huge as well.
Speaker:Um, understanding we are.
Speaker:Recommending Goop as the beauty product to, uh, all non-toxic free.
Speaker:So starting to swap some of those things out.
Speaker:And then the supplementation, like you mentioned with the MDL Clean, that is
Speaker:a patented nutrient powder that you take every day to start to replenish
Speaker:all of what was taken out during your.
Speaker:Your body's detox process and it allows you to continue to
Speaker:detox while you're taking it.
Speaker:The IV nutrients that comes in right at the end of the therapy to
Speaker:bring you back to baseline based on what they took out, what you were
Speaker:experiencing, and what your body needs.
Speaker:In the next four weeks, and, uh, because I'm in my first session, we
Speaker:aren't doing any stem cells or exosomes at this point, but that's the, the
Speaker:fourth piece that comes later down the road with additional sessions.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:That, that MDL clean is like.
Speaker:That's beefy.
Speaker:It's got a lot of stuff in there.
Speaker:I looked, I was like, whoa.
Speaker:Like it's impressive.
Speaker:Yeah, and Dr. Savage walks you through, you know, what other
Speaker:supplementation are you on?
Speaker:You have to stop this and this because with this doc, this clean, you can't
Speaker:take certain supplements anymore.
Speaker:So it's all, you know, medically backed and checked and just
Speaker:gives you a peace of mind.
Speaker:No, it's, it's awesome.
Speaker:And I feel it after I have it too.
Speaker:I'm like, you know, it's just, you loaded up with all the good stuff and,
Speaker:and like I said, it's replenishing and it's still detox, and that's what
Speaker:I have to remind myself all the time.
Speaker:It's like, I'm not just like, oh, in the chair done.
Speaker:Uh, it's like, no, there's a, it's a process and this is literally months of
Speaker:detoxing that our bodies are feeling.
Speaker:Uh, really quick before Jessica, how did you feel after your
Speaker:TPE session, Sarah, and like.
Speaker:Maybe like a week or like what are the after effects, because it's
Speaker:a little different the day after,
Speaker:Yeah, coming right out of the session, I felt good.
Speaker:I felt tired, but good.
Speaker:Um, I drove from Chicago home.
Speaker:I had somebody drive me so that I didn't have, I could just kind of zone out.
Speaker:Um, I slept really well that night really well, and then I woke up in the morning.
Speaker:I was like, oh, I'm smarter than I was yesterday.
Speaker:And I, I just felt more alert.
Speaker:I felt eager, I felt this just drive to want more.
Speaker:And since you're right, I'm working with a integrative physician here in
Speaker:Milwaukee that's helping me with other avoidance and supplementation to keep
Speaker:my body detoxing and support the detox.
Speaker:Um, just other things that I have going on with my body, my hip, I'm looking at some.
Speaker:Regenerative therapies there instead of a hip replacement, and you, I can feel
Speaker:that it's getting better just by knowing I have less inflammation in my body.
Speaker:It's wild.
Speaker:That's the key bit because yeah, it's, I mean, we've had so many
Speaker:people talk about it's the root of all the diseases, essentially.
Speaker:So getting that under, under wrap.
Speaker:Well, Jessica, I wanna talk about your approach.
Speaker:So completely different approach.
Speaker:Well, not completely, but you know, no TPE involved.
Speaker:So I guess, what were the next steps that you took right after your test?
Speaker:I'll preface by saying, you know, before I started learning about toxins and I
Speaker:was very familiar with the idea of detox, um, at a very limited capacity, but I
Speaker:viewed detox as more of like a seasonal, cyclical kind of thing, you know, like
Speaker:I would do my juice cleanses every year.
Speaker:Every new season or, um, you know, spend a week eating just
Speaker:plant-based foods or things like that.
Speaker:But learning my toxin load and just everything that's out there
Speaker:really changed my mindset to detoxification as a lifestyle.
Speaker:Um, so how can I really incorporate detox into my everyday life?
Speaker:Um, so there's, you know, the avoidance.
Speaker:Swapping, doing all the swaps, um, drinking the clean water, clean,
Speaker:cleaning your air, all of those things.
Speaker:And then there's supporting your own detox pathways, right?
Speaker:Which, you know, if you're doing TPE if you're dealing with chronic
Speaker:inflammation, those detox pathways are likely very sluggish, right?
Speaker:And, you know, you could stop everything that you're doing and spend the rest of
Speaker:your life in a bpa, a free plastic bubble.
Speaker:But you're not gonna be able to eliminate the toxins the way that you want to.
Speaker:Um, so I started real simple, you know, lymphatic drainage, massage, massages.
Speaker:There's a lot of great videos out there about the six point
Speaker:self, you know, drainage massage.
Speaker:So incorporating that into my morning and evening routine.
Speaker:Um, another big one.
Speaker:This is a big one, and we've started incorporating it into our
Speaker:protocols as well as IR saunas.
Speaker:Um, I made a commitment, almost a religious one, um, to do
Speaker:saunas ir saunas every week.
Speaker:I do three times a week.
Speaker:I've been doing that for a year, and I really do credit that as a huge component
Speaker:into being able to eliminate a lot of the heavy metals that I had in my body.
Speaker:Um, so that was a, a huge thing.
Speaker:It is an investment, but there's different options out there.
Speaker:And you go somewhere it's like not
Speaker:your
Speaker:somewhere
Speaker:Yeah,
Speaker:I live in the city, so I have a couple sauna options in my
Speaker:neighborhood, which was really nice.
Speaker:Um, so if you have that available to you, I highly recommend it.
Speaker:Um, it's great just for mind, body, and spirit.
Speaker:I'm a big advocate.
Speaker:It's, yeah, my, uh, my zen moment.
Speaker:Um, and then just I think like really influencing, you know, the people around
Speaker:me, you know, my mom, my boyfriend, like getting them on the same page and.
Speaker:You know, cleaning out our kitchens together and um, you know, making sure
Speaker:that we're all kind of living this toxic toxin avoidance lifestyle, um, to really,
Speaker:you know, eliminate the toxins and avoid re-exposure, which is a big, big thing.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:I know you've, like, you even said like there's a lot of supplements and things
Speaker:that you've taken for a long time.
Speaker:Well, when, when I got the toxin test back, um, you know, Dr.
Speaker:Savage's recommendation was, you don't need TPE at this time.
Speaker:You'll be okay.
Speaker:But there are some things that you can do in the immediate, in addition to,
Speaker:you know, the clean food and water.
Speaker:Um, and one of those things was, uh, activated charcoal, which is a binder.
Speaker:So, um, it's been really effective too, in combination with the IR sauna.
Speaker:So you're.
Speaker:You're releasing all of these toxins out of your sweat and they're going
Speaker:through your gut, um, as well.
Speaker:So being able to take a binder that can clinging to those toxins and make sure
Speaker:that they do fully come out of your body, um, was another thing that I, I did, I do
Speaker:that sporadically, so I'll do it like for a few weeks and then I'll take a few weeks
Speaker:off and then I'll do it for a few weeks.
Speaker:when do you take it?
Speaker:take it at night.
Speaker:I, I've, I've heard different things on like best times to take it, but.
Speaker:Um, the literature that Paul shared with me said, you know, take it at night.
Speaker:That should be okay.
Speaker:Got it.
Speaker:Nice.
Speaker:Yeah, I have some of that.
Speaker:I'm like, but I haven't really been on it.
Speaker:I don't know if now's the time.
Speaker:I will definitely research before
Speaker:I think it's also worth mentioning.
Speaker:Um, another big component was working with an MD lifespan nutritionist.
Speaker:Um, that's another, you know, bonus area with working with MD Lifespan.
Speaker:Being an MD Lifespan patient is, you have access to not only these toxicologists
Speaker:and these TPE specialists, but specialists in all these different areas that are
Speaker:there to advise you and guide you.
Speaker:Um, so not being able to access TPE at the time, I really had to rely on
Speaker:my, you know, food and changing that.
Speaker:And the way you eat, the way you supplement your body also
Speaker:supports your detox system.
Speaker:So, you know, making sure that you're getting your omega
Speaker:threes, your vitamins were up.
Speaker:Um, those were all really big components in, in my lifestyle
Speaker:changes over the last year as well.
Speaker:what are some things that have maybe popped up or have been like
Speaker:difficult in terms of the avoidance?
Speaker:Maybe it's like outside pressure, like your boyfriend, your mom and family, and
Speaker:just going out to eat.
Speaker:Like are there a few things that you found kinda slip in or just
Speaker:sort of like pain points you're just like that, you know, can't get
Speaker:past this for whatever reason.
Speaker:I I cringe at having to buy a coffee in a plastic cup now.
Speaker:You know, that's something that is like, I still do it from time to time.
Speaker:I'm human.
Speaker:Um, you know, I give myself grace, but, you know, it's, it's something I
Speaker:wouldn't have thought of before, you
Speaker:know.
Speaker:you're talking like the to-go cup
Speaker:Like yeah.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Um, which are coated in plastics.
Speaker:If you think about a paper cup holding hot coffee, um, the only way that that's
Speaker:possible is if it's coated in something that does not want to break down.
Speaker:And,
Speaker:you're also drinking through a lid that's plastic and is scolding hot,
Speaker:uh huh.
Speaker:nobody wants to be that annoying friend out at dinner.
Speaker:You know, that's like, I'm sorry, I can't have the sushi tonight.
Speaker:Or, you know, sorry.
Speaker:Is, is your tea served in plastic bags or is it freshly brewed?
Speaker:You know, I don't want to be the, the pompous friend, but noticing those
Speaker:things in my life and just being aware.
Speaker:But it's also about balance.
Speaker:You know, the reality is toxins are everywhere.
Speaker:They're in our environment.
Speaker:Um.
Speaker:And if you can make a one-to-one swap every week, you know
Speaker:you're on the right track.
Speaker:True.
Speaker:It's almost impossible to live in this world without, you know, consuming toxins
Speaker:or being exposed to them at some point.
Speaker:So you gotta give yourself grace.
Speaker:You gotta find what works for you, what you know feels authentic for
Speaker:you, what fits into your lifestyle.
Speaker:Um.
Speaker:I'm lucky, you know, I, my boyfriend and I are very health conscious,
Speaker:so it's easy for us to implement these changes in our home.
Speaker:Um, if that wasn't the case, it'd be a lot harder.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:For sure.
Speaker:Um, but yeah, you know, it's, you gotta give yourself grace.
Speaker:You gotta do what you can.
Speaker:And, um, if you're lucky enough to do TPE, that's awesome.
Speaker:Do it because it is the one unbiased, you know, mechanism that
Speaker:allows for a body to reset and.
Speaker:There's really nothing out there like it.
Speaker:And to be able to work with doctors and a company that is, you know,
Speaker:they're all truly dedicated to the betterment of their patients.
Speaker:Something you don't find in traditional medicine these days, um, you
Speaker:know, that's, that's a huge thing.
Speaker:And detox was not a data thing for me.
Speaker:That was, you know, you do a juice cleanse for seven days.
Speaker:I feel great.
Speaker:I have good energy.
Speaker:My skin looks amazing, you know?
Speaker:These little metrics that you convince yourself that are gauging your progress.
Speaker:But to actually be able to see the numbers and to know that, you
Speaker:know, I went from here to here by doing these things is so much more
Speaker:impactful than a weak juice cleanse to
Speaker:And, and it what you took it from, what was it?
Speaker:10 I think
Speaker:yeah, it was
Speaker:to two.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:And what, what was the timeframe in between those tests?
Speaker:It was about 12 months on the
Speaker:12 months.
Speaker:Dang.
Speaker:That's crazy.
Speaker:Like,
Speaker:that's so, yeah.
Speaker:Okay, cool.
Speaker:And again, but that's not, it's not gonna be the case for everybody if you
Speaker:did say everybody's body's different,
Speaker:yeah.
Speaker:Genetics play a huge factor.
Speaker:A lot of people don't know what their detox genes are, um, what they
Speaker:look like if they're malfunctioning.
Speaker:So that's,
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:you know, something that the protocols really take into, into effect.
Speaker:They wanna look at how your body's operating, what your
Speaker:personalized situation is.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Well, Sarah, I wanna, I want to hear what your, maybe some hiccups along
Speaker:the way, or maybe some, uh, you know, family members, obviously kids too.
Speaker:I'm, I'm kind of curious what the outside pressure has done to you so far.
Speaker:It's definitely the food.
Speaker:Food with my children, uh, the snacks and the school lunches, and shout out to
Speaker:the Yuka app because it's just changed.
Speaker:The, going back to data, having a metric that shows you the value of the food.
Speaker:I'm not someone who's, you know, not gonna purchase a Yuka product that's in the red
Speaker:because there's too much sodium or fat.
Speaker:That is what it is.
Speaker:But when I look at a Yuka rating and I see that, you know, there's five
Speaker:or six high toxic additives that I'm not gonna buy, um, I have been on
Speaker:a journey with my children trying to get them to like the, you know,
Speaker:toxin-free food, and it is not easy.
Speaker:It's been very
Speaker:difficult.
Speaker:yeah, I mean, I'm dealing with the same stuff here too, but like are there
Speaker:some big sweeping changes you've done food wise with kids that have, like are
Speaker:they starting to get it or are there things that they're, I guess they're
Speaker:liking a little bit more than others
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:You know, I the kind.
Speaker:Granola bars.
Speaker:We buy, we buy those, you know, we use Costco for as much, you know,
Speaker:whole food type, prepackaged, like applesauce, crackers that we can get.
Speaker:But yeah, they're young.
Speaker:They all just wanna eat a box of Ritz for dinner.
Speaker:And it's, um, I, that was the biggest aha for me is the garbage that is in.
Speaker:Goldfish and granola bars and cereal and everything that as a new parent,
Speaker:you're encouraged to buy your children.
Speaker:You know, I always knew go to the perimeter of the grocery store for
Speaker:myself, and as soon as I had kids, I was like, well, that's not gonna work.
Speaker:So yeah, been a journey.
Speaker:the Yuka app, I think that's a big one.
Speaker:I totally, I have the app and I'm like, I don't always think to use it, but yeah.
Speaker:YUKA it's right.
Speaker:like, yeah, you just scan something if it has a label and boom, you have
Speaker:like a clear picture of no go or, okay.
Speaker:And yeah, and I know in the guidebooks for MD lifespan, which
Speaker:are a ton of awesome guidebooks, so definitely go to md lifespan.com.
Speaker:I don't know the exact URL, maybe do either of you.
Speaker:And forward slash guidebooks.
Speaker:I kind of assume so.
Speaker:But yeah, go there and look through because there's a whole bunch of
Speaker:cool resources that you could dive in on, like exactly what we're talking.
Speaker:Just pick, pick.
Speaker:Which one feels right there.
Speaker:well, the.
Speaker:Kind of wrap it up.
Speaker:Uh, I'm, so the results, you know, it's interesting because, so, you
Speaker:know, Jessica, you shared, you took from like 10 toxins to two and
Speaker:obviously it's a lifelong journey.
Speaker:So like, it's not saying toxins will never come back in, you know, so avoidance and
Speaker:all this stuff you gotta stay up with.
Speaker:And Sarah, what, you have four more TPEs to go through and I, I want to make sure
Speaker:we get you back on the show throughout, maybe the course of that or at the end,
Speaker:whatever, we'll talk about it, but.
Speaker:We gotta get, see what these results.
Speaker:'cause I'm curious about myself too.
Speaker:You know, it's like,
Speaker:it's a
Speaker:to see
Speaker:your
Speaker:process.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Both of us.
Speaker:I know Sarah and I, you know, just, um, ' cause you know, I've talked
Speaker:through my results and had Dr. Savage on here, break mine down.
Speaker:We have very similar, I don't have mine pulled up, but like very similar.
Speaker:Lots of mold, lot of stuff in the red.
Speaker:I had like 20 something that were like pretty up there.
Speaker:So.
Speaker:Yeah, it's just in interesting journeys all around.
Speaker:I won't stress it enough, but go get your toxin test and talk,
Speaker:you know, just to get the data.
Speaker:At least you know where you're at.
Speaker:So, md lifespan.com/toxin test.
Speaker:Use the coupon code podcast 200.
Speaker:And, um, just, yeah, any final words for the episode.
Speaker:So, um, Sarah, I guess over to you.
Speaker:Just say no to toxins, my friends.
Speaker:It's so hard though.
Speaker:They're everywhere.
Speaker:They are everywhere.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Being awareness and then yeah, avoid as much as possible and, um, I think
Speaker:it's nice that we're bringing more out there and I think the awareness
Speaker:is becoming more of a thing.
Speaker:So hopefully the products will turn into that as well.
Speaker:Yeah,
Speaker:just, yeah.
Speaker:What You get it?
Speaker:focus on small steps.
Speaker:Focus on small steps.
Speaker:It's really overwhelming, um, especially when you do get your,
Speaker:your toxin score, your toxin load.
Speaker:Um, but little steps can make a difference.
Speaker:So it's a lifestyle change.
Speaker:Well, thank you both for like being super open and showing your results and stuff,
Speaker:because it's kind of like, Ooh, this is, you know, it's like, but it's wild.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:I think, um, just don't be hard on yourself.
Speaker:That's what I, I guess I'll, you know, I'll say it's baby steps.
Speaker:Empower others around you because, um, I, I, it's, it blows me away with friends and
Speaker:family that don't even just think of the.
Speaker:Uh, plastic water bottles like, like, you know, it's, or school lunches.
Speaker:There.
Speaker:You brought that up.
Speaker:Like, 'cause my, my daughter just started kindergarten and I look at this
Speaker:stuff in the school lunches and I'm just gonna put away the whole sugar and
Speaker:it's in everything which blows my mind.
Speaker:That's a whole nother subject.
Speaker:And food dyes.
Speaker:Yeah, My gosh.
Speaker:I'm like, ah, we won't go there.
Speaker:That's a whole nother topic.
Speaker:School, school stuff.
Speaker:Maybe Jessica, we gotta get an expert on, on the podcast for that.
Speaker:I would love to.
Speaker:But um, yeah, I feel like the more that we influence us around us, hopefully
Speaker:there's a positive ripple effect that, um, can turn the course of all this
Speaker:toxin stuff, at least in our own control.
Speaker:Alright.
Speaker:For sure.
Speaker:Thank you both for being awesome and being open and, uh, let's do this again.
Speaker:All right.
Speaker:Ready?
Speaker:you.
Speaker:let us know.
Speaker:Thank you.
Speaker:See you guys.
Speaker:Goodbye.
