at this point in the movie I'm like okay well here's here's what you should have done and I'm thinking yeah right it's

0:05

one of my favorite openings ever and I've watched that alternate ending and it is garbage it doesn't go where you

0:13

think it's going to go there's a monster I am I'm ready for it to be over well

0:18

but I'm not sure I can even fully explain why I love this movie so much I

0:24

had some issues to see uh my feelings on it have not changed I fell asleep until the

0:31

screaming this is actually where I started enjoying the movie this is one of my favorite scenes in all of Cinema I

0:38

thought that should have been cut completely well I'm sure it's artistic and you just don't get it all right here

0:45

we are fellowship with the real four friends and a movie uh this time it is nobody's pick uh strangely enough we uh

0:53

as a group uh went to a special event John cusac was in town uh Fort Worth

0:58

Texas and he did a a Q&A after a screening of one of his movies he's in

1:04

the movie we call I call it a John Cusack movie he he said he filmed it for he was on set about a week it's not a

1:10

John Cusack movie I think in the traditional sense in the sense that he's like the main guy Anthony Michael Hall and mly Ringwald are the main people uh

1:17

he is a minor character but he does have some screen time anyway but he was in town to do a Q&A after a screening of

1:25

that movie so that was very cool uh so that's what we're going to do we're going to review uh 16 Candles after

1:30

talking about our experiences at the Q&A and uh that's I say this is nobody's pick cuz we only well we eventually

1:36

probably would have reviewed this movie eventually maybe uh but except for John cusc coming to town we would not have

1:42

reviewed it uh at this time yeah definitely moved it to the front of the line I guess you'd say it was a special

1:48

thing it was really cool because how often does the last thing I did like that was Kevin Smith Kevin Smith did a

1:54

Q&A for Red State he ended up staying for three hours and answering every it

1:59

was like a six- hour event yeah he answered everybody's question and Kevin Smith is so verbose yeah that I was

2:08

enthralled I like oh my God it took forever to have him answer all these stories he told sure John cusc was a

2:14

little bit different yeah I would love to seeing Kevin Smith yeah it they were totally different uh John cusac that man

2:21

is a saint yeah I gotta say that very patient very patient man with the audience you know because they were

2:27

serving alcohol at that event yeah yeah that might have been a bad choice on the venues part well they got to make

2:34

their money considering some of those questions there's no way some of those people weren't you know feeling it sure

2:39

well I like I I started thinking about like rules of etiquette at one of these things don't be a [ __ ]

2:46

dumbass that's sort of the umbrella the the the main thing is don't don't be drunk when you ask a question okay

2:52

that's what I was going you got well I have the public service do your public service now I was just going to say if

2:57

if you attend one of these events with the you know question and answer thing is don't be drunk when you ask a

3:03

question yeah and then be nice the other thing is to please think carefully

3:08

before you speak yeah cuz I'm G to laugh at you or I'm going to really roll my

3:14

eyes at you and I don't know how John cusac didn't well he did say some things he

3:19

puts up with it because I mean as much as the movie this is also a a promotion of his brand and his and he can't well

3:27

yeah they put money in his pocket like I was saying is every person as far as I know paid at least 25 bucks to be in

3:34

there yeah we got the cheap seats and they were what 30 I can't remember yeah so just 25 is a nice round number they

3:41

were like 50 a piece were they 50 yeah I don't remember either way like 100 bucks

3:46

either way Mr the fees Mr Cusack was able to put money in his pocket to help

3:53

pay his taxes from California right and all that I'm glad he he's doing that and

3:58

it's a good way to make money but the people you know you pay your you pay your ticket price they feel that it's a

4:04

Q&A they get to get up there and just ask whatever unfortunately and I wanted

4:09

to say this to you all the other night people I love people but they're stupid

4:14

yeah yes and they confuse Mr cek Mr John cek with being every single character he's ever played in life I think they

4:22

think that him and Molly Ringwald hang out every day him and him and John Hughes texted every day John Hughes was

4:28

alive yes that and God bless Mr Cat because he tried to kind of tell him that hey I

4:35

worked on this movie for a week when I was 16 yeah right right he was still going to school I got remember still

4:40

yeah and like yeah I maybe maybe did one more John Hughes movie and he kind of

4:46

fell he did his own thing and people just think oh he was the brat pack he was they get him confused with and and

4:52

that's another thing I had a friend who asked um Corbin burnson about one of his

4:57

uh when she met him she asked him about one of his um co-stars on a show and he got angry you know you're there to meet

5:05

that person ask him questions about him yeah don't say who do you hang out with

5:11

you know well uh yeah so so my rules would be don't be drunk and don't ask

5:16

the stars for personal favors can I have a hug can I it it instantly creates like I felt on the spot for him now what do

5:22

you do right right cuz if you know some people are going to think you're a dick yeah sure yeah the first one got yes uh

5:28

how clever you got you got you were the first one to ask everybody else know yeah that was one of the few things I thought the moderator did well was all

5:35

right everybody knows the rules she was the first person to ask and she's the only one that's going to get a hug like he shut that down very quickly CU as

5:41

soon as qac you know like you said he was on the spot and he decided to be nice and give her a hug I'm like oh [ __ ] now everybody's going to want that it's

5:47

going to be a mess you know I'm not going to witness him get you know [ __ ] mobbed and what was the next lady that came up like two or three

5:53

later she wanted an autograph on they wanted and then two or three later was hey I heard you're not married it was

5:59

like well yeah there yeah so many like borderline proposals and just so much it

6:05

blew my mind and I guess I guess that's the only time I've been around something like that like I've been to Comic Cons and stuff but it's it's

6:11

very get your autograph or get your picture and get out it's a catle call you're in theot you're in a shoot you got 12 seconds go right where this BW my

6:19

mind and yeah maybe it was the alcohol I mean they should probably have a breath leser at the on the line when you go for your question sorry you blew over the

6:25

limit you that's what I told my girlfriend he needs to hand the breathalyzer to him and the microphone

6:30

well you have to blow under under had water he didn't even have alcohol like I would have wanted some to sit up there

6:36

and put up with that but people assume famili I I think they assume familiarity oh this is a famous star they're going

6:42

to love me right you know we're going to be best friends yeah like James said yeah you're the the guy from and that's

6:48

what one of them said is oh my God you're so down to earth you're everything I thought you'd be he's like I've been sitting here 5 minutes

6:54

answering [ __ ] questions yeah you don't know him you didn't go through something with him yeah how do you know

6:59

them yeah and y'all we saw the guy out in the parking lot the one who asked how to he wanted to go to Hollywood he

7:06

wanted to do and I was like okay he's a creeper she thought he was a i i well he he had

7:11

a quick little funny line he was the thing John CX again serious answer God

7:17

bless that man he answered him the right way stay here do what you're going to do find some friends make stuff you don't

7:25

have to go to Hollywood there's a lone star Film Society there's a screen groups both in Dallas and then there's

7:32

Fort Worth has got there's a there's there is a film industry and and it's I think it's becoming increasing yeah

7:37

there's a complex they're looking at building in mainfield $200 million or something stupid like there I mean if that goes

7:44

through and and I know Taylor Sheridan with Yellowstone films a lot of his [ __ ] here yeah oh absolutely Minal Wells

7:50

Tulsa King was Stallone just right up the road in Oklahoma so yes and and Sher sent that article I haven't

7:56

read it yet but there's this there is this consensus that big movies are sort of not what they used to be and that the

8:04

real action is in Independence and low budget like I think qack was exactly right uh get a camera get a script and

8:11

go make something and the idea that it has to be a tent pole I think everybody

8:16

wants to be a star yeah but the idea that you can't do something meaningful regionally or have it Go National and

8:24

still be independent I think is a misnomer I think I think that's where the excitement indep

8:30

independent is the way to go if you can get a thousand fans to pay you a hundred

8:36

bucks over the year yeah that's 100 Grand that is a living sure and you can

8:41

do independent things like that to a small grou like like John qac did he played in front of 3,000 people yeah

8:48

pocketed maybe 10 grand sure and he did it in three cities in Texas and he's

8:53

going on it's that small independent Spirit just making it work yeah and and

8:59

his advice yeah there's there's the festival circuit and all that where you could get uh and especially with all the streaming and everything and yeah I

9:07

think that some of the more honest and better stories are coming out independently probably than because

9:13

money is such an overriding Factor on on yeah you got to have some kind of money but thankfully everything's as

9:19

inexpensive as it can be now you can film a movie on an iPhone edit it in your I Suite or I don't have I iPhone

9:28

products but yeah no no the technology is there that wasn't before yeah hell I can make an album right here by myself

9:34

with my stuff yeah like you can make a movie it may not be great not saying my

9:40

album would great either but you could make it yeah I think that's where streaming in all honesty where streaming

9:46

is coming in as far as like to me like a good thing um cuz yeah they're just putting out so much content and you see

9:51

like before it was like you were a movie star or you were a TV star and if you were a movie star that then started

9:56

doing TV it was viewed as a negative like your career was going backwards and now you're on TV and doing TV movies and

10:03

stuff right now like you see so many stars doing streaming because I think the because they want to tell Original

10:09

Stories and the content and like that's where like yeah t TV or streaming the

10:14

streamers are putting out better stories than than Hollywood right now because it's most of Hollywood like you said

10:20

it's this tent pole and right now it's superhero [ __ ] yeah um yeah and and

10:25

and so I think I think qack was right on like that guy who I guess you have to have an idea of

10:32

of what your career will look like and apparently this guy thinks that Hollywood and the and the big movies are

10:38

his career but that is a hard nut to crack as a writer or anybody sure the

10:43

odds are you might astronomical yeah I mean qac said you can go to Hollywood and knock on doors if you want or yeah

10:49

you could stay here uh and I've always heard like some of the it it it sounds counter counterintuitive because uh it's

10:58

it doesn't feel like it's going to happen but the idea of you going to Hollywood they're just going to shut you

11:04

down but if you do something that attracts their attention they're going to be begging you sure and and paying

11:10

you for that product so I think create something and make them come to you is

11:15

almost you own it yeah you know you own your brand you own your idea your

11:20

intellectual property whatever it is and the the funny thing is is when that kid said I'm going to go out to Hollywood

11:27

and you know try to be a star the first the first thing that came to my mind was Always Sunny in Philadelphia yeah when

11:34

sweet D Reynolds just looks at him and goes the the kid they picked up a hitchhiker and The Hitchhiker's going to

11:40

Hollywood to be famous and she goes oh honey they're going to love your sweet

11:45

little body in gay porn well I hope he knows how to serve

11:50

tables weight tables cuz like they're just GNA chew you up and spit you out

11:55

you have that's not the plan kid not there's like like every CU it's the joke

12:01

every every waiter and and hotel uh you know has a script they're dropping

12:08

scripts and paper towel dispensers and uh setting it down with their tickets and their their Yeahs the Austin Film

12:16

Festival had a little bit of a snafu last competition because they got so many scripts into their competition they

12:22

had trouble reading and rating them all and apparently some didn't and so didn't

12:28

get or anything so they had to issue this apology and all that so yeah uh it

12:33

is flooded with everybody who who has a vision of their career that you know is

12:38

and that's what it goes back to is just if you have an idea don't go try to hand it to Steven Spielberg don't go try to

12:44

hand it to do it try to find somebody local in your area or even online yeah

12:50

there's a bunch of tutorials there's a bunch of guides there's people have done it yeah you could be the next one that's

12:57

super successful like George Lucas just sure do your work write what you know

13:02

yeah so so yeah I was just going to say so as far as getting back to Q I think

13:08

that was Rock Solid yeah absolutely well I was going to add to what James said back to the um do your thing and you

13:16

know get the rights to it for instance this is a TV show destination fear yeah

13:21

uh there's a lot of ghost shows out there oh yeah destination fear they were cancelled yeah that was one of my

13:26

favorites well they went on YouTube and they explained they owned all that equipment they owned the rights to

13:33

everything he did all the work the guy yeah did all the work he did all the editing so what did they do they took it

13:39

to YouTube yeah yeah and probably have an instant 10 million followers right oh yeah you know oh yeah so they're and

13:45

they're going to and they're going to control all that money now because of advertising and all that and they probably can do it for a lot cheaper

13:51

they do what they want they don't you know we we watch a guy I think I I like

13:57

his videos but they're Adam the woo and I don't know if you've

14:02

ever seen him he I don't know that he even plans he just goes somewhere and he'll just

14:08

stream of Consciousness talk and sometimes it's interesting sometimes he'll film himself eating a sandwich and

14:13

like I don't know anyway he's got a lot of followers and some other video guy tried to break down what they thought he

14:20

made per year mhm based on his followers and advertising and all that and this

14:26

guy with a with a a a camera and just filming himself eating sandwiches and talking about places it was something

14:33

like $250,000 a year okay uh makes me sick yeah right so you know it can be

14:40

done and so qack was right on about you don't have there's not just one vision and in fact that's probably the worst

14:46

selection of Visions because it is so hard and and so difficult to break in

14:52

and and the odds are against you the odds are 100% that you could go right now and make something you know I I just

14:58

want want to bring up real quick the reason that we're still talking about this question in particular that was

15:03

asked of Mr qack yeah is because there were maybe two or three honest solid questions the whole night the rest of

15:10

them was what's your favorite movie yeah yeah uh I do like how he fired that back

15:15

every time oh CU again he was a saint and super humble about it and just super nice and was like well just there's so

15:22

many I can't really pick one what's your favorite fire it back to the the person

15:27

I want don't know and he go see hard like and he got so tired of asking that like yeah like you said James like there were so people asking it over and

15:33

over however I do think varations favorite mov favorite books well at least they formed a question there were

15:39

a couple of people that couldn't even form a question and he sit there going and well at one point he says is there a

15:44

question in there to that and and and the audience like I think I had gotten up by to stand by that point because uh

15:51

those chairs were and I'm 6'2 and anyway uh but certain questions especially that

15:59

lady that sort of just like and she stalled and there was like these moments of silence and are you going to cuz people around me I could hear the groans

16:05

and I could hear people saying are you going to ask something or take her off put you sit her down you know so the

16:11

audience I'm going to ask you something I'm now this is going to be really I mean it's it's really personal it's

16:16

going to be then it wasn't and she said something you can bow out right now I'm like yeah there was all this [ __ ]

16:23

buildup and then it was I think it was what is what was your she lost her nerve she lost her nerve she was going to ask him something and then change

16:30

yeah that's probably what happened I didn't think that I've been there I've been halfway through a sentence going oh

16:35

[ __ ] yeah wave off go um I get being nervous right the people that were nervous that didn't bother me obviously

16:41

but but the ones that were asking stupid stuff yeah that was the same way and as they walk away everybody's talking about

16:47

them and they're still in their own world they they were drunk as skunks I'm sure I think so the guy asked about the

16:53

panties I think he was oh there was a lady next to me that just absolutely wanted to jump the balcony and go Str

16:58

ass it's like come on you perve or whatever she said I mean I mean yes um

17:04

and we'll get into this when we talk about 16 Candles anyway but because I have some thoughts about that and and

17:10

the same disb that challenged him right like he because they talked about or was that a different guy they talked about MMA and talked about kac's you know yeah

17:18

arts or whatever and then but he said and I challenged you he's like earlier you you told the the young man to to you

17:24

know making his own stuff well I challenged you and I'm like what the [ __ ] I'm sure Noak qak is a celebrity

17:31

who the [ __ ] are you man to tell qac like what but he does that stuff he said he made something down in South America

17:36

that's on Netflix I need to look that up that's what he did but like even if qac hadn't made anything small like that like I just I couldn't believe it where

17:43

did this the balls on this guy to get and tell the they friends man those guys are best friends than his they're best

17:48

friends yeah they they've been they were drinking with each other in the Green Room yeah yeah John's on the same level

17:54

he's drunk too right yeah right okay now uh I I I think I might have sort of had

17:59

some inkling of this but it it certainly was brought out I think as qack talked

18:05

to James's point a lot of people think oh cack he's all those guys from his movies but he's not I because he he made

18:13

certain remarks like uh he likes the subversive stuff and the dark comedies I think Cusack is more of a artist and

18:20

thinker actor yes than he appears to be in in espe in his teen movies because he made those when he was a teenager and

18:27

early 20s so he's but even back then I think he was looking for more meaning in his roles

18:32

sure uh than you know some of those teen comedies that in his his comments about

18:38

some of his movies where like somebody's like yeah you know we spent all you know all week watching all your movies whatever to build up for this and he's

18:44

like do you need to need your money back on some of those cuz you know like he made several references to some how he felt like some of his movies weren't

18:50

good some of his movies aren't good well I'm not saying he's wrong I just how many celebrties are going to admit that

18:55

well okay and and I thought about that because I like almost every movie that he's in I don't think that he's made

19:01

necessarily poor poor product but I think in his mind they aren't what he

19:06

wanted him to be meaningful or deep enough like he I think like 16 Candles he made that movie because he wanted to

19:13

be an actor an actor sure and he was 16 years old yes but if but it but now if he has his brothers he's making movies

19:19

like fat man and little boy uh movies that can inform the Consciousness and and this kind of thing when I was

19:25

looking through the list of his movies one of them I totally forgot he was in was being John malovich and yeah

19:31

remember that yeah but that's a really weird well I I think it is it is you think that's one of the ones that he

19:38

thinks so well it's like it's like anybody like say a woodworker you know

19:44

uh he can make popsicle sticks and make a lot of money selling them to the popsicle company or but but an artist is

19:50

going to want to I think constantly be improving and making more intricate things and have it as a a a craft and I

19:57

think you's is very much into the craft and art uh and and taking it to a new

20:03

place kind of act yes yes and sometimes you got to make popsicle sticks sure to

20:09

pay the bills and I think I think last the other night was a popsicle stick you know exactly sitting there now exactly

20:14

uh I used to F now I do not fault him for this I but I definitely separate

20:20

because Sherry noticed that during the movie now I I don't know if he like prescheduled them because you can schedule your tweets way ahead of time

20:27

and they can just come out so you don't necessarily have to tweet every tweet right it's the same with everything but

20:32

during the time that we were watching the movie several qack tweets came out that you know she went to his Twitter account it was because I looked up I

20:38

wanted he kept talking or people kept talking about his birthday so I looked up his name and it pulled up and it said

20:45

he he would just tweeted something Q&A you had looked it up because people brought up his birthday movie no this

20:51

was when we got during the time of the Q&A twet his had come out when we got home it said he had tweeted something 3

20:57

minutes ago so I said well what you know I don't follow him so yeah I went and looked and and of course I didn't want

21:04

to read some of it's all political wait a minute but but then I started looking back on his

21:09

feed yes he had tweeted during the the um scheduled them twe movie yeah during

21:16

the movie because it said like three hours ago and I'm like well that was during the movie yeah so I don't know that I mean I I would have thought he'd

21:23

been sitting backstage watching the movie you know with the audience but he may not have been because to him he's

21:28

moved on that that's something he did right now so I respect q and especially

21:33

after the other night I think he's a quality person very patient I think he's down to earth and everybody's political

21:39

opinions are their own but he is he he has a political stance and is adamant about it and it may not necessarily

21:45

coincide with mine some much of the time uh and that's fine I don't get my

21:50

politics from actors or movies right and I appreciate him he pretty much kept to

21:56

not saying anything except one once he said something and I just kind of looked I said don't go there was C Abbot and

22:03

the Trump thing yeah the Trump thing I thought it was Biden and Trump thought he talking about both of them yes he is but B Trump getting out of jail and then

22:11

uh the because because Abbott obviously is so Abbot or Biden Abbott Abbott he

22:17

never said anything about Biden no he's he is a big fan of Biden okay well yeah mean most celebrities are Democrats but

22:22

yeah I thought he had I got heard wrong I guess I thought he kind about

22:28

of course remember the Trump thing he was like well if I was this you know I'd have to own my own Tower and then get out of jail this whole little bit but

22:34

yeah and is I'm not saying okay you know but it was two comments out of all of that so yeah what I'm saying is get AED

22:41

but I'm saying I I'm not going to I don't want to hear it from them because I have I have the way I feel it might be

22:48

the same it might be different but I don't want them to go go right and and and he he I think was gracious enough

22:55

not to turn it into a PO cuz he he knew he was there for a reason and not to

23:02

politically stomp yeah yeah uh because I used to follow him on Twitter and I stopped following him just just because

23:09

too I don't even mind that like I didn't stop following him because his politics were different than mine I sto following

23:15

because that's that's all he uses his Twitter for is to get his political views out he doesn't talk about movies or what he's doing next or anything

23:22

person you know yeah to to sort of get information from a John Cusack I he didn't do that and that's fine but I I

23:29

followed him there for movie stuff or story stuff and he did not launch into

23:35

and and was gracious enough not to you know get ugly about his politics that

23:40

that scored a lot of points for me because I had a a agreement with myself had it gone there yeah I'd have been

23:46

like all right good night I'm that was me I I had already said this long diet tribe we're not there for politics like

23:52

politics aide completely out of this this is just about movies and fun sure and John kusek I think knew it or maybe

24:00

that's what he was he was very professional about the whole thing yeah I I think he has his views but I also think that he is down to earth and

24:07

realizes you know these are not everybody's views and and and I'm humble enough to to have my views but not bang

24:15

people over the head with well I'm sure he hears all the stories about a lot of people moving from California to Texas

24:22

so he probably understands with the exception of Austin yeah he's welcome to move to Texas anytime he wants cuz he

24:28

had mentioned he had mentioned he was thinking about it and he really liked Austin and well that's probably the

24:34

perfect spot for him well Austin like there is only one I mean there's probably other but Austin is your hard

24:42

blue it's a blue City yeah like you'll see a sea of red and they'll be they'll be Travis County you know which is fine

24:49

you know whatever but Austin Keep Austin Weird I'm all about that say Keep Austin Weird so Holly weird will fit right in you know sure uh I like Austin I like

24:57

the music scene you know I I would move there several times there's there too the last time you've been to Austin by

25:03

the way we went to the the Die Hard thing I haven't been down we went a couple times to like Kevin Welch is a

25:10

bars down is when we went in:

25:16

yeah we went to the music district and then we went to that screening uh but even around the the screening there's a

25:22

homeless shelter right down the street and they are out and about you know my

25:28

there was that guy I still remember uh he would we were waiting to go inside

25:34

the screening of die hard cuz the screenwriter did a Q&A after and this this guy was walking up and down the

25:40

street and I'm gonna move the mic away because his whole pitch for money was uh

25:46

you got $5 give me $5 you got $ five just back and forth just screaming angry

25:52

give me $5 but they were everywhere and I was disappointed by that

25:58

I you wanted a dance you wanted something a song no not by the $5 I wased by the the

26:05

way that they were way the homeless situation was out of control and and

26:10

that you know that that it was in the midst of of downtown with there's you

26:17

know where it's a nice section of town and right and that that's where the Austin film festivals and everything uh

26:23

you sort of had to push and Wade through uh all these homeless people which you know I don't want to get into that

26:29

something needs to be done um but I think yeah I think Austin is cleaning that up and all that we went a couple

26:36

months ago and I forget why we went we saw the bats at the bridge all that

26:42

stuff we did that a long time ago why did we go to Austin Amanda's gonna kill me I don't remember years ago Ian the

26:47

music scene is is it's pretty nice yeah uh yeah so so

26:52

he was very restrained in his in his politics uh because he is he is definitively not the person not in total

27:00

the person you see in his roles I think uh it really was clear to me when he was talking about something and music came

27:08

up and he was talking about punk rock and clash and all that I'm like oh and

27:13

then it clicked in my brain like you were saying he is more of an artist trying to do something that's going to

27:19

really speak and have something I think so that is really what a lot of people who claim punk rock is their favorite

27:26

music do like I really see that correlation so now it really makes sense what John Cusack's trying to do yeah

27:32

it's yeah all those fun crazy comedy movies those are cool but those probably aren't his favorites yes uh and and as

27:40

his career has G on I think I think Gross Point BL is a comedy but it is a dark comedy yeah likes those it's a it's

27:47

a commentary on yeah but but it's he calls it subversive meaning it's it's saying something yeah it and then yeah I

27:53

think that's the question that you were talking about James cuz somebody had asked him about the music on that and he you know his Emperor he definitely

27:59

wanted a certain yeah yeah tone and and playlist for that it was definitely cuz we watched Gross Point Blank of you know

28:04

we watched John cusc movies all week getting excited for this you know didn't want to tell him that but right you know

28:11

I wasn't I'm not a huge John cusac fan I guess you'd say but it turns out I guess

28:17

I kind of am now because I Gross Point Blake was great better off dead is a fantastically great cool movie it

28:26

is very yeah it's very now growing up I watched John kusc all the time and I always was attracted to his roles

28:31

because he was the sort of uh sort of uh Underdog loser type who sort of who sort

28:39

of pushed through and and managed to come out okay at the end you know little narcissistic a little or not

28:45

narcissistic uh what's the word I'm looking for like he the very Jerry

28:50

Seinfeld Larry David like yes talk out loud like yes uh but but but but not not

28:57

necessarily the cool kid you know exactly that kind of thing um so I always so I I always have liked his

29:04

movie said that and then as he got into more serious roles because I think I think I think the reason I think he's

29:10

not a bigger star is because he was so labeled early on with those roles uh

29:17

that when he does something dramatic or serious or or dark was it Identity or whatever yeah yeah uh and midnight

29:24

Midnight is yeah uh decidedly not those early roles mhm uh I think he's got more

29:31

chops than and hopefully that's changing but uh hopefully he's I think he's got more chops than even some of the

29:37

audience members that we saw the other night believe he has you know I don't yeah I think he's a lot

29:43

more he has a lot more in the the chamber than a lot of the other people in that audience gave him yeah credit

29:49

for like his the more I watched him the the variation of all the movies that we

29:55

watched yeah he's really good he's really good in all those movies and I totally have a new respect for him

30:00

anyway yeah and and the fact that he talked more about uh either some of the

30:07

submersive subversive movies or his influences like that that uh milit not

30:12

militant um sort of uh protester priest friend of his growing up in the in the 60s whatever the fact that he talked

30:18

more about that stuff than he did 16 Candles can sort of reveal his motivations and sort of philosophy of

30:25

life you know y yeah CU I think he is so political and this is why I sort of

30:31

don't hold it against him or don't bat an ey I think he's only that political on the other side because he sees what

30:38

he perceives as uh the machine Injustice money money power and what it does uh

30:45

and I think he chooses that side to sort of fight against that coming out of tradition of the 60s and 70s and stuff

30:50

like he talked about the studio systems being like algorithms now and he said it's like fast food so so so I think

30:57

some of his rants on Twitter uh I'm like okay you know that's fine but it I think

31:02

it comes from a place that is honest as opposed to some of these Talking Heads on the news channels and this kind this

31:08

kind of thing I think so anyway um well can I say one thing

31:14

yeah um I I kind of was a little disappointed though that because a lot

31:21

of the interviews or type of things that I see on YouTube or on video it seems

31:27

like there's a person that sits with the the star or whatever and sits there and

31:33

asks them questions and what are you doing now what project are you working on you know just better questions than

31:41

what the audience was asking and then that lasted what two seconds and then the crowd jumps into well I think they

31:48

wanted the the crowd to feel like they could interact with him I you sh that's what I was expecting was a moderator the

31:53

dude like I'm gonna be the moderator so I thought I thought he would sit down with Q Zac and ask predetermined questions and would be

31:59

good ones as opposed to leaving it up to the [ __ ] drunk audience right I wanted to know what is he I mean you

32:04

know I wanted sure him to it doesn't he doesn't have to go into detail about 16

32:10

Candles because yes he wasn't in it that much but he was in more than I remember

32:16

he more than I remembered yeah but um and then let me mention one other thing uh one thing I did really like what he

32:22

said and I totally agreed with him was it makes a difference when you sit in an

32:30

audience watching a movie especially one that that you've seen a dozen times and

32:36

you know all the lines and you sit there with other people that are the same way and I sat there and laughed at that

32:42

movie more yeah sure then I did watching yeah the Audi the uh the cheering when

32:47

Joan came on I I we'll talk about her when we get to the movie whatever but yeah various points you know the

32:53

cheering and people knew what was coming but still loved it like the ending of as soon as uh Jake is revealed you know oh

32:59

that yeah I love that scene it gets you still I I I think it still gets you whatever um yeah but that was that was

33:06

my my main thoughts about the Q&A yeah was you know his comment about that and

33:13

then just being a little disappointed that there was well when we went to see the uh the Die Hard and with the

33:21

screenwriter uh it was an Austin Film Festival event they do stuff all year not just in October so this was was one

33:27

one of those things in December because the hard a Christmas movie yeah uh but

33:32

it was an Austin Film Festival so they had uh a representative from Austin Film Festival sitting on the stage with the

33:39

screenwriter pre-checked questions or questions that they wanted and it lasted about an hour maybe uh which I was fine

33:45

with how long it went I thought he was very gracious but a lot of it was just you especially when the audience would

33:52

groan at the questioner or the question and felt like cuz a lot of times I felt

33:57

like they were wasting time it was it was a misuse of his time a misuse of our time well that one lady that was like

34:03

I'm going to ask you this personal question you can back up like you had mentioned that before it's like yeah that stuff I I lay the the blame at the

34:11

feet of the uh the venue promoter yeah the the person that put all this together for sure uh Jeff skin Wade uh

34:20

local uh he works for the eagle he's one of the onair personalities got they

34:26

probably paid him 500 bucks like hey Host this event it wasn't put together properly it it really wasn't and I blame

34:33

the person who booked the event booked Mr cack booked the movie see I was under the impression that Cusack picked the

34:39

movie and was doing this himself but he he was like I don't know why they pick this one I'm only in it I'm like oh

34:45

really yeah somebody called and say hey we're going to do movies in different amphitheaters around we're going to pay

34:51

you x amount of money to come and do a Q&A afterwards just like a ComiCon event

34:56

just like a signing and all that stuff he got paid a pretty chunk of change and when he walked out onto that stage and

35:02

saw a chair and a bottle of water yeah I I could read it from as far back as we

35:09

were that he was like oh [ __ ] like you could tell like oh we're just going to ask qu okay no and and and like I said

35:17

he was very gracious and down to earth uh cuz he he was there for the duration like it he didn't he was paid that check

35:25

no right but but never showed an ounce of being [ __ ] annoyed or I'm not

35:30

going to answer that question next question like he didn't do any of that professional like yeah I wouldn't have

35:36

i' be like what the [ __ ] I would have lost my [ __ ] on stage and people would have seen I could see it when he walked out on like I said walked out and he saw

35:42

that one chair off stage left like it wasn't even in the center of the stage it was off left up towards the front of

35:49

the stage he was like what the hell oh I feel like a weirdo sitting like

35:54

interrogation I guess you didn't make a slight comment about like an interrogation but yeah to your I didn't think about but yeah I guess what you're

36:00

saying at that point he realized oh this isn't a normal where the moderator is going to ask me questions I'm being

36:05

thrown to the Wolves right yeah when I get my face on comiccons they do there's a person up there doing the panel okay

36:12

take it to the audience one question way down there you already have the microphone one of our people I was I was

36:17

looking for the microphones in the aisles but you know like left and right and right yeah that that seemed a little

36:22

just line up here and then get back in line like you you didn't even it wasn't even limited to staying in line cuz the

36:27

one annoying lady got back in line when she got up there she goes I'm back I'm like [ __ ] well I was I was trying to Rack my brain again I'm not good in

36:35

crowds and all that my brain doesn't work as well as it does most of the time but I was racking my brain and I was

36:41

like okay if the line gets low enough I'll run down there and maybe get in line if I can think of something maybe

36:47

think of something in line but I kept peering down and the line kept getting longer and longer and staying the same and then the people started asking

36:53

stupid questions and oh it's you again yeah cuz I I was there was a guy in a red shirt and he was the last one in

36:59

line I'm like okay this is cool and then a few minutes later I looked down there was like 15 more people behind him I'm like what's going on here you know yeah

37:06

there's no limit I really racked my brain on what kind of question I would have even asked and then yesterday as if

37:11

an epiphany I thought of a question yeah what would what was your I really would have introduced myself hey James podcast

37:19

yeah we do the podcast here is what it's called we break it down based off of save the cat Blake Snider what how

37:26

essentially our podcast is cracking the Beats of our favorite movies yeah you're a writer do you have a system of how you

37:35

write is you know obviously Blake Snyder save the cat is one of many yeah what would you use yeah uh what are some of

37:43

the movies that you some of your favorite movies uh God I can't even see

37:49

it's it's three questions basically what movie would you recommend for our podcast to review based on us cracking

37:54

beats how do you personally write the stories cracking the beats and uh how do

38:00

you pick a story that you don't write that you're going to yeah no that's like

38:05

what do you look for in those like if I was going to ask any question which i' I I I absolutely avoid meeting my heroes I

38:13

don't if I just don't want to talk to them because I don't want it to be crushed I want to have Cusack in my mind

38:20

as as as the teen actor as as the artist uh I'm very impressed with him the other night I want to keep that what you what

38:26

did you say yesterday on the stairs I said never meet your Heroes and you're like [ __ ] never meet your fans yeah that's what I said right well yeah sure

38:34

after that like [ __ ] hell after that yeah man if they're paying you like hopefully he ripped somebody's ass you know I'm not doing a [ __ ] venue like

38:40

this ever again if every person that ever walked up to you handed you 50 bucks I am so glad to meet you you'd be like okay yeah yeah cool whatever

38:47

whatever crazy [ __ ] you're going to say fine 50 bucks and so he was very gracious and and Gentile about it now

38:53

along your lines if I were to I'd want to very much know know his his creative process especially the writing I like

38:59

how do you know how do you yeah absolutely I didn't want to and then as soon as I thought of that question yesterday post event yeah I was like I

39:07

probably would have broke his [ __ ] brain walking up there with a question like that after somebody's like what's

39:13

your favorite food that smell well that 12-year-old had a better question yeah

39:18

about fat man and little boy you know whatever at least it was right that would have been such a gear sh 11y old

39:24

or whatever she it was a girl right he probably would have enjoyed the question probably would have answered it

39:29

thoroughly way better questions than some of these ad and I thought it was interesting there were there were a couple of kids a 12-year-old and then

39:35

there was like another he's like 18 or yeah well there was two two children essentially and and he asked him the

39:41

same question one was like 131 was 12 say and you know how old are you I'm 12 how's that how's it going for you how's

39:46

it going you mad at anybody yeah you're right uh because he later said that he thought that it that he would prefer not

39:53

to have the idea that you got to jump into the workforce and and and become a you uh everything and figure have

40:01

everything [ __ ] figured out and so him asking well how's it how's it going as a 12-year-old you know uh joking

40:07

tongue and cheek but but really understanding that that this kid is probably in the most tumultuous time of

40:12

his life how you know which which shows a deeper sort of understanding than what's your favorite food you know so

40:18

qak like back to the circle back around is is not the guy solely not the guy

40:23

that we see in the movies probably a thinking working he is a sitting behind I I get the vibe from him is he is an

40:30

everyday work a day writer actor producer to add something to the conversation he's trying to do whatever

40:36

he can do to scratch the itch of the art sure and I think that's awesome but wants to add some I feel like he wants

40:42

to add something to the conversation which is why he doesn't necessarily go back and watch 16 Candles I don't know

40:47

that he thinks that does add something to the conversation why did they pick this movie you know he even he said that

40:53

why did they pick 16 Candles I'm barely in it yeah I'm remembering his his uh his answer now to the I think I don't if

40:59

it was the 11year old or the 13-year-old the kid that had asked about what Marvel character would you play oh yeah yeah

41:05

excuse me I think he played that wonderfully like he answered like staying true to himself yeah and then

41:11

but without like offending the kid cuz the kid's what Marvel character and he goes uh I want to be SpongeBob man yeah

41:18

you know so like he's not interested in that Marvel [ __ ] you know speaking to what we're talking about as far as him being an artist SpongeBob is submersive

41:24

now if you watch SpongeBob there's jokes I think that aren't okay that's true but like SpongeBob's not a Marvel character

41:30

right and so like I think that's why you know he you know no no he's really interested in playing any Marvel

41:36

character you know well he'd be a good he'd be an interesting Bruce Wayne Right he really would be I I think that's dark

41:42

enough that might attract his attention some because that that's a very uh I mean at least a younger one I mean yeah

41:47

they give him a script and some zeros in his bank account yeah well I don't know that he would take it he might take it

41:52

with enough zeros anybody would take it but I think I think Bruce Wayne is conflicted and dark enough sure as you

41:58

know because because if I was to really like a a superhero probably Batman would be it because he's the anti-hero he's

42:04

The Dark Knight yeah he's my favorite his only superpower is money right yeah yeah sure he's got a lot of money yeah

42:11

right he's super smart yeah I know right he's a vigilante dark and I think that

42:17

yeah you know he's not maybe a younger qack in his 20s would have played a really good young Bruce Wayne I don't

42:23

know about Cusack in his mid-50s I don't know he's got it I'm good I don't think older B man that's fine I don't remember

42:29

the actor but he was up he was asked if he would if he would play uh James Bond

42:35

now I like James Bond the character of the movies or whatever but he he saw that as absolutely no Challenge and why

42:41

would I want to make the same movie over and over again he didn't see that and I can't remember the actor but he did not see that as really a challenge to his

42:49

skills or his his vision of what he wanted to do as an actor yeah that's interesting uh because it is it's a

42:55

franchise good so I think I think cack I think is is always looking to add something or to challenge himself or to

43:02

feel like he's moving the conversation or whatever no and that's what I was going to say earlier when You' made a comment about his the trajectory of his

43:08

career yeah like you know you said you maybe he'd be bigger because he was if he hadn't been typ cast yeah and I think

43:15

that's probably you know somewhat true but it could also be like his choice of roles who's to say he wasn't offered

43:21

some of this stuff and he passed on it because he was it felt the same way like you're talking about with this guy with James Bond no that's he said that about

43:27

uh Pulp Fiction somebody had asked oh yeah you were in in line for Pulp Fiction what happened there and he said

43:34

he met Tarantino Tarantino told him everything about the movie and then that was it yeah like I don't know if they if

43:40

he ever even technically offered it to him yeah not like he was just feeling him out to me like and then he took off

43:46

and he goes yeah never heard from him again well I saw the I saw the the sheet or whatever of Pulp Fiction he had

43:53

potential actors and what character they would play John Cusack was the role of

44:00

Lance the guy the one that was into Eric stz that was written for John cusac

44:06

according to that note yeah but John Cusack was he in the movie he was the drug dealer the the Prank Caller prank

44:12

CER you know when they stab um Thurman with the needle his house he comes back to his house crash into his house I

44:18

think St was a good choice for that yeah but John cusc that would have been yeah cack could have done it no no no absolutely weird I was thinking

44:24

Travolta's character when I heard question asked I was like was he up for jol's character that's interesting well he was up for that one like he and

44:30

according to the notes written for Lance but also under consideration for pumpkin

44:36

that went to uh not Eli Roth God what is his name pumpkin and honey bunny oh Tim

44:41

Roth Tim Roth Yeah Yeah Yeah Tim I mean but Pulp Fiction is perfect that have been cool but no I I'd

44:48

be I in fact I'd be hard to imagine anybody other than those people and and so at that point it tells me they got

44:54

the you got it right guys yeah but I think Z in in a Tarantino film sounds great like I hope that happens

45:00

you know I guess he got one shot one more movie yeah he's Mak it one more movie i' imagine Tarantino's words

45:07

falling out of Cusack's mouth and rambling style he did he didn't do an impression but you could hear it yeah

45:13

yeah that'd be interesting neurotic neurotic is the word I was looking for before when I said narcissistic neurotic

45:19

John QX got that yeah yeah well uh I read something about Tarantino in

45:24

interview or whatever just recently he's you know what what is the movie now he doesn't agree that a movie should be

45:30

something you show on Apple you know right and and I and to some degree I I I buy that because uh you know one part of

45:38

me I don't have apple but I have Netflix and and Paramount and all that but at the same time there is something about

45:44

the experience we were talking the other day that we almost miss going to Blockbuster because you know you you sort of walk in the aisles and making

45:50

your selection and and talking about movies with I don't know it's just yeah you know the rose color glasses

45:57

Blockbuster nobody ever brings up the feeling of I'm going to go get the new

46:03

it's not there there's copies:

46:08

finally get it and then when you get it home the [ __ ] you know Muppets is in there inste of the cruise mov no right

46:15

I'm with you I miss lockbuster it it yeah it's aain will never know that experience

46:20

right and you were there with everybody else who wanted to watch a movie and we would yeah uh I remember when sequel

46:26

would come out the original would be rented out as well like I mean just stupid [ __ ] like that you know it's like

46:31

like now if you I don't know I guess I look at it like a new movies that like right now we' got the mission

46:36

Impossibles and IND Indiana Jones coming out I guarantee you those are trending on on like apple oh sure people go back

46:43

and they find them and and and and some of the streamers have have tried to sort of recreate the communal process I know

46:48

on Netflix I know on Prime there's a button you can hit like party view where you hit it and so you you at your home

46:54

you at your home and me at my home we could all watch it simultaneously on Prime interesting uh done that as a yeah

47:00

I've never either Netflix has it and Prime has it I don't know if the other so we could have like a a watch party

47:05

right but each be in our own home so if I paused it it would pause on all your screens I guess I don't know and then I

47:10

guess you could chat I don't know how it works but it's the idea of recreating the theater experience on your

47:16

individual screens which you know that's cool and all but I I think sitting in a room like Sher was saying I meant I was

47:23

going to bring it up too is sitting in the theater watching 16 candles or any other movie when it's a communal

47:29

experience watching 16 Candles at home yeah I was like man there's a lot of pause breaks and like weird like there's

47:36

a line said and it's a little long seeing it in the theater with other people the laughter I'm like oh I was

47:43

supposed to be laughing there no the interaction was definitely humor as much of the yeah to me that was as much

47:51

because now we'll talk about this when we get to Lebowski but I think 16 Candles was a lot of people's Labowski

47:57

in that movie cuz people to when I was standing up especially I heard people just reciting lines full tomobile you

48:04

know yeah as if I mean this was their movie and they knew the lines and was yeah that surprised me a lot like I was

48:11

yeah I guess I'd underestimated how many people love this movie and yeah I mean I know the line but to hear it kind of as

48:18

a chorus yeah pointing at a screen it's it's cool it was unique yeah and and

48:23

when like when Joan would come up like that I I I her scene on the bus with uh

48:28

Mike Anthony Michael Hall and M it's just those three uh she doesn't

48:34

say she she never says actual sentences or words in this movie it's all sort of under her breath one word here and there

48:40

like with the water fountain and all but her that I think she stole that scene

48:45

like I know Anthony Michael Hall and Molly but her reactions and just her incredulity at how dummy was just she

48:53

she really has got got comedic chops man which without saying a word she can just

48:59

right all my attention was focused on her you know I like how qac like pointed that out too he was very you know spoke

49:04

very well of his sister and like I mean I guess you know I guess most people probably speak well of their their

49:10

siblings I guess that they're yeah but think he really respect agreed yeah like one guy was trying to lead him saying

49:16

you know do you all like say all right I'm only going to do this movie if if my sister does it or whatever and and qac

49:21

was like no no like I you know she started before me and she's got the he was like I'm just I get out of the

49:28

way and let her do her thing steal the scene to let her do it you know I love I love her in Gross Point black the and he

49:34

said you know she' play my boss and this kind of thing but but she she is every bit as enjoyable to watch as Cusack in

49:40

that movie and and in 16 Candles I think she's probably one of my favorite Parts I think so yeah the two or three scenes

49:46

and they're all sort of physical comedy scenes and she has very little dialogue

49:52

the the anyway we'll get into that when we talk about 16 Candles yes so I was impressed with Kaka I enjoyed the evening um I think the audience was the

49:58

weakest link uh I agree you know so if you go into these things you know these

50:04

stars are not your friends you're not best friends respect their time uh admire their work be respectful of

50:10

everything they've done to enhance your life well can I say something you you talked about you you not might not want

50:16

to meet your Heroes yeah well my fear is I don't want to meet someone and then as

50:22

I walk away they think God what an idiot yeah yeah kak doesn't know me so he doesn't think I'm an idiot so that's

50:28

something well I I can let I can try to help you I know it's I can tell you but

50:33

it's your belief it's a hard thing to change most people when they meet you they're actually glad to see you they're

50:41

like thank you for being a fan you help pay my bills it's people like you and then once that's over they don't

50:47

remember you at all yes sure thank goodness well I mean I think Q's going to remember some of these [ __ ]

50:53

dumbass well I think he'll remember that they were to a name he eventually in years past he' be like oh yeah Fort

50:59

Worth there's some I was one time and yeah but I don't think for worth was a

51:04

unique experience I think everywhere he goes there's these bimbos oh for sure yeah yeah yeah for sure which I think it speaks to why again why he was probably

51:11

able to handle it so well because he's okay this is 30 minutes this is going to be over well there there's the I think

51:17

it's the groupy the groupy mentality like even we went and saw the Eagles before Glen Fry died which I'm very grateful

51:24

but I I remember standing out in the uh the entrance to the theater you know

51:30

where the concessions are and everything and I can remember just standing there either waiting on Sher to come out of the restroom or maybe she went off to

51:36

buy something I don't I was I remember standing there and there's these people standing around talking and using like

51:42

Glenn Fry's name and and and all the the band members names on a first like they knew them on a first name basis and oh

51:47

yeah he was up in blah blah blah the other day and there is this mentality that they know me they love me and and

51:53

I'm part of their Inner Circle well no no you're not you're that's that's part of the problem with celebrity and the

52:02

the the most concise way I can say it is an interview with Vince Neil from mle crew yeah he goes God help us if a

52:09

groupy walked backstage and we were drinking a glass of milk yeah yeah you

52:14

had to be drinking Jack Daniels or and mle crew you do do do that's what people

52:19

expect yeah right so it's it's an audience thing it's us

52:25

being fans we have to realize these are people yeah these are normal people just doing their jobs it is bizarre as [ __ ]

52:31

to them that they can like Phillip he could write something on his computer and then walk out to the grocery store

52:37

and then people are all over him yeah I never wanted to be that famous I wanted to be able to write stuff write songs

52:43

have people play them yeah and then go to the grocery store nobody know who the hell I am I perfectly happy with that

52:49

I've always told Chris like if we ever sold a script take here's the script give me my money buy right I'm not even

52:56

Tred want to do rewrites at that point and be part of that machine give me my money and I'll write the next one and

53:01

you know cuz yeah it just seems like because there is the glitter uh of of

53:09

the Hollywood and it's you know but the reality I think is there's the reality

53:14

is nothing like no well the the glitter that is put on it you you know I've been

53:20

watching a lot of interviews with Nickelback because they are on tour yeah and I got so tickled at one of the

53:26

questions that someone asked them is who in the band is more the typical rock star and of course they point to Chad

53:33

the lead singer MH uh he's single or whatever you know he's more of a part A

53:40

LaVine for a little while yeah two years I think it was she is she is a freaking

53:45

tell my YouTube stream has been run hey pH over and populated with but see I

53:51

want to do the meet and greet because I am different no I'm just I'm just kidding once in six days I've been

53:57

married to Chad Kroger you just don't know it that's I just but um she needs her own YouTube account cuz I'll have my

54:03

videos and all of a sudden I'm like okay I gotta get through all this to get the wait a minute I want to say okay go ahead but but Ryan um the you know the

54:11

guitar player he's like well I clean out my own gutters and I'm sitting there going what yeah I mean you know they

54:19

talk about going to pick up their kids at school totally Norm when they're not on tour let me let me tell you just a a

54:25

little bit of behind the scenes of music yeah when you're on tour it is 23 hours

54:31

of boredom one hour of show makes sense and then so it's easy to get into the drugs and the celebrity and well that's

54:37

one thing I appreci appreciate about them because they actually wrote a song about and I didn't realize it until

54:44

someone asked the question it's about doing cocaine and they had to go ask people well is this does this make sense

54:51

because they they don't do drugs now they drink but they don't do drugs but they swe wait a minute I'm not done

54:58

don't interrupt Nick and then and then the other question was to the drummer Daniel he someone asked him you know

55:04

they saw him out in public and they're like where are the other guys it's like he said we don't like hang out 247 you

55:12

know we have our own life yeah usually when you're on tour like I said 23 hours 1 hour one hour of show or two hours you

55:19

want to do the hours when you're at home it's like you're it's like you're here on a day off you got [ __ ] to do

55:25

right except for Chad has the the studio in his home sure I would love to have

55:30

that studio he has it looks so beautiful well and then and then early on and I guess like and and this is the fan thing

55:37

like um the whole idea of them being posers right because he'll write songs about cocaine and drugs but he doesn't

55:43

do cocaine and drugs and he'll say in interviews they stories I'm writing a song and it's a story about a guy I and

55:49

and and so for people to say well you know you sing about all these drugs and you don't do drugs you're a poser well if I did did all those drugs I'd be dead

55:56

I'd be dead I'd be mer ha that's right and the other thing is he if you do all those drugs you'll be dead he has that

56:02

song about a kid um watching his mother go through abuse from his father and he

56:08

he says that his dad will say everyone thinks I abused your mother yeah you know anyway and that's

56:14

the problem is people they can't separate the they lay them that over their favorite people they think they

56:21

know them cuz me myself personally James headfield from Metallica is that for me

56:27

yeah and I have to be very if I ever have the chance to meet him or talk to him I got to be very sure coherent of

56:34

that my question would honestly be like hey when you go tour Europe how do you fix your sleep schedule it'd be

56:41

something like oh well let me tell you about that cuz I had cuz I think that's the kind of thing they would want to answer not just oh my God I love you

56:48

what were you thinking when you wrote this 40 years ago can I can I say what I would sure say I already have a question

56:56

or I already have a story if Chad Kroger's listening go for it oh yeah no I I actually posted this on one of their

57:03

sites okay that I have their songs I have two songs set for my uh alarm alarm

57:09

in the morning and I'm bad about sleeping through my alarm me too so one

57:16

time one of their songs was playing over and over and over and thought he was in

57:21

hell no literally like and I'm I in my dreams going walking around with all of

57:28

the band and I'm going talking to them about well how your kids doing you know just you know conversation like that and

57:35

then I'm like they keep playing your song over and over why do they keep playing your song over and over and then I wake up yeah sure that's what you

57:41

would tell them that's not a question no I said that's something I would have to tell them oh that story yeah yeah you

57:47

snuck into their your yeah well they have a yeah they have a greet and meet anyway and I bet they're I bet they're

57:53

less expensive than Metallica right yeah Metallica meet and greets with like three grand a piece oh no no no no I

57:59

don't my buddy my buddy that's in another band he did it and that all of them I was like I am so jealous yeah

58:05

sure so jealous well you could tell to go to your point about asking them qu you could tell that Cusack would almost

58:12

come alive when he got a question that sort of was meat for him like his background or his writing process or you know something like that uh just as just

58:20

as you would come alive you would come alive if they thought hey what are your thoughts on Breaking the story beats of

58:27

something in here you'd be like oh the next 30 minutes we would be that's why we have this podcast is because it is

58:33

something we are excited about you guys are excited about I think John Cusack again this is

58:40

I guess to everybody listening more is have that kind of respect for the celebrities or the people that you

58:46

appreciate their artwork and if you do have a chance to ask him a question don't be one of those gusher people like

58:52

ask him a legit question that makes him come to life cuz they they get hundreds of those [ __ ] questions every day of

58:59

their life it goes down to self-awareness I think a lot of the people have no self it's like driving on the highway you could tell some people

59:05

are surprised that there's anybody else on the road but them some people asking those questions thought that they were

59:11

just the they were going to be the highlight of the show with this question you know right and they have no self-awareness John knows I exist he's

59:18

going to be talking about me later oh he's going to be talking about you later right believe me he doesn't know your

59:23

name or care he'll be talking about it yeah little self-awareness and perspective could be helpful anyway and

59:30

that's again that's why I had that question pop up into my brain of something I could ask him way too late

59:37

sure well but I think that he would have really possibly come to life on that kind of yeah if if it's because it

59:42

engages him as a as opposed to somebody I have to put up with to get the next person and anyway yeah so well all in

59:50

all good time though I I it was a good time and our first of many field trips

59:56

as a podcast yeah uh yeah I because uh I don't know what the future holds but but

::

Texas has definitely got the eyes of many in the industry because there are a lot of people moving here uh from

::

California she was watching something this morning uh and the ratio is something like uh two to one of people

::

moving here versus people moving to California uh and it's uh a huge Trend

::

especially from around 2017 on there's this influx and just because of of the

::

cost of living and and all of that uh is the big draw but the industry is looking

::

and you like you said this thing in Mansfield and everything I think there's going to be a lot more of that kind of

::

filming and and Industry locating here for whatever reason you know hopefully we're not priced out of our homes and

::

taxes get too what I was thinking is like as you know this becomes you know this becomes the California right cuz

::

everybody's moving here and everything goes up then we move to California nice weather and all the

::

[ __ ] gone now you can get four times your house right if let me tell money

::

spends better in California all of a sudden is yeah right you know I I don't know they definitely have the weather

::

and it's beautiful out there in some parts you sure I I would live in San Diego I would want to live in Bakersfield you know Bakersfield is high

::

desert it's not terrible but it's it's you know not not San Diego not

::

San Diego's all right yeah I've been there a couple times I liked where we lived Oceanside

::

yeah it was right outside s Oceanside yeah that's where I visited visited my brother when he was in the Marines and

::

that was when I got into the ocean tasted like pickles I was like this tastes like pickles sucks I was

::

17 this wasn't recently no it was cold yeah yeah yeah the Pacific right y all

::

right anything else about uh you excited for the next time we get to

::

do something yeah uh yeah I guess that was my point that that there probably will be more events like this especially

::

now that Dallas Forth is the fourth largest Metroplex in the country so economically things like this are not

::

going to be able to ignore well even for orth has their own um what is it called

::

a movie um Festival but yeah yeah the Lone Star art movie festival yeah Film

::

Festival film F yeah yeah Austin Fort Worth Dallas they have all that kind of stuff I don't know if I want to be

::

traveling to Dallas for too much stuff no no I'll go to Austin before I go to Dall like Dallas I'm sorry I mean Austin

::

is their Film Festival is world renowned I Fort Worth is certainly not but you

::

know let me take that back it's not that I don't like Dallas I like Dallas I don't like driving yeah no that's

::

exactly what it is it's driving in Dallas and around Dallas it's it's the D because you can literally tell a

::

difference when you leave Fort Worth and you get to Arlington it gets a little bit worse sure and then as soon as you

::

get to Dallas you're it's like the I call it like The Cannonball Run and I know that's an old reference old movie

::

Oh no I got it okay well you like you make ubering part of the the budget for that event you know we don't none of us

::

have to still don't want to be the highway I've never done that like I'm not even riding in a car that train that

::

runs right Fair Park I've done that it's all right qak was a little surpris ways

::

to get to where you can get on but yeah he asked if there was is there some r r between Fort Worth and Dallas yeah cuz

::

yeah which I thought was cool and nobody answered him cuz yeah cuz everybody was talking about you know [ __ ] Dallas and Fort Worth's where it's at yeah sure well there was a few people in there

::

from Austin and Dallas yeah that came in yeah and if they uh asked better

::

questions in Dallas he's probably going to think well well yeah I mean well a lot of those people said they were from Dallas asked stupid ass questions sure

::

no Dallas is I think I think Fort Worth is like they're I would like to live in either

::

Fort Worth Dallas uh Fort Worth Austin or San Antonio those like I think those are the the three gems of the state

::

Dallas I got no use for I think Fort Worth is every bit of uh the new Austin

::

I guess you'd say I think it could be yeah Sundance is pretty cool I'd like to see a a Music Row or something down there where we could get the clubs the

::

the the the local joints like Austin has where we could get these really cool Independent Artists to come in and stuff

::

hey you know what if you uh take all the big money that you get we can open up our own little theater yeah and then uh

::

we can do events like that sure I always wanted a small movie theater to do screenings and events Kevin the Kevin

::

Smith thing really inspired me I'm like dude we could do name a movie and bring

::

in a screenwriter an actor or whatever from that absolutely I I I I said that

::

years ago I think that's really the future yeah of events like that is

::

because you can you can literally sit in your house and watch a movie with better

::

screens better things whatever than the old Sher made the point of like I was a

::

little disappointed in the size of the screen they had it at that was small uh because perspective wise R TV was we got

::

a bigger picture because we were closer to it obviously but it was a a bigger more positive viewing experience on the

::

TV we had than what we got at the theater now I understand the interaction

::

made it very cool but I was a little surprised because they had a full-size screen at the Die Hard thing and the sound sounded really good though at the

::

I was worried the sound was going to be bad like cuz the size of the screen were so far away I think James Jud made a

::

comment there was no subtitles I was like yeah if we can't hear this thing and there's no subtitles we're screwed

::

well the sound was a bit boomy in spots like I didn't never have to me the

::

average the average listen that that Auditorium wasn't meant to be just no it

::

was built in the 1800s man and I think those seats are probably the original people were shorter back then I guess oh my God and skinnier but also uh yeah my

::

I was oh yeah my knees were killing the audience knew every line you didn't need any of the sound it was a very cool

::

interactive experience I it was but if you could have something that's tailored

::

for that yeah absolutely awesome the Die Hard thing was better on that the I remember the picture quality of Die Hard

::

not being as as good as what we saw right I they probably used actual yeah

::

film or whatever because it looked like a yeah some for 16 Candles it looked

::

like somebody hit play on a DVD player they might have they they're very likely it was it was on a big screen but they just hit play because un

::

boom Blu-ray it could have been Blu-ray I don't know but either way it great experience I think it was very

::

cool anyway um all right so we going to get into the review we want to do what

::

movie are we review you take half a break yeah we could take let's take a break cuz that's basically a full let's stretch our legs and we'll come back

::

we'll do yes it's noon I can eat an oatmeal cookie notable quotables yes and then uh we'll talk about 16 Candles

::

sounds good all right we'll pause on this like I I started thinking about Like rules of etiquette at one of these things don't be a [ __ ]

::

dumbass that's s of the umbrella they should probably have a breath Lesar at the on the line when you

::

go for your question yeah I mean qac said you can go to Hollywood and knock on doors if you want or yeah as far as

::

getting back to Q I think that was Rock Solid yeah he was he was very professional about the whole thing yeah

::

he talked about the studio systems being like algorithms now yes it's like fast food so I kind of was a little little

::

disappointed though that one thing I did really like what he said what happened

::

there and he said he met Tarantino Tarantino and I got so tickled at one of the

::

questions I said never meet your Heroes and you're like [ __ ] never meet your fans yeah that's what I said
