In this episode, we are joined by the wonderful Jackie Goddard. She is a former fashion designer, recovering actor, coach, speaker, and podcast host. Jackie is on a mission to help speakers get excited about sharing their ideas and messages with an audience. Today, Jackie tells us her story and the life experiences that made her who she is.
Mission

Jackie is on a mission to get people excited about stepping in front of their audience. The audience is potential clients, customers, or just people they want to share their message with. She wants to help people raise their confidence and realize that they have stories and experiences that can help others.
Past in the Fashion Industry

Jackie trained in fashion and textiles and ended up in the rag trade of the fashion business.
Something that Excites Us

There wasn’t anything in particular that Jackie thought about acting that made her realize that she wanted to do it. She believes that it is innate and that everyone has that feeling about a particular thing. Something in all of us that makes us excited and motivated.
Building Rapport and Trust

She believes that truly building rapport and trust with your audience is what would ultimately get them on your side. As much as you say the character isn’t an accentuation of you, it’s still you. When Jackie works with people, it’s about finding who they are.
Therapy
[25:03]
During the lockdown, Jackie had a revelation when she was teaching adults. She learned that adults coming up to the end of the sessions felt like it was therapy. It made a powerful mark on her that what she was doing benefited everybody.
