Greg Stone is a NYC based comedian who has been on TruTV, America’s Got Talent, and Sirius/XM. We invited him onto the show to talk about his hilarious homophobia bit, but instead, our conversation dove in and out of human behavior and why we tend to be so resistant to change and accept the idea that being gay, trans, or even attracted to children are a result of neural imbalances. While homophobia is a limiting belief, it comes from a lack of understanding - willing or not - so we ask, “What’s funny about it?” and use that as a springboard for finding new avenues to connect to those stuck in their ways.
In this episode, we talk about:
-Working through uncomfortable topics using humor /
-Our wiring /
-"Evil" serving as a cop-out word for things we don’t understand /
-Evidence supporting the idea that most comedians have ADD /
-The constantly shifting sensibilities of right and wrong /
-How society lazily quantifies people into groups based on race vs. individual behavioral commonalities /
-Coming to terms with gender fluidity /
-The self-defeating act of ostracizing others for their beliefs /
-The psychology of self-belief /
-Greg's hilarious bit on homophobia /
- Listening to recordings of your own stand-up /
- Using vocal variety and rhythm to spice up an old bit you've been bored with /
- Labels and the limitations of believing in absolute truths /
- The moment Greg realized he isn't gay /
- Gender pronouns /
- The imagined order of reality /
- Greg's outside-of-the-box approach to overcoming writer's block and his negative inner voice /
-And more!!!
