Everyone knows that if your knees go in when you squat it’s because your glutes aren’t working properly, right?
Wrong.
We talk through a whole list of reasons why your knees might go inwards in a squat that has nothing to do with your glutes not working. Plus why it might actually be GOOD that your knees go in during a squat.
Resources mentioned in the episode:
- Muscle activation in a squat is load-dependent here and here
- Paralyzing the gluteus medius doesn’t make the knee go in more here
- Knees going inwards in a squat is not a risk factor for ACL injury here
- Lya Bavoil squatting 213kg at 62.5kg body weight here
