Jocelyn Wallace is a pelvic health physical therapist who helps women get back to what they love after gynecological surgeries, specializing in hysterectomy, myomectomy, and excision surgery recovery. She has firsthand experience navigating recovery as an athlete, having her first open myomectomy a few weeks after her first powerlifting meet. After seeing how little support is given to women after major abdominal surgery, Jocelyn vowed to fill that gap. Since then, she has had three more surgeries, including a total hysterectomy and the removal of over 70 fibroids, and she has dedicated her career to filling the support gap for women post-surgery.
In this episode, Jocelyn and I talk about why someone might need a hysterectomy, insights into preparing for surgery, Jocelyn’s top tips for early recovery, the importance of pelvic floor health, the challenges of resuming physical activity, potential hormonal changes post-hysterectomy, and so much more.
