Scott: Hello, welcome to All Things Weddings. I'm Scott, the photographer behind Scott Carney Photography.
Hannah: And I'm Hannah, the wedding planner behind Hannah Rachel Weddings. We're here to help you navigate your wedding planning, to freely share tips, insights and behind the scenes so you hopefully feel less overwhelmed and stress free while planning your gorgeous wedding.
Scott: Want in on all our tips and to listen to us chat to some of our favourite suppliers? Well then let's dive straight in. So hey Hannah, how's your week been?
Hannah: Hi! It's been really good, thank you. We've had another bank holiday—I can’t believe how many we’ve had! I’m nervous and excited; my first wedding of the season is this weekend. It’s a two-day marquee wedding and I’m just hoping for dry weather during the drinks reception. But no matter what, it’ll be gorgeous.
Scott: Yeah, it’s half-term here, so it’s been hectic with the kids. We're away next week, so just catching up on work in between. I had a wedding at Barn on the Bay on Saturday. If you want more info on the venue, check out episode 37 where I spoke with their coordinators.
Hannah: That venue looks amazing. How did it go?
Scott: Really well, actually. The weather was dicey—forecast said rain, but it cleared up by mid-morning. Just windy. They went ahead with the outdoor ceremony. The couple were determined—umbrellas ready and all.
Hannah: Oh, perfect! That’s often all couples want: just a dry window for the ceremony.
Scott: Exactly. The ceremony space is about a 5-minute walk from the barn, but they hired a vintage tractor and trailer for shuttles. Made for some amazing photo ops! I also had a workout running to the ceremony site for shots before it rained.
Hannah: Love it! Any memorable details?
Scott: So many. The seating plan was brilliant—a copper frame with strings and each guest’s photo. Super personal and guests loved it. Also, Abby Collins did makeup—she did my wife’s makeup, actually. Didn’t even realise it was her at first!
Hannah: That’s such a sweet full-circle moment.
Scott: Right? The ceremony itself was lovely. A family member played trumpet for the aisle exit. I scoped out a perfect angle to get both him and the couple in the frame. Then, they did a confetti aisle walk after a loop round the dunes. Nice way to break it up and enjoy both moments.
Hannah: I always tell couples—take 5 minutes post-ceremony for just you two. Helps avoid a receiving line and gives you a moment to breathe.
Scott: They did that! Then it was speeches—two outside, two inside. Broke it up nicely. Food was buffet-style. Singing waiters kept energy up. And the band? Incredible. Full setup: trumpet, sax, keys, vocals. Faye Shearer Music and Livewire Band UK—amazing energy.
Hannah: Sounds like such a vibe! How many guests?
Scott: About 150. They even had a silent disco after party across from the barn. One of their mates DJ’d and everyone danced under the stars. It was brilliant!
Hannah: I love a silent disco! Such a fun way to keep the party going without noise complaints.
Scott: Exactly. After 1 a.m. it started drizzling, and I wrapped. Long day—started at 10 a.m. But an amazing couple and such good vibes.
Hannah: It sounds magical. I'm kicking off my season with a two-day marquee wedding this weekend. Around 120 guests Saturday and 200 Sunday—it’s the bride’s parents' day! We’ve been tweaking plans due to the wet site but all is set. Fingers crossed for dry skies!
Scott: Sounds like a big one. Hope it all goes smoothly. Maybe we should do a future episode taking listeners through a full planning journey start to finish?
Hannah: Yes! That would be so helpful, especially for marquee weddings. Behind-the-scenes is where the magic is!
Scott: Good luck this weekend, Hannah!
Hannah: Thanks, Scott! And to everyone listening—have an amazing week. Bye!
Scott: Bye!
