Speaker:

Welcome back to

“Irresistible Communication”.

2

:

Two minutes, twice a week.

3

:

No nonsense advice on

leadership communication.

4

:

When we're about to give a talk,

we're mostly concerned about

5

:

the words we're going to say.

6

:

We're not so used to think.

7

:

About the space in between

the words, the silence.

8

:

But it's useful in many places.

9

:

For example, the moment before you start

to speak so that the room becomes quiet.

10

:

You don't want to talk

against a murmur of words.

11

:

You want the full attention of your

audience from the very first word.

12

:

Or in between two thoughts so

that your audience has a chance

13

:

of digesting the first thought

before digging into the next one.

14

:

Or after an important statement

so that your audience can let

15

:

it sink in and transfer your

words into their own situation.

16

:

That's what makes your

talk concrete for them.

17

:

And the more concrete your talk

becomes, the greater the chance that

18

:

they will find your thoughts valuable.

19

:

Or in the Q&A session to give

yourself enough time to understand the

20

:

question and come up with a thoughtful

response as opposed to the quick

21

:

response that doesn't quite nail it.

22

:

Or after the talk, back at your

desk to reflect on reactions.

23

:

Some of these moments will

be very brief, some longer.

24

:

. Noticing them is the first step

towards being able to control them.

25

:

Keep lighting the path and

share it with a friend!
