Because God is in charge of this crazy bus called the Christian Journey.

First, today's message.

Today's lesson.

Oh my.

Is entitled the sun Will Come Out Tomorrow.

I know that sounds crazy, but actually this came about on a trip that I was on with Noel out of the country and at a conference.

One of the conference speakers told everybody it's all about to end.

It was about 15 years ago.

So I wrote a lesson called the Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow.

The key in understanding is that if there is a problem with our relationship with God, if there is a problem in nothing but darkness, if there is a difficulty in our Christianity, if there is a lack of freshness in our engagement with the Lord, it has nothing to do with God and everything to do with us.

And the reason that's important to understand is because God is continually doing new things.

Revelation 21:5.

He says, Behold, I make all things new.

Not I did make, not I will make.

I make, present tense, all things new.

So if you're a person who feels like you've had stolen blessings, broken dreams, and lost time, I have a very cool message for you.

Jesus Christ is the redeemer.

And just to put a big bow on this whole package, it is never too far gone for God to do something where the redemption outweighs the disappointment.

I've got to say that line again, and you must hear it.

God can make one year seem like a thousand, and in that truth alone can make the quality of your life so much better, greater and longer and stronger than you have ever imagined.

Rehoboam was the son of Solomon, and he was the king that was in charge when the nations split.

And what people don't realize is that he was trying to gather an army to go Fight to kind of reunite.

And the Lord approached him and said, don't, because this is all from me.

And it was just like, oh, that was the end of that.

Because otherwise he'd been fighting God.

So excellent job, my brother.

Absolutely phenomenal.

I just wanted to share with you.

I think you asked me this last time I called in.

But I am in Deuteronomy still.

And I really want to let you know that.

You know how you tell me that the word of God sometimes, you know, jumps up.

Jumps out at you from the book.

And I think I've heard come some of your fills.

Or maybe you said this in passing, but you said that Jesus.

This was the only book that Jesus Christ quoted whenever he was tempted by the devil.

Was Deuteronomy correct?

And once I read, I'm in that neighborhood of that chapter.

And once I read that, David, it really kind of jumped at me.

I was like, oh, my goodness.

This literally is the wording that Jesus Christ used.

And you know me, David.

I mean, I'm reading the Bible for the very first time in my life, and I will.

I will testify that it.

It.

It was an experience.

And there I am highlighting and putting X's all over that little area because I'd never read it in my life.

And the fact that Jesus Christ used it before, I.

I can tell you that it was an experience.

But, yeah, everything.

And what Sergio brings up is a really important point, and that is this.

In Hebrews, chapter 4, verse 12, it says the word of God is alive.

So it's not a coincident.

Okay.

I used to use this line.

It's a little arrogant, but it's somewhat funny in that is I never met coincidence, but I did meet Jesus.

So when you're reading the Bible and something happens between what you're reading, remember it's just a book.

Right?

Except for it's the Holy Spirit that wrote that book.

It's the Holy Spirit that lives inside of you.

And there's this connect.

And then that description, I didn't originate that description, but I can't remember who the person who told it to me.

But it's as though the words jump off that page and kind of like hit you right in the heart and in your mind, and you just, like, go, whoa.

And then you realize, well, this is way.

This is way cool.

It's way bigger than my little brain thought was really going on.

The Lord is doing something awesome, and it can be.

And what's amazing about this is if you're at the point where you're reading your Bible and you're not having it anymore, ask God to do that.

That means that you're reading a little bit more to read than to listen.

And what you want to do is just be aware that think things pop off on a page.

And it's just so funny because today I jump in the word.

So let's use Sergio, what he's talking about.

So I jump in the words.

The exact same thing happens in 1st Peter 4, 9.

It says, have hospitality with one another.

And then almost like a parenthesis kind of thing, it says, without complaining.

And then I had to think about, boy, I had family over.

And.

And I didn't complain a lot, but there were a couple of times where I did complain.

And it's like, lord, I shouldn't have been complaining that family's over.

I should have been hospitable and kind of that.

But it's like, it just.

It challenges you, and then you.

I think you should interact right on the spot.

When the Lord has something jump off the page, take a moment and talk to him.

Say, oh, that's so I'm seeing that now.

Like, talk to him just like, it's happening.

Like, I'm seeing that now.

Cause he's right there in the room with you.

That's part of the relationship.

That's part of the connect.

And what a blessing to hear.

Sergio's reading it.

His big fan knows, and it's speaking to him because it's alive, and it's alive in him.

Doesn't that just fire you up a little?

In the meantime, we are going to fire into the word of God, because I love the word of God and I'd love to share it with you guys, and I hope it's a blessing.

This is just.

You just can't make this stuff up.

There's no way anybody can come up with this.

It's just so brilliant.

So past us.

Revelation 21:5, he who was seated on the throne said, I am making everything new.

So Revelation has 22 chapters.

This is in the second to last chapter towards the end.

This is God after everything else that's going on.

Telling in summation of the 66 books, in these last two verses or two chapters, he's like, I am making everything new.

I think the King James behold, I maketh all things new.

I'm trying to tell you something.

This is in the perfect present tense Greek.

What does that mean?

It's the continual action concurrently, thereof, now and forevermore.

And what the Lord is saying is, I ain't old, I do new.

That's a nice way to put it.

And so one of the things that happens for Christians is they like myself, like yourself, like everybody.

You go through different seasons and ups and downs.

But what we need to be aware of is that if our Christian journey is old or dull, the problem is not with God.

Even if you can't get to nailing each thing down, you have to understand his sovereignty, his authority, his position, his activity.

Behold, I am making all things new.

There is nothing done.

Boring old With God.

What's amazing is that people who live in religion actually have a great deal of boredom.

And people who look at other people who are in religion go, gosh, how boring.

And I don't actually disagree with that.

But if you are in a living relationship with a living God, and he is making all things new, it's never dull.

You think it'd be dull if you were hanging out and engaging with the smartest alien being ever in the universe.

And every day you get to kind of connect to him.

You think that'd be dull.

And God is yet beyond that.

So I'm going to read a verse, and the reason I'm going to read it is because I want to kind of saturate it, because I'm going to teach on it again in a couple of weeks, maybe about six weeks.

But it's just so important.

And this is what this verse is.

It's coming out of Isaiah 43, 18 and 19.

That's kind of a nice little saying.

It's kind of cool.

Everything's cool.

But then I share with you this thing where the Lord showed me, hey, get ready to receive.

That's something the Lord put on my heart for us, for the people of God, that there should be this.

Like, we always know the Lord's going to do something cool.

But I'm telling you, it's a lot closer than we think it's going to be.

Get ready to receive.

And so I want to pull this out of Isaiah 43.

I'm going to probably use this a few times throughout the year.

Here's what it says in Isaiah 43, 18, 19.

Ready?

Forget the former things.

Do not dwell on the past.

See, I am doing a new thing now.

It springs up.

Do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Some of us need to get on board with God's word and just do what it says.

Forget the former things.

Everything God did for you, that was awesome, that drew you near to God.

That's something you hang onto as a memorial.

Good, better, indifferent.

It's over now.

The Lord is saying, don't dwell on the past.

Why is that, Lord?

Why?

Why?

Why should we not dwell on the past?

I'm doing something Else now.

Isn't that amazing?

I'm doing something new right now.

It's going to spring up.

Can you perceive it?

Can you not get it?

I'm making a way in the wilderness.

What do you mean, making a way in the wilderness?

There's a pathway even when we're in the wilderness.

I'm bringing streams in the wasteland.

What do you mean streams in the wasteland?

A wasteland has no water.

Okay, I want to make sure I say that right because I don't want to really misapply it.

Ready?

Wasteland has no water.

Let me say that again, because I don't think.

Think I'm getting it through.

A wasteland has no water, and God is going to bring streams into the wasteland.

That's some cool stuff.

Okay, I'm on board.

I'm cool.

Let's do it.

Okay.

Got it?

Yeah.

This is what the Lord is trying to get to you.

And I.

And I do think.

Do I think it's only this year?

Do I think the Lord's coming back this year?

Boy, I hope he's coming back this year.

I hope he comes back before the end of the show.

And every real Bible believing, born again Christian would actually believe that and say that.

But he is making it clear he's doing new things.

We know that that's his character.

And he's telling us, look, get ready to receive.

Get ready to receive.

I remember I asked him, I was like, how do I.

By believing me, oh, you know what?

I'm going to take my faith.

I've had my faith at a 4, 5, or 6.

I'm getting that faith up to a 7, 8 or a 9.

Maybe I can even get it to a 10 and see mountains move.

It doesn't have to be a lot of faith.

It just has to be pure faith.

That's the irony behind it.

It just has to be like a mustard seed, a pure seed.

That means I can't have any doubt with it.

And he who's seated on the throne is saying, I'm making everything new.

Forget the former thing.

Isaiah 43, 18, 19.

Forget the former things.

Do not dwell on the past.

The Lord's like going, that's enough.

We talk about this in many, many times since we've done the show.

And I've talked About this in 45 years many, many times.

If you lived in Detroit, Michigan, at 10 and Southfield and you went across the street 10 and south, it was a very busy intersection.

10 in Greenfield is also a very busy intersection.

Here's what you don't do.

You don't walk through the crosswalk looking backwards.

Why?

Because you would absolutely get hit by a car and you don't walk through your life.

Why?

Because it's Detroit.

They don't care.

And so you don't walk in your life looking backwards because somebody's going to hit you with a car.

You need to be looking forwards.

I mean, just think about that.

Oh, Telegraph Road, 12 Mile.

That's.

My dad had apartments there.

Anyway, so what I'm trying to make sure you understand is this.

Don't dwell on the past.

Forget the God is saying, I'm doing a new thing.

I'm doing something new.

Look at this.

It's like, here, I'm doing something new.

Look.

Don't you perceive it?

Sometimes we don't perceive it because we're stuck in the past.

It's like I'm making a way in the wilderness follow.

I want you to catch something because for some reason the church feels the need to over answer cultural changes that take place.

Look at Jesus.

He didn't care about anyone's opinion.

That's what it says right in the text.

And you do not care about anyone's opinion.

Jesus didn't go.

Yes, I do.

No, he didn't.

He didn't because he didn't.

That's exactly right.

He is true.

So they said, we know that you are true and teach the way of God.

That's alethesis, which means speaking the truth completely, nothing hidden, being real.

He teaches the way of God correctly.

That's a la which is the case is according to the fact and doesn't care about anyone's opinion.

The Greek word here literally means does not look at people's faces.

In other words, when you're doing radio, I can't see faces except for Captain Chris.

Okay.

I can't see if your face is giving approval or denial because the only way that happens is by text or phone or whatever the case may be.

When an actor acts, they can look on stage and see with the audience if there's approval.

Jesus didn't seek people's facial approvals.

He didn't care.

And you think, well, no, he cared plenty.

No, he cared about the mission to save the lost.

He didn't care about those who were going to reject in the capacity that he sought their approval.

He never sought their approval.

He didn't live, let me say that he didn't live for people's positive responses to him.

He walked at the pleasure of the Father.

Whatever the Father wanted him to do or say, that's what he did.

Which is when you'll hear me say, we do it for the author and not the audience.

Because I think some of you people are literally some of the nicest people I have ever met in my human journey, but you still don't have a heaven to put me in.

And that's what it comes down to.

And I know it says, that sounds so, you know, harsh or whatever.

It's like, are you serious?

Okay, if the Lord tarries and I die, you are not going to help me?

I just don't really know what to say it, you know what I'm saying?

And so I want you guys to catch that.

To catch.

This is why Jesus was so different.

It's because he spoke the truth.

He said it according to what the truth was.

And he didn't seek people's approval and share it.

He just was like, look, I'm telling you exactly what the Father's told me to say.

This is exactly how the Spirit's leading me.

Exactly what the Father wants to be said.

And then you look at that and you go, ooh, how about us?

I pray you give great wisdom, insight and sensitivity to Samson, and you bless the work of his hands as he tries to further your kingdom and honor your in everything he thinks, says and does.

All right, let me get into this next thing.

I want to talk to you for a second and I don't know if we'll break or not.

I don't know.

It'll depend on how I feel like the Lord is lead and I'll do my best to follow.

So just work with me here.

Do you ever feel like in your life that there's been something that's been stolen?

Okay.

Do you ever feel like something has been stolen, maybe that you had a blessing and it didn't go as far as you were thinking it would go?

Did you ever have something that you had kind of stuck in your mind and you're like, this is how it's going to come together and then it doesn't happen?

In fact, the Bible says hope deferred makes the heart sick.

So there is a deferment of something you have been hoping for.

Have you ever had this experience?

And I think most people would just really gravitate to this, but you feel like you have lost time, you have lost different things.

We have talked about this in the past, we will talk about it in the future.

But we need to be aware of what's going on in the present.

This is what God says.

This is the kind of changes that the Lord wants to make in our lives.

Joel 2:25.

The Lord says, I will give you back what you lost to the swarming locusts, the hopping locusts, the stripping locusts, and the cutting locusts.

It's amazing that he uses four descriptions of the locust swarming, which is being crowded in hopping, which means almost like elusive stripping, which is the stealing part, and cutting, which is the wounding part.

And The Lord says, I'm going to give it back.

I'm going to help you.

I'm going to move you.

I'm going to get you back to that place.

And people think, well, how is that even possible?

How can what I lost be brought back?

How is that?

Because that's exactly what the word redeemed means.

It means to buy back.

So when you go to a pawn shop.

I know nobody's ever gone to a pawn shop.

We're all Christians.

I get it.

And then you have a ticket and you take an item and then they give you money for it and you gotta, you know, they give you a little ticket for it.

Then when you come to reclaim that property, you give the ticket and you pay it and you have redeemed the ticket.

Or let's use Chuck E.

Cheese.

That's better.

You go and you play at the skittle ball.

Not one of my strengths.

And you throw the little ball up into those little holes.

And I usually get 10 on those, but 20, 30, 40, 50.

And then you get tickets.

You go to the ticket counter with those tickets and you redeem it for a present.

That's redemption.

Only you're the present.

You're the one that's redeemed, and the Lord is the one that does the buying back.

And every time you're going through something and you think, it'll never be the same.

It'll never be like this.

It'll never be like this.

First of all, it's not even true.

You don't know if God will redeem that.

That's not even for you and I to say.

That's why we surrender to the Lord.

But the Lord is able to take one moment and make it last a lifetime because we are stuck by time and he is not.

So I want us to do maybe a better job of like, you know what?

We are going to move from this disparity to blessing, this anticipation that even if we feel like it's been stolen or broken or we lost it, Jesus is our redeemer.

He's the one that buys it back.

He is our redemption.

We don't have to be afraid.

We don't have to operate in fear.

We don't have to operate in anxiety.

We can operate in the peace that passes all, Understand?

We can operate in the presence of God, recognizing that he knows exactly what we need each moment of each second.

And even though the Lord's brought us through troubles and difficulties, he always restores us.

He always brings us back up.

That's what David was Talking about, he said, you will not allow my holy One to see corruption in the ground, always knowing it's coming back.

And the Lord is the redeemer.

Jesus is your redeemer.

And the Lord will not leave you in the lurch.

So take that faith in you that says he will and kick it out of your heart and mind, because God is faithful and true and he will not abandon his kids.

Do you hear that?

Some of you feel like you have been abandoned.

You know what you need to be looking for?

The redemption.

You need to be anticipating.

You need to be thinking, I should be getting ready to receive because God is doing a new thing.

We should be recognizing that he brings streams in the wasteland.

There's water coming for some of you that have been in dirt for a long time.

Get that.

And I got my test back yesterday and the nephrologist told me that my kidneys are good.

Back up.

Wait, go through that again.

Kidney disease.

And then you were praying.

I know you got prayer from other places because you need to get a prayer.

As many prayers as many places.

You did, but I know we did pray for you, too, and it's like we're a part of that and you're rejoicing in the Lord.

That is so cool, Deborah.

I am so blessed.

Oh, me too.

And I want to thank everybody for their prayers.

And I'm always praying for everybody too.

That is so, so good.

I am just blessed beyond measure.

You go through the wilderness, but it gets you to where?

The promised land.

So you go from the bondage through the wilderness to the promised land.

We went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance.

You get this.

It's not how you start, it's how you finish.

When people play golf, it's you drive for show, but you putt for dough.

What does that mean?

That means that when people drive in golf, they hit their first one.

Everybody goes, woo.

Whoa.

Hit a really long ball.

That doesn't mean anything.

It's how the hole is finished.

That's why you drive for show, but you putt for dough in the Christian walk.

Yes.

It's not how you start, it's how you finish.

And God is the one who's telling you, listen, I'm going to restore your life again, and I'm going to bring you up again.

You've been through fire, you've been through water, but guess what?

I'm going to bring you into a place of abundance.

Isn't that phenomenal?

A place of abundance?

What?

2 Corinthians 9, 8.

God is able to bless you abundantly so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Who's doing this?

God.

What's he doing?

Blessing you.

How much is he blessing you?

Abundantly.

For what?

So that in all things, at all times, you'll have everything you need, and you'll abound in doing the things in the name of the Lord.

How about Psalm 126?

When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed.

Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy.

The Lord is able to restore to you that which has been stolen, broken, or lost.

Because God is the Redeemer.

And there is nothing, nothing that you have gone through that he cannot turn around from the palm of his hand.

Listen, it is important for you to catch that God's redemption far outweighs our disappointment.

Listen to that line.

Burn that.

Write that.

Burn that in a piece of wood.

Figure it out.

God's redemption far outweighs our disappointment.

Why?

Because that's who God is.

That's why.

And you're his kid.
