Hello, and welcome to The Traveling Introvert. Today, I'm gonna talk about leadership and thinking like a leader. For some people, it comes naturally, but even if it does come naturally, there's still some training and some honing and some experience that needs to happen to make a great leader. Now if you're trying to become a leader in your field, it will help to understand some of the ways that leaders Think and act, and, no, you don't have to be a manager for this to apply. There are things that effectively just have in common that They do well or have learned to do well or figured out a way that works for them. And one of the Things is sharing your vision effectively, whatever that vision might be. The vision might be, I want everyone in my organization to feel safe. The vision might be, I wanna make sure that everyone takes a walk every day.

The vision might be, I wanna make sure that everyone has a cud cuddly kitten, whatever it might be, you need to share that vision effectively. And because of this, effective communication skills are imperative. Learn as much as you can about human nature and how people communicate in their environments to help bring your vision to life for your team or for yourself first, really, in a method that is really easy and clear and to be understood. Showing empathy is another great quality that amazing leaders have. A truly effective leader can put themselves in someone else's shoes and feel something. If you can't look at others and understand their feelings based on past experiences, even if you're not in your shoes, that's at or their shoes, that's okay. But having an understanding of if this happened to them, they might be thinking x, y, and z, you don't have to know Specifically, you don't have to have gone through that thing yourself, but having an idea of, again, human nature and what that might Make people feel or think or do, and finding ways to show that you have empathy for other humans is really And then the listen more than you talk. You know, the whole saying is we have 2 ears and 1 mouth, So we can listen double the amount.

Janice Chaka [:

Not a lot of peep not everyone does that. And a generally beautiful trait of a good leader is the Ability to listen, not jump ahead, not not think they know what's gonna happen, but actually be present and actively listen to what someone is saying. And listening more than you talk is a great way and will go a long way to helping you think more like a leader because you're gonna learn so much more. Putting the mission first, the mission, the vision. Become really and mission focused and sharing with others that mission in a way that wants that pulls other people towards you that makes them want to put that mission first as well. Also, it helps that way that you're more like to achieve it because you're not gonna be distracted by other things. Practice on action focused goal setting. It's kind of that thing.

Janice Chaka [:

Learning how to set goals are great, but learning how to turn them into daily actions so you're always making pro set progress is a really essential function of a leader. There's different ways. Like, you can have smart goals and all that sort of a thing, but what works for you figuring that out. So you'll be I know this can not just happen at work, but in all areas of your life so that you will become a more goal orientated, mission because action focused, gold human, which will automatically make you a leader. And, of course, you need to be the example. You can't just do the say what I say. That means do what I say, not do as I do. You can't do that.

In other words, you need to practice what you preach. If you tell others they need to save money for retirement and you're not doing it, what kind of a leader are you? If you blog about minimalism, but secretly you're a hoarder, what are you doing? Secretly And not making any steps to change that more to the point. What are you doing? Engage and connect with your people. Take time to to listen to people, talk to people, communicate with them. And last but not least, roll up your sleeves and get in and do the work. You shouldn't be afraid to do any of the jobs that, like, you're asking somebody else to do. Being a leader kind of carries enormous responsibility. Maintaining Values is really important, and to continue being a leader that people look up to and want to follow and emulate suggests, you know, with great and all of that good stuff.

So just think about that when you're thinking about leader, but most importantly, have a mission, communicate it well, and show treat others like humans. That's kinda it. Thank you for listening.
