Wanna be recession-proof? Wanna have job security? Be the top talent that the market is always seeking. Here's how to find out if you already are, or what you need to work on...
So one of the most common questions that I get from candidates and even hiring managers when I talk with them is, "Hey, what's the talent market like?" It is absolutely a question that I answer probably half a dozen times every day, most weeks of every month of every year.
Speaker:
How do you get yourself in a situation that no matter what happens out in the market, that the talent market for you is always good?
Speaker:
I strongly encourage you to take a really good look at your skillset.
Speaker:
Take a look at your accomplishments of this year, last year, the year before.
Speaker:
Be as objective as possible and ask yourself, would you consider yourself top talent in the market?
Speaker:
If the answer is an overwhelming yes, great.
Speaker:
Keep doing what you're doing.
Speaker:
If it's anything shy of that, make a list.
Speaker:
Again, I know you're busy, but there is no time like the present.
Speaker:
What could you do to elevate your skillset, your performance?
Speaker:
What can you do to elevate your own job security in the market?
Speaker:
Is it, "Hey, I need to brush up on these skills that I haven't used in a while"?
Speaker:
Is it, "Hey, I need to become more diverse in how I do things"?
Speaker:
Is it, "I just need to be a better team player"?
Speaker:
I, I don't know what it might be for you, but I do know this: the market for top talent never softens.
Speaker:
So if you wanna be recession-proof, if you wanna be, hey, no matter what happens, you have job security, if you wanna have job security despite M&A activity, be the top talent that the market is always seeking.
