In this episode of Randy Unscripted, Randy discusses his decision to participate in NAPODPOMO, also known as National Podcast Post Month, where creators commit to publishing podcast episodes daily throughout November. He shares what drew him to the challenge, the motivation behind consistent content creation, and the realities of maintaining a daily publishing schedule.
The episode also highlights the independent podcasting community, including references to Pod Indy, podcasting tools like WordPress and PowerPress, and the relationships that help sustain independent creators. Randy reflects on the value of community, experimentation, and simply showing up to create content consistently.
Transcripts
:
It is November 2025, and that means we've entered into NAPOD POMO.
:
That is National Podcast Post Month.
:
The goal is to post a podcast every day for all 30 days of the month of November.
:
It's something that I've not taken part in before, but I decided that I wanted to try it this year.
:
So this year, I'm going to try to post a podcast episode every single day of the month
:
and get those out there. Just a little quick history. Jennifer Navarrete, I believe is how
:
you pronounce her last name. She's the one who created this whole concept back in 2007. And
:
there were 50 different podcasters that took part in NAPODPOMO, National Podcast Post Month,
:
back then. It's still going strong today. Friend of mine, Mike Dell, shout out to Mike Dell's
:
World, great podcast. When he does it, he is taking part in NAPOD POMO and trying to post episodes
:
every day this month. He actually has a theme going on with his. So head over to MikeDale.com
:
or look up Mike Dale's World in your podcast app, and you'll be able to find that and check out what
:
Mike's doing. Also, if you want to get into podcasting, Mike works at Blueberry. Blueberry's
:
an awesome company. They even do a free plugin for WordPress called PowerPress that you can use
:
to do your podcast. That's how I do my podcasts, but I wanted to shout out Mike and what he's doing
:
there. But this is NAPODPOMO. I'm going to try to put an episode out every single day this month.
:
I'm going to try to talk about content that I've talked about on my blog and some other places.
:
I'm even going to talk about Pod Indie, which is coming up on November 8th, 2025. I'm heading over
:
from here in beautiful, rural Milton, West Virginia, just outside of the town of Milton.
:
I'm heading over on the 7th, that direction toward Indianapolis, Indiana, just south of
:
there in Whiteland.
:
I'll be there for Pod Indy on Saturday, taking part in that event that Brad Miller has started
:
and is arranging and putting together.
:
Dr. Brad Miller, he's awesome.
:
Cancer and comedy, great podcast, looking at how humor and laughter is a healing mechanism
:
for the human body and the way things do and to get through things in life and to get through
:
cancer.
:
And that's why Brad started the show.
:
He was getting through cancer himself.
:
So I'll be heading over there, taking part, actually taking part in a panel over there.
:
I was asked to take part in.
:
It's my first podcasting event I've ever gone to in the almost decade I've been in podcasting.
:
So I'm excited for that.
:
I'm excited to be on that panel as Brad invited me with a couple other people and take part in it.
:
So I'm looking, extremely looking forward to it and so happy to go.
:
And I'll have some stuff from over there that I'll include in an episode talking about what's going on in this whole month for Napod Pomo.
:
Also, it also gives me a chance to go and meet someone who I've considered a friend for some time, but never gotten the chance to meet him in person.
:
And that's Dave Jackson.
:
You may know Dave Jackson from the School of Podcasting or from some of the funny things he's done in the past like this.
:
Binky, you're so crazy.
:
Binky, you're so crazy.
:
That's Dave Jackson.
:
Dave is awesome.
:
But Napod Pomo, I'm going to get episodes out every single day this month.
:
That's the goal.
:
And to build up this new show, Randy Unscripted, hosted at randallblack.com slash unscripted.
:
There is an episode there where I talk about my dear friend, Jimmy Clayton.
:
Bam, son.
:
We lost Jimmy back in September.
:
He was my co-host on Shooting It Straight.
:
The first episode of this show actually of me, my reaction to that the night after he had passed away.
:
So stay tuned.
:
Randy Unscripted is going to keep putting some episodes out this month for NAPOD POMO.
:
Hopefully you're a podcaster and you want to be involved in it.
:
There's also the National Novel Writing Month apparently going on,
:
where people are trying to put out something every 30 days throughout the month.
:
So it's the same idea, but in podcasting, we're trying to put our episodes out.
:
So, you know, be excited for podcasting.
:
Podcasting is a medium that despite what YouTube will tell you
:
and despite what Spotify will tell you, is still decentralized and is still powerful.
:
And everyone needs to embrace that if you are a podcaster.
:
Stay on that independent level.
:
If you make it and be successful, great for you.
:
But the goal of podcasting is to be independent, to be decentralized,
:
and to not let those big companies control what we put out there.
:
So please pay attention to that.
:
Also, get episodes out.
:
That's the key.
:
This is my first episode for the month.
:
We'll get into some topics throughout the month as we go through.
:
I'm working on ideas, getting things together, but just keep an eye out for something every
:
day from Randy on Randy Unscripted.
:
And I'm Randy, Randy Black, RandallBlack.com.
:
RandallBlack.com slash unscripted is the page for the podcast.
:
Thank you for listening.
:
Keep it in tune and I will talk to everyone later.
