REFLECTION: Paul. Heb 13:8. Hi, this is Nathan, and we’re at day 12 in our 30 days of promise. The same. Always the same. Yes, that’s the story of Jesus. The phrase ‘same old, same old’ isn’t an expression of appreciation for something, but quite the opposite. We have a tendency to get bored quickly. Yet, in this case, there couldn’t be better news. When matters of enormous consequence are at stake, ‘same old, same old’ is really the highest of compliments. Is it safer to do business with the brand-new, untested mechanic in town—or the one doing the same old honest business for the last 25 years? You get the point. New is good—but when it comes to God, sameness is the ground of our future confidence. His character is deep and steady—an immovable anchor of hope and confidence in a fickle world.
