Okay, now listen, I'm gonna tell you right now, today is not a deep episode.

Today is a girl, let me tell you what happened type of episode, because I just had a moment.

And when I tell you, everything I needed to know was revealed in one doggone sentence.

But before I even get into it, because I need to have a breath, because, you know, you ever have moments where you start reflecting and you make yourself mad all over again?

Yeah, and about that.

But before I even get there, I' ma calm myself down.

But let me ask you, sis, how are you doing?

How are you doing today?

How are you feeling today?

Are you in a good mood?

Are you minding your business?

Are you staying out the way?

Me, personally, I'm sitting here looking cheap.

I got my bonnet on, I got my mumu on.

I am loving my life right now, okay?

Or on the other hand, are you irritated?

Are you just slightly over people?

Are you one interaction away from saying, you know what?

Just go ahead and be honest.

Whatever it is, however you feeling, be honest.

It's a safe space.

I'm not judging.

I do be judging, but I'm not judging, okay?

Because after this story, I ain't got no room to be judging nobody.

You gonna probably feel very validated in whatever it is that you're feeling, okay?

So I'm gonna go ahead and set the scene.

I'm gonna go ahead and set it up properly.

This was, of course, after my divorce.

So I'm outside.

You know, I'm not outside outside, but I'm outside, right?

And I'm like, let me go ahead and see what's poppin.

Let me see what's going on out here.

But cautiously, respectfully, you know, I'm just gonna dip my toe in.

Not the whole thing.

You know, I'm gonna dip my toe in the pool, first of all, because I can't swim, you know, But I'm just gonna dip my toe in and see what it do.

So I meet this man.

The conversation's cool.

Nothing alarming.

Like, nothing that made me think, yeah, yeah, this is gonna be a problem.

So we decide to go on a date now.

We meet up.

Of course, I drove my own car.

And let me just really quick give y' all a backstory in case you.

You know, because some of y' all don't necessarily know me personally.

And for those of you who do know me, you guys may not know this, but there is a reason Why?

I always normally drive my own car, especially when we're going out.

And, you know, I. I'm a little rusty, especially whenever it comes to walking in heels.

So my man had got me a cute little pair of Tory Burches.

And, you know, I couldn't wait to crack them things open, you know, and.

And see what it do.

I've been wearing flats, I've been pregnant, and I'm, you know, working in the salon.

I couldn't wait to throw some heels on.

So I'm in Seattle.

I'm going out with my favorite cousins.

Love y'.

Especially my cousin, who is, like, more like a brother to me.

Love him to death.

I'm still mad about this particular night, but whatever.

Anyway, so we're going out.

I'm out with all my favorite cuddies, right?

And I'm wearing the heels.

So we're at the club.

It's popping.

You know what I mean?

It's popping.

And I'm like, ooh, I've been missing out.

Okay, so I go up to the little top area for whatever reason, and then I'm coming back down, down these set of stairs.

And the stairs are.

Picture it, you guys.

It's like the stairs are like the.

The.

The central focus of the, like, main club, The.

The.

The dance floor, right?

So, like, if you're coming down the stairs or you're going up the stairs, everyone can see you.

So as I'm coming down the stairs, my ankle decides it that I don't need it no more.

I ain't even going to work no more.

So as I'm going down the stairs, I tumble.

I tumble down all the stairs in slow motion.

And I could see my cousin who's walking behind me, my female cousin, and she's reaching out for me in slow motion.

Like, I can see.

It's like, no, right?

And.

But I'm tumbling.

I'm still tumbling, right?

So I get up and I done broke one of the heels, y'.

All.

It's literally.

It's literally an L. It's literally an L. Oh.

Anyway, so I rode with my family, so I didn't.

I didn't have access to leave.

And this is like, even before Uber was really like a thing, right?

Or at least not for me.

I'm out of practice.

I don't know.

I don't go nowhere.

So.

So I'm stuck on this L shaped heel.

I don't I literally done took a L, y'.

All, okay?

I'm on this L shaped heel and I am just having a function for the rest of the night.

And these, this is these.

My cousins are younger than me, so they be really ready to function, right?

And so we are at the club for another additional maybe good couple hours, and then they want to go to breakfast.

I want to go home.

I want to go home.

I am hobbling on this, this L shaped hill, y'.

All.

Anyway, what that taught me in life is that I'm always going to drive myself.

Because if anything were to happen, being as I have not stopped being the accident prone person in the room, I'm going home.

I'm getting in my car and I'm going home.

So anyway, to give, we're gonna go back to the date now.

So obviously I have.

I'm driven myself.

So we meet up and everything seems normal.

We're sitting, we're talking, and I'm thinking, okay, all right, little baby, this is decent.

I mean, nothing crazy, but decent, right?

And then out of nowhere, mid conversation, this man stops, looks me dead in my eyes and says, you know, you got you some nice lips, right?

Friends, listen.

First, silence.

Okay?

Then what, Jigga, what?

Second of all, why would you say that out loud?

And third, sir, we are in public.

Have some cool about yourself.

Now.

In my head, I had about a good 17 at the very least responses.

None of them would have been cool.

None of them would have been appropriate.

None of them would have been kind.

I come from the ranking era.

I am.

That's.

That is a default for me.

I immediately go into clowning mode, okay?

I go into wild n out mode.

And definitely none of the things that had come up in my mind had aligned with the growth that I had at that point worked so very hard on, okay?

Because immediately I knew, this right here is not a man of substance.

You nasty.

This is a man of what that mouth do.

And I was offended.

Not even because totally of what he had said, but because of his audacious behavior, the audacity.

So let's say it.

Sometimes men will tell you exactly what type of time that they are on immediately.

They can't even hide it.

They're not capable.

And y', all, it is your responsibility to believe them.

But wait, because it gets better or worse, I don't know, depending on how you look at it.

Okay, so the date wraps up and I am already mentally checked out.

Like, I'm just like, yeah, no, this ain't it.

We done here.

This man then says to me, well, I took an Uber here.

And I'm like, okay.

And.

And then he follows up with, so, can you take me home?

Now?

Listen, wait a minute.

Because not only did you disrespect me, but now you on transportation.

You want me to try met?

You want me to Metro you somewhere?

And at this point, I'm sitting there like, charlisa, stay calm, stay evolved, stay out of jail.

Because what I wanted to do was not aligned with my future.

It was also not aligned with the lack of bail money that I had stored up at that time.

Okay, if we're going to be real.

But here is the real takeaway.

That moment taught me something very, very, very important.

You don't need a long time to figure out what somebody is about, pay attention to what they say, how they move, what they prioritize.

In this case, my man hadn't prioritized manners or his own vehicle.

The hell?

Because anyway, people are gonna tell on themselves quickly.

And we have all had moments like this where you're sitting there thinking, why did I even come?

Or, you know what?

I should just trusted my first freaking thought.

But instead, you stayed.

And now at least you got a story, y'.

All.

I. I stay with a story.

So let me just say this clearly.

Not every experience is a loss.

It might be his loss anyway, but some of them are just that.

They're just stories.

And, baby, this one.

This one is a story.

So I want you to think about it.

What's a moment where you realize, yeah, nah, this ain't it.

This ain't it.

And you had to just sit there and see it through anyway, my boy, how often has that happened?

Just think about it now before we go.

We're gonna go ahead and bring this on in.

Every experience just doesn't need to turn into something.

Some of them are just simply lessons, and some of them are just funny later.

And that's okay, because at least now you know.

So be gentle with yourself this week, sis.

Stay aware, keep your head on a swivel, and stay connected to yourself until we meet again.
