Welcome to the podcast launch strategy podcast, where we take a deep dive into
Speaker:the latest podcast, launch strategies and tactics to help you launch a
Speaker:successful show and grow your podcast.
Speaker:Hi, I'm temple dang.
Speaker:I'm an online marketing expert podcast.
Speaker:And the host of the mesmerizing marketing podcast.
Speaker:I love helping others share their message globally to build
Speaker:a profitable personal brand.
Speaker:That is mesmerizing.
Speaker:All right, let's get this podcast started.
Speaker:Welcome back to podcast launch strategy.
Speaker:Today, I'm going to be talking about how to launch a podcast
Speaker:show that attract loyal followers.
Speaker:And why is this important?
Speaker:Because loyal followers and fans will follow you wherever you
Speaker:go, whatever you do to whatever new podcasts that you release.
Speaker:And that is the advantage of that.
Speaker:But.
Speaker:Before we get to that part, you have to know how to attract these loyal
Speaker:followers and how to keep them engaged.
Speaker:So that's what we're going to talk about today.
Speaker:So I'm going to share five tips with you on how to launch a show
Speaker:that attracts a lot of followers.
Speaker:So let's get started.
Speaker:So number one is that you have to do your recent.
Speaker:And by research, you really have to know for one who your audience is.
Speaker:There's so many times when people come to me and they say they want
Speaker:to start a podcast and I ask them, well, who is your ideal client avatar?
Speaker:And they're not able to convey that they don't really know it in a manner where
Speaker:they can communicate it effectively.
Speaker:And that's an issue because if.
Speaker:you don't even know who your ideal client avatar is, then how are you going to
Speaker:develop a marketing strategy to speak to that specific audience so I think
Speaker:step one is really doing your research and, determining a couple of things.
Speaker:One is, who is your audience?
Speaker:What do they like to do in their spare time?
Speaker:Are they male?
Speaker:Are they female?
Speaker:What's the age group that they're in.
Speaker:Where do they live?
Speaker:Are they just in the United States?
Speaker:Are they all over different countries?
Speaker:What do they like to do in their spare time?
Speaker:What kind of books do they like to read?
Speaker:What other podcasts are they listening to?
Speaker:Like as much information as you can gather, you want to
Speaker:gather that information and you want to take out a note.
Speaker:Are your notes, app on your iPhone or something.
Speaker:And you want to write all of these things down and for the information
Speaker:that you don't know, you want to start researching your clients and your
Speaker:potential clients, and you want to see, well, who else are they following?
Speaker:What pages are they following?
Speaker:What are they attracted to in terms of.
Speaker:Commenting on, like, what are they commenting on an Instagram, right?
Speaker:What are they commenting on, on LinkedIn?
Speaker:What are they, commenting on Facebook?
Speaker:What are they posting?
Speaker:Whose, content are they sharing?
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:Like if they're sharing Gary V's content, you know that they're a Gary V fan, right.
Speaker:And that information is really useful.
Speaker:So this is what you need to do.
Speaker:You need to do that research.
Speaker:And if you're not sure.
Speaker:About certain things.
Speaker:Part of that research process is you can send out a poll to your email list.
Speaker:You can say to your list, Hey, I'm thinking of launching a new show.
Speaker:If I were to launch a show out of these topics, which topics
Speaker:would you want to hear about?
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:And maybe even you have an idea of a concept for the show and
Speaker:you want to know what concept would appeal to them the most.
Speaker:Go ahead and send out a survey.
Speaker:If you have an email list, and if you don't have an email list, you can
Speaker:still survey people on social media.
Speaker:You can send out a poll in your Instagram stories.
Speaker:You can create a poll on LinkedIn.
Speaker:LinkedIn polls are really, really great for engagement.
Speaker:A lot of people participate in those because.
Speaker:Here's the thing.
Speaker:People always want to be helpful.
Speaker:So for example, if you've ever seen any posts for someone's like
Speaker:posting an example of two different logos or four different logos,
Speaker:and they're like, Hey, which one do you guys like better ABC or D.
Speaker:And you probably have noticed that posts like that get a lot of engagement and
Speaker:that's because people love to chime in when they're asked to contribute.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:And the same concept goes here is like, you can ask your audience by researching
Speaker:them and, and determine what kind of show they would want from you that
Speaker:they would be willing to listen to.
Speaker:And then you go and you build a show and by doing it that way and not
Speaker:just rushing into it, and then just starting a show with no strategy.
Speaker:I always say you have to have a marketing strategy for everything,
Speaker:and that includes your podcast.
Speaker:You have to have a marketing strategy, you'll have to have a launch strategy.
Speaker:You have to have a promotional strategy.
Speaker:Of how you're going to promote your episodes.
Speaker:All of that.
Speaker:Even a strategy for your guests and getting guests.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:There's so many things I know.
Speaker:Sometimes people are like, oh, just go, launch your podcast and,
Speaker:you know, go put it on anchor.
Speaker:First of all, don't put it on anchor.
Speaker:Don't recommend it.
Speaker:But secondly, if you want to have a successful show, you do need to think of.
Speaker:If you just want to launch a show randomly without giving it any thought you can, but
Speaker:is it going to end up being successful?
Speaker:Probably not.
Speaker:And there's a lot of podcasts out there that don't make
Speaker:it beyond the fifth episode.
Speaker:And I don't want your podcast to be one of those.
Speaker:I want you guys to be able to take your podcast and turn it into a
Speaker:platform to share your voice authentic.
Speaker:With the world with your clients, with your future clients and to grow your
Speaker:business and to grow your personal brand.
Speaker:Because I do believe it is one of the best ways to do that.
Speaker:So for me, this is not my only podcast right now.
Speaker:You guys are listening to podcasts, launch strategy, but I have two other podcasts
Speaker:and pretty soon, like more than two.
Speaker:So I also have.
Speaker:Mesmerizing marketing, which it's going to be linked in the show notes.
Speaker:Definitely go subscribe to that and check it out.
Speaker:But that's, you know, that's my main podcast, but I wanted to do something
Speaker:exclusively just for people that are interested about podcasting and launching
Speaker:their show and promoting their show.
Speaker:So that's why I have podcasts on strategy.
Speaker:And then I wanted to do something for fun.
Speaker:So.
Speaker:I did something that's not work-related, but it's more
Speaker:like fun and it's entertaining.
Speaker:So I am a sex in the city fan and sex, and the city just launched
Speaker:a couple of weeks ago, their new revival called and just like that.
Speaker:So I launched a podcast called and just like that fans.
Speaker:And it's been.
Speaker:Really a hit so far and it just is something fun.
Speaker:And I like it because when I'm recording for that, it doesn't feel
Speaker:like work well, actually, to be honest, even when I'm recording for my other
Speaker:podcast, it doesn't feel like work.
Speaker:And the reason for that is I love podcasting.
Speaker:It makes me happy.
Speaker:And it just something that even if I'm having a bad day, if I turn on
Speaker:my microphone and I recorded episode.
Speaker:It just puts me in a better mood.
Speaker:It makes me feel better.
Speaker:So that's the power of podcasting and sharing your.
Speaker:All right.
Speaker:So number two is you want to make them feel part of the process, which kind
Speaker:of goes hand in hand with number one, a little bit of some of the things I shared
Speaker:of, you know, asking them what they want.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:And, and putting that in there, but also let's talk about making
Speaker:them feel part of the process.
Speaker:Once you have launched your show.
Speaker:And part of that is getting feedback from them and seeing what type of content.
Speaker:They would like to see more of what type of episodes they would like,
Speaker:what are some of their favorite episodes that you've released and why?
Speaker:So I think podcasting should not be a one way communication with your
Speaker:audience, where you're putting out episodes and they're communicating,
Speaker:but I think there should also be a way whether they can email you are, I'm
Speaker:going to provide a tool in a minute that they can also communicate with you
Speaker:and they can give you their feedback.
Speaker:So one of these, tools that I recommend as a platform called speak pipe and speak
Speaker:pipe is amazing because a allows you to create a personal page and you don't
Speaker:have to install anything in your website.
Speaker:You can create a voicemail page where your audience, your guests that are
Speaker:listening to your show can send you voice messages are, you can even.
Speaker:Embedded onto a specific page of a website or a blog, or you can
Speaker:attach it as a widget that shows up as a side button on your website
Speaker:and how you can use SpeakPipe.
Speaker:Is that.
Speaker:You can tell your audience, Hey, I want to know what some of the challenges are like
Speaker:you're facing right with a, B or C or D.
Speaker:And you can say, I want you to go to my website, go to speak pipe and, you know,
Speaker:tell me what some of your challenges are or tell me what questions you have.
Speaker:And I will answer those questions on one of my episodes, right?
Speaker:And I think it gets the audience really involved and it makes them
Speaker:feel like they're part of the process and it also helps them feel special.
Speaker:And this is a great way to just foster that engagement.
Speaker:And what I would say you can do is you can take this and you can have your
Speaker:audience record messages of even some of your favorite episodes and why.
Speaker:And then you can do another episode and you can talk about.
Speaker:All of these guests and you can thank them for being loyal fans and subscribers.
Speaker:And I think that, you know, every now and then, like you can do episodes like that.
Speaker:Like even me, for people that love to reviews on mesmerizing marketing and
Speaker:one of my random episodes, I called all of them out and I thanked them.
Speaker:And then I linked them in the show notes because I think it's really important
Speaker:to show appreciation for other people.
Speaker:So if someone leaves your review, you do want to let them know that you appreciate.
Speaker:And that's one way that you can do that.
Speaker:So definitely go check out.
Speaker:SpeakPipe I'm going to put it in the show notes for you guys.
Speaker:All right.
Speaker:Number three is that you want to thank them and you want to
Speaker:make them feel appreciated.
Speaker:So again, do you guys see what I'm doing?
Speaker:I'm kind of building off of each key point and they're almost like very connected.
Speaker:They're all tied together.
Speaker:So, like I said, you want to thank them.
Speaker:You want to thank them for listening to your show.
Speaker:You want to thank them for sharing your show.
Speaker:You want to thank them for leaving reviews and you want to make them feel special.
Speaker:You want to make them feel like you appreciate them.
Speaker:And that's really important.
Speaker:So it's like saying thank you.
Speaker:It calling them out by their name, it, seeing what you can do to support them.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:And people will really appreciate that.
Speaker:And that is how you build and attract loyal followers and loyal followers
Speaker:are really important because they are the ones that are going to
Speaker:download and listen to every episode.
Speaker:They're the ones that are going to tell their friends about your show.
Speaker:All right.
Speaker:Number four is ask for feedback and topic ideas.
Speaker:So you do want to ask for feedback as well, it makes them feel like
Speaker:they're part of the entire process and you want people to feel.
Speaker:You care about them and you want your listeners to feel like you care about them
Speaker:and that you do want to hear from them.
Speaker:So ask for feedback, don't be afraid to share your email address with them.
Speaker:Don't be afraid to say, Hey, jump on a call with me.
Speaker:Don't be afraid to say, go to my website and leave me a message and speak pipe.
Speaker:And I will, you know, get back to.
Speaker:So ask for feedback, ask for even topic ideas, ask for questions and
Speaker:use that information for your future episodes, because the more you give
Speaker:your audience, what they want, the more loyal they're going to become,
Speaker:the more engaged they're going to be.
Speaker:And then that is also how you build a loyal community and nowadays
Speaker:building a community so important.
Speaker:And a podcast is a.
Speaker:Then you can also use to build your community online and I'll
Speaker:do a separate episode about that.
Speaker:So just make sure you guys the scriber right now, so you don't forget so that
Speaker:when I do release an episode on building community, you will be the first to know.
Speaker:All right.
Speaker:And number five is be consistent.
Speaker:Consistency is key.
Speaker:And I'm sure you've heard this before.
Speaker:Consistency is key in everything that you do, but it's definitely
Speaker:also key when it comes to podcasting.
Speaker:So if your audience is expecting you to have one new episode a week, you want to
Speaker:have one episode a week, and if you're going to be on vacation for two weeks,
Speaker:then you should prerecord those episodes and make sure that you set them up to go.
Speaker:On those dates and you can be sitting on a beach drinking pina coladas, and
Speaker:it is all good, but you don't want your audience to forget about you.
Speaker:And I think that even during like the holidays, right, right now it's
Speaker:the holidays and Sunday, and I'm recording this podcast episode.
Speaker:And that is because I want to build a loyal community as well.
Speaker:So if I don't show up for you guys, how do I expect you to show up for me?
Speaker:So be consistent.
Speaker:And if you guys do have any questions about launching your
Speaker:own show, reach out to me.
Speaker:I am here to help you.
Speaker:My email's in the show notes.
Speaker:I also have my launch, your podcast one day live masterclass coming up in January.
Speaker:We did a couple of them.
Speaker:They were absolutely amazing.
Speaker:That is where we spend like five plus hours together, live over zoom.
Speaker:And we go through the entire process of launching your own show.
Speaker:And you guys can get the details in the show notes, but also let me
Speaker:know, like what I can do to support you, but let me know what type of
Speaker:topics would be of interest to you when it comes to launching your.
Speaker:Launching your show.
Speaker:And even once it's launched, right.
Speaker:And you want to grow your show or you want to handle like, you know, marketing
Speaker:and promotions, you know, send me some topic ideas that may be some questions
Speaker:and I will make sure that I will incorporate those into future episodes.
Speaker:so thank you guys so much.
Speaker:If I don't talk to you before and you do celebrate Christmas, have an amazing
Speaker:Merry Christmas and enjoy your time off.
Speaker:Enjoy time with family and friends and reach out to those that might
Speaker:be spending Christmas alone,
Speaker:have a Merry Christmas.
Speaker:Thank you for listening to the podcast launch strategy podcast.
Speaker:If you found this episode valuable, please subscribe to the show and go

Speaker:and learn about my launch, your podcast masterclass, a comprehensive
Speaker:six hour masterclass to help you launch and monetize your first show.
