This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom

A Christmas Turkey Story – Humor Unplugged

Wisdom – the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.

Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1022 of our trek, and it is time for a 3-minute mini-trek called Humor Unplugged. Our Thursday podcast will provide a short and clean funny story to help you lighten up and live a rich and satisfying life – something to cheer you and provide a bit a levity in your life.

We are told in  Proverbs 15:30, “A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health.” We are also encouraged in Proverbs 17:22, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.” Consider this your vitamin supplement of cheer for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s funny, which is titled…

A Christmas Turkey Story

Sarah, a new young bride, calls her mother in tears. She sobs, “Richard doesn’t appreciate what I do for him.”

“Now, now,” her mother comforted, “I am sure it was all just a misunderstanding.”

“No, mother, you don’t understand. I bought a frozen turkey, and he yelled and screamed at me about the price.”

“Well, the nerve of that lousy cheapskate,” says her mom.  “A frozen turkey is only a few dollars, especially this time of year.”

“No, mother,” Sarah replied, “it wasn’t the price of the turkey. It was the price of the airplane ticket.”

Now Sarah’s mom was really confused at this point, so she asked, “An airplane ticket…What on earth did you need an airplane ticket for?”

“‘Well mother, when I went to fix it, I looked at the directions on the package, and it said, ‘You must prepare from a frozen state,’ so I flew to Alaska to cook it.”

Well, I hope that brought a smile to your face today.    Here are Gramps’s Christmas Gift suggestions that will not cost you anything: To your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart. To a customer, service. To all, charity. To every child, a good example. To yourself, respect.

Our Thursday Scripture Reference is the greatest gift that God gave to all the world John 3:16, “For this is how God loved the world: He gave[a] his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

Just as you enjoy these nuggets of humor, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of our Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.
