Transcripts

Yeti X:

Welcome friends to the creative, spiritual journey podcast.

2

:

Sunny Bonanni from the

motherland of South Africa.

3

:

It's here that my husband and I are

serving a mission for the church of

4

:

Jesus Christ of latter day saints.

5

:

My name is Judy Cooley, along

with my sister-in-law Ghia Cooley.

6

:

We are your host.

7

:

But we'd rather you consider us more

like your hiking buddies together.

8

:

We'll step out the front door and onto the

path that leads through the wilderness.

9

:

Beyond the horizon to

stand on mountain tops.

10

:

We'll share what's in our

hearts, our love for the savior

11

:

and his beautiful creations.

12

:

As well as the joys and the lessons

were discovering along the way.

13

:

So will you rise up, shake off

the dust, pick up your packs

14

:

and join us on the trail.

15

:

Today is day 440.

16

:

Yay.

17

:

I have been numbering the

nd,:

18

:

When we embarked on this

mission to go and gather Israel.

19

:

And it's been quite the

adventure of highs and lows.

20

:

Today is also March 17th, 2025.

21

:

St.

22

:

Patrick's day.

23

:

So hopefully you're wearing

green, so you don't get pinched.

24

:

Maybe you're wearing a three

leaf Clover called the Shamrock.

25

:

Maybe you're one of the lucky

ones to get, to attend a parade.

26

:

Or search for leprechauns.

27

:

I know my son and his wife.

28

:

Do some pretty funny things.

29

:

With the leprechaun.

30

:

And his shenanigans in the house

and blame it on the leprechaun.

31

:

It's quite funny.

32

:

I have one friend who

fixes an all green meal.

33

:

For her family.

34

:

Family.

35

:

And my mom used to fix

corn, beef and cabbage.

36

:

I don't know about you, but

I love corn beef and cabbage.

37

:

So who is St.

38

:

Patrick?

39

:

And what is this day all about?

40

:

I invite you to do a Google search.

41

:

Because I am just going to give you

a quick cliff note version of who

42

:

he is and what I think is the pot

of gold at the end of the rainbow.

43

:

So.

44

:

St.

45

:

Patrick's story takes place

way back in the fifth century.

46

:

When the world to me was still wild.

47

:

He was born actually in

England, two Roman parents.

48

:

So he's not very Irish.

49

:

He is best known for bringing

Christianity to a pagan nation of Ireland.

50

:

This, I found fascinating that as a young

man, he was captured by Irish pirates.

51

:

And front taken from his

home and family and enslaved.

52

:

was an animal herder.

53

:

For six years and he actually experienced

starvation and being abused and beaten.

54

:

So he had quite the challenge

as a young man growing up.

55

:

It was there that he said he heard.

56

:

The word of God.

57

:

And he finally escaped and returned to.

58

:

His family.

59

:

Where.

60

:

he grew up to be a man of the

cloth in the Roman Catholic church.

61

:

And here's where he was so courageous.

62

:

He returned to Ireland.

63

:

He felt drawn to return back to

Ireland where he was the slave.

64

:

In hopes to bringing knowledge

of Jesus Christ to them.

65

:

To me, this is courageous.

66

:

Humility.

67

:

Here's his words.

68

:

This is while he's a missionary end.

69

:

Ireland.

70

:

For daily, I expect to be murdered.

71

:

Or be trade.

72

:

Or reduced to slavery.

73

:

If the occasion arises.

74

:

But I fear nothing because

of the promise of heaven.

75

:

For, I have cast.

76

:

Test myself into the hands of the.

77

:

Almighty God who reigns everywhere.

78

:

As the prophet says, cast your burden

on the Lord and he will sustain you.

79

:

Isn't that wonderful.

80

:

I as a missionary am never expect to

be murdered or betrayed on a daily.

81

:

Occasion.

82

:

So this man had courage.

83

:

So today in your

celebrations of the Irish.

84

:

Of St.

85

:

Patrick's reflect back on him

and his courageous humility.

86

:

And how you can integrate a little bit

of luck of the Irish into your life.

87

:

And with that thought, I want

to share with you something the

88

:

spirit has been nudging me to do.

89

:

and that is to begin each episode

asking you a question of the soul.

90

:

What.

91

:

Our soul searching questions.

92

:

The first time I heard this

phrase, I was in the MTC.

93

:

In the preach, my gospel.

94

:

That the book of Mormon answers,

soul searching questions.

95

:

And then in teaching and

sharing the gospel ask.

96

:

Open-ended questions.

97

:

Not yes and no questions.

98

:

Questions that cause us

to reflect and ponder.

99

:

And I'm, I wasn't used to that

this has taken some practice.

100

:

And also just.

101

:

Just our last zone conference are.

102

:

Mission president.

103

:

president macaque asked us to.

104

:

Look in the scriptures.

105

:

For the questions Jesus asked.

106

:

And take them and apply

them when we teach others.

107

:

So when he said that the first

question that popped up, but my

108

:

mind is found in Matthew eight.

109

:

So in Matthew eight, we have the apostles.

110

:

On a ship with the savior.

111

:

And I'm sure it's been a long day

because the Savior's actually asleep.

112

:

When a big storm rises so big.

113

:

That they fear.

114

:

They are in peril that their lives.

115

:

Are in danger.

116

:

And this is, this is from the

scriptures, Matthew eight.

117

:

First 24.

118

:

When they entered into a ship,

his disciples followed him.

119

:

And behold there rose a great Tempest

in the sea in so much that the ship was

120

:

covered with the waves, but he was asleep.

121

:

And his disciples came to him in

a, woke him saying, Lord, save us.

122

:

We perish.

123

:

And he said into them.

124

:

Why are you fearful?

125

:

Oh, ye of little faith.

126

:

Okay.

127

:

Then he arose and he rebuked

the winds and the sea.

128

:

And there was a great calm.

129

:

Haven't you been fearful?

130

:

I know that's a silly question

because I think we're all wired.

131

:

To detect.

132

:

Dangerous.

133

:

We naturally feel fear.

134

:

Of.

135

:

Of danger.

136

:

And the unknown.

137

:

This fear is actually a

useful tool to survive.

138

:

And it's a good thing to

know and recognize tigers.

139

:

And when we need to run from

them, Here in South Africa.

140

:

We haven't dared go off the beaten

trail in the mountains, hiking because

141

:

of our fear of black mambas and green

mambas and puff adders and cobras.

142

:

So Sometimes fear's a good thing.

143

:

let me ask you.

144

:

How would you answer the

Messiah when he asks.

145

:

You have little faith.

146

:

Why are you so afraid?

147

:

I recently had an experience

in my morning, studies reading

148

:

a passage and scriptures.

149

:

And all of a sudden this wave of fear

came up and I thought to pray asking.

150

:

Why do I fear?

151

:

This, why do I feel such fear,

heavenly father reading this and

152

:

how can I instead have faith?

153

:

Let me ask you to think of a

time when you were fearful.

154

:

When it would have been

more helpful to be faithful.

155

:

And you've had the savior.

156

:

Calm the storm tossed sees for you.

157

:

Yeti X-5: You can see how.

158

:

Asking questions.

159

:

Soul searching questions opens

up your mind and your heart.

160

:

To reflection.

161

:

To remembering experiences

Teaching you how to become better.

162

:

Questions.

163

:

Are important.

164

:

Not only for the savior

to ask us, but us to ask.

165

:

Our father in heaven That is how.

166

:

This whole gospel was restored.

167

:

With questions.

168

:

Yeti X: Our first grandson.

169

:

Loved to ask questions.

170

:

He was in that curious stage

171

:

Y.

172

:

Y how, how, why.

173

:

Why this, how that.

174

:

And sometimes it got a little bit,

ah, Just because you wanted to reply.

175

:

But I think asking good questions.

176

:

We learn.

177

:

It's part of our progress,

just like a little child.

178

:

Asking questions.

179

:

I think that's why the

savior asked questions.

180

:

So we would search.

181

:

Elder.

182

:

Ted.

183

:

Our Callister said a good

question is like an alarm clock.

184

:

It awakens us out of our mental doldrums

and jumpstarts our mental engines.

185

:

Don't you love that?

186

:

It's an alarm clock to awaken our senses.

187

:

So I got curious, just how

many questions did Jesus ask?

188

:

According to John Hill,

the third and Brad Wilcox.

189

:

They wrote a book titled.

190

:

52 life changing questions.

191

:

the questions in the book of Mormon.

192

:

And it says that in the book of

Mormon, there are 543 questions.

193

:

Jesus Christ Ash, 35 of those questions.

194

:

And then according to Zach is.

195

:

Zehnder.

196

:

Hope I said your name, Zack.

197

:

Right.

198

:

Um, he is from the red letter living.

199

:

I think he might be a pastor.

200

:

But he wrote an article

called 305 questions.

201

:

Jesus asked.

202

:

Apparently he asked how many

questions did Jesus ask?

203

:

And the new Testament.

204

:

I found out there's 300 or five.

205

:

Well, Guinea.

206

:

And I often talk about how we

can own improve this podcast.

207

:

And have it be more of an

experiential conversation where

208

:

together we can become better.

209

:

By experimenting upon the words of Christ.

210

:

And become a Dewar.

211

:

Not just a listener.

212

:

So if you've listened to this podcast

for a while, you've noticed that Ghia and

213

:

I speak a lot about meditative prayer.

214

:

And contemplation and pondering.

215

:

And this is because.

216

:

We can testify in no of the

blessings of peace and strength

217

:

that is brought into our lives.

218

:

So, of course we want to share it

with you, our friends, the listeners.

219

:

This is why I'm going to be including

in this episode, a guided meditation

220

:

upon the soul searching question.

221

:

Jesus asked, why are you so fearful?

222

:

What fear ye.

223

:

So, if you're interested, you

can just queue up the next

224

:

episode at your convenience.

225

:

And if meditation is just

not quite your cup of tea.

226

:

You can just skip it and move on.

227

:

I love that we are all blessed with this

wonderful gift to choose for ourselves.

228

:

So why meditation?

229

:

And pondering upon a question.

230

:

I heard this recently on one heart,

one mind podcast with Thomas McConkie.

231

:

And if any of you know him, he

is like the LDS meditation guru.

232

:

He quoted Howard Truman.

233

:

And I'd love to read this to you.

234

:

Quote, the experience of

prayer can be nurtured.

235

:

And cultivated.

236

:

It can create a climate in which

a man's life moves and functions.

237

:

Indeed.

238

:

It may become a very way of

living for the individual.

239

:

It is ever possible

that the time may come.

240

:

When a man carries such

an atmosphere around him.

241

:

And gifts.

242

:

Uh, quality to all that he

does and communicates it spirit

243

:

to all who crossed his path.

244

:

This was the most remarkable

impact of the life of the master

245

:

upon those whom he encountered.

246

:

It was this, that still

the raging of the madman.

247

:

That called little children

to him that made sinners know

248

:

that their sins are forgiven.

249

:

His whole countenance glowed

with that glory of the father.

250

:

And the secret.

251

:

A great while before day, he withdrew

to a solitary place and prayed.

252

:

As was his custom.

253

:

That's found in mark

254

:

One verse 35.

255

:

At even the sun had set.

256

:

And they brought onto him

all that were diseased.

257

:

And then that were possessed with devils.

258

:

And the city was gathered

together at the door.

259

:

So a lot of people.

260

:

Endless line of people

lined up to be healed.

261

:

Many that were sick of diverse.

262

:

Diseases.

263

:

And cast out many devils and suffered.

264

:

Not that devil is to speak because

they knew him in the morning,

265

:

rising up a great while before day.

266

:

He went out and departed into a

solitary place and there prayed.

267

:

This is how important it was for him.

268

:

I'm sure he was exhausted.

269

:

But in order to be refueled.

270

:

Recharged.

271

:

He rising up a great while before day.

272

:

He went out and departed into a

solitary place and there prayed.

273

:

Meditative prayer

rejuvenated the savior soul.

274

:

I know it can.

275

:

Do the same for us.

276

:

Christ wouldn't just ask questions

and leave us there in the dust.

277

:

Pondering.

278

:

our fears.

279

:

And stead.

280

:

If we search those words in the

scriptures, we find answers.

281

:

There are so many times.

282

:

God and his angels, tell us fear.

283

:

Not.

284

:

Yeti X-6: for example.

285

:

Yeti X: Like in Luke two.

286

:

The night the savior was born.

287

:

The angel said.

288

:

Fear not.

289

:

For behold, I bring you tidings of

great joy, which shall be to all

290

:

people and in Luke eight, while he

yet spake, there came from one, a

291

:

ruler of the synagogue's house St.

292

:

NTM.

293

:

My daughter is dead trouble, not

the master, but when Jesus heard

294

:

it, he answered saying fear, not.

295

:

Believe only, and she will be made whole.

296

:

I love that in modern scriptures

and doctrine covenants.

297

:

There's a lot about lifting

up our heads and be glad.

298

:

Fear not little flock.

299

:

The kingdom is yours until I

come behold, I come quickly.

300

:

Doctrine covenants 50 41.

301

:

If you're not little

children for you are mine.

302

:

And I have overcome the

world and you are them.

303

:

That my father has given me.

304

:

And none of them that my father

had given me shall be lost.

305

:

Wow.

306

:

Now, if that doesn't calm

your fears, I don't know.

307

:

What does.

308

:

And in doctrine, covenants 98, 1

rarely AC, and to you, my friends

309

:

fear not let your hearts be comforted.

310

:

And rejoice.

311

:

I love that word.

312

:

Rejoice evermore and an everything.

313

:

Give thanks.

314

:

And then of course him.

315

:

Number 85, a favorite of the saints here.

316

:

I swear, you have to sing

it at almost every meeting.

317

:

How from F foundation

verse three, Fear not.

318

:

I am with the OB not dismayed for I

am by God and will still give the aid.

319

:

All strengthen the help

thee and cause the to stand.

320

:

Upheld by my righteous.

321

:

Oh, nip attent panned.

322

:

So fair enough, my friends, he

calms the stormy seas, so he

323

:

can calm your trouble, heart.

324

:

And I know you're wondering what is the

pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?

325

:

for me.

326

:

And I think Saint Patrick would agree.

327

:

That the treasure is knowing the love.

328

:

And the courage.

329

:

Of the savior Jesus Christ.

330

:

Would you agree?

331

:

And how I wish.

332

:

I could imitate an Irish

accent to finish this off.

333

:

There's an Irish blessing That says.

334

:

Wishing you a pot of gold and

all the joy your heart can hold.

335

:

or mid.

336

:

Maybe we should say, let the shenanigans.

337

:

Negan's begin.

338

:

Thanks.

339

:

My friend.

340

:

friend.

341

:

for walking with me.

342

:

If you've enjoyed our time

together, please leave us a review.

343

:

And one of those thumbs.

344

:

Is up and then share us with.

345

:

A friend.

346

:

Ghia.

347

:

And I have a goal of reaching

over a hundred followers.

348

:

On the creative, spiritual journey.

349

:

Thank.

350

:

You.

351

:

For.

352

:

Being here we.

353

:

Love you.

354

:

and I will see you.

355

:

on the trail.
