Shownotes
Our guest this episode is a Waycross music authority. He’s a songwriter, a musician and a lover of the art and craft. He’s a Waycross music historian and probably knows more about Gram Parsons’ first 12 years spent there than anyone. In this episode Billy Ray and Dave discuss growing up together in Waycross, their former bands and their time writing songs together. They also discuss how they first learned that Gram Parsons was from Waycross and how learning of him and about his music influenced their paths as songwriters. They even put out a phone call to another Waycross native and fellow songwriter, Larry Murray of the “Scottsville Squirrel Barkers” and the “Blue Guitar” store fame. They get Larry’s take on his role in the early country-rock scene in Southern California in the 60’s.
