This episode of the David Spoon Experience explores the profound faith of Abraham as he is called by God to leave everything familiar behind and embark on a journey to an unknown land. Dr. Dave also gives a nod to Brother Ace, who is now hanging out with Jesus. David Spoon delves into the significance of Abraham's unwavering trust in God's promises, highlighting that true faith often requires stepping into the unknown without a clear destination. The discussion emphasizes the importance of leaving one's comfort zone, relatives, and even the safety of home in pursuit of God's calling. Alongside biblical insights, David shares personal reflections on his own journey of faith and the challenges that come with it. This episode serves as an encouragement for listeners to embrace their own faith journeys and trust in God's guidance, even when the path ahead is unclear.
Takeaways:
David Spoon brings listeners on an enlightening journey through the early chapters of Genesis, focusing specifically on the life of Abraham and the profound faith that God required of him. The discussion begins with the biblical narrative of Terah, Abraham's father, and their family's departure from Ur of the Chaldeans. This travels to Haran, where they settled before reaching the promised land of Canaan. Spoon draws powerful parallels between Abraham's journey and the listener's personal faith journeys, emphasizing that often we embark on paths without fully knowing where they lead. The core message is about trusting God despite uncertainty and the importance of seizing the promises of faith, even when circumstances appear daunting or impossible. Spoon's personal anecdotes enrich the narrative, showing how faith can lead to transformative experiences, urging listeners to reflect on their own challenges and the ways God might be calling them to step out in faith.
As the conversation unfolds, Spoon highlights the significance of God's covenant promises to Abraham, illustrating that despite Abraham and Sarah's inability to have children, God’s promise to make them the father of a great nation was not contingent on their circumstances but rather on His divine will. This idea resonates deeply, encouraging listeners to recognize that God often calls us to trust His plans, even when they seem far-fetched or beyond our understanding. Spoon’s vibrant storytelling and heartfelt reflections serve as a reminder of the faithfulness of God and the extraordinary things that can happen when we dare to believe in His promises.
The episode also touches on the theme of community and connectedness—how our journeys of faith are intertwined with others and how we can support one another. Spoon emphasizes the role of prayer, community support, and sharing experiences as vital elements in nurturing faith. He invites listeners to engage with the show, offering opportunities for prayer requests and sharing praise reports, fostering a sense of belonging and spiritual family. Overall, this episode is a rich exploration of faith, obedience, and the promises of God, leaving listeners inspired to seek a deeper relationship with the Divine and embrace the unknown paths ahead.
And now for something completely different.
David Spoon:Here's what's coming up this hour on today's experience.
David Spoon:It's marvelous, monumental, most fascinating, massively mind bending Monday as we join our hearts and minds as one, drawing closer to the King of Kings and glorifying his name.
David Spoon:First, starting off in Genesis 11, we're going to examine verse 31 where Terah takes his son Abram and his daughter in law Sarai and his grandson Lot and departs from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan.
David Spoon:But on their journey, they stop before reaching Canaan and ended up settling in a village called Haran.
David Spoon:It is here in Haran that Terah, Abraham's father, dies.
David Spoon:This departure from the Ur of the Chaldeans was what the Lord wanted for their family.
David Spoon:But they had not yet reached the destination that God had promised.
David Spoon:This is very much like what happens to you and me.
David Spoon:Out of something into something else.
David Spoon:Haven't quite arrived yet.
David Spoon:Next, in Genesis 12, beginning at verse one, we find God giving Abraham a separate command.
David Spoon:It's a most amazing command.
David Spoon:Please keep in mind that Abraham had no Bible, no church, no group or fellowship of counselors.
David Spoon:And the Lord tells Abraham to leave.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:Finally, verse 2 of chapter 12 in Genesis begins with great promises.
David Spoon:The first is that God promises Abraham he will become the father of a great nation.
David Spoon:Right away we must understand that Abraham and Sarah, they couldn't have children.
David Spoon:Abraham and Sari couldn't have kids.
David Spoon:So this was going to be a very interesting experience from the start.
David Spoon:And Abraham by faith would seize these promises.
David Spoon:How are we doing in seizing the promises?
David Spoon:David Spoon's life has been an experience.
David Spoon:While growing up in a Jewish family, he made a wrong turn towards drug abuse.
David Spoon:Then David Spoon found Jesus Christ and his life completely changed.
David Spoon:The more he studied the Gospel, the more he wanted to share his experiences with others.
David Spoon:After 35 years of ministry, David discovered a new path of service.
David Spoon:He joined KAM and this radio program began.
David Spoon:You're about to hear the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Welcome to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Local, national and heavenly talk.
David Spoon:Here's what else we're looking at during the show.
David Spoon:Lessons for surviving living and prevailing politics, entertainment and current events, personal revelations, sports, spiritual observations.
David Spoon:My life's insanity is annoy so much more.
David Spoon:Now, we've been telling you for quite some time, typically Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays, that it's not professional radio.
David Spoon:So just to verify that it's not professional radio, we're going to check with the jury foreman of professional radio.
David Spoon:Now he knows why that's funny.
David Spoon:The jury foreman of professional radio, our very own Jam and Jacob.
David Spoon:Jam and Jacob is the David Spoon Experience Professional radio.
Jammin Jacob:No, it is not, David.
Jammin Jacob:And that's a good one.
Jammin Jacob:That's.
Jammin Jacob:I like that one.
David Spoon:That's a good one.
David Spoon:That was pretty clever, huh?
David Spoon:All right, here's the bottom line.
David Spoon:The bottom line is not professional radio.
David Spoon:It's radio.
David Spoon:Take it easy.
David Spoon:Take a deep breath.
David Spoon:It's cool.
David Spoon:It's fine.
David Spoon:Here.
David Spoon:Here's what we want to know.
David Spoon:We want to know how you're doing, what you think.
David Spoon:David must increase dot org.
David Spoon:That, by the way, is our email.
David Spoon:And it works.
David Spoon:Which is by grace.
David Spoon:David must increase.org you can also text us.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:You can also call us.
David Spoon:Oh, my.
David Spoon:It's a telephone.
David Spoon:No way.
David Spoon:Yeah, and it works.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Talking to Jammin Jacob is like knowing that your spiritual radio family has your back.
David Spoon:That's nice.
Jammin Jacob:Thank you, David.
Jammin Jacob:Happy Monday.
David Spoon:Happy Monday to you, my friend.
David Spoon:We will get into Jake's take in a little while.
David Spoon:We got some other things that we need to do prior.
David Spoon:It's good to have you on board, especially as the jury foreman of professional radio.
David Spoon:That's always good.
David Spoon:Bottom line to this whole thing is I'm going to try and say bottom line less than I normally do in our show and just tell you that there are reasons to reach out to us.
David Spoon:You can email us, text us or call us because it could be for a praise report.
David Spoon:Now, I'll just ask this and I'll do it in a semi manipulative way.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:So I'm telling you ahead of time, I'm doing it in a semi manipulative way.
David Spoon:Ready?
David Spoon:Here's the praise report opportunity.
David Spoon:Has God done anything in your life in the last week that you can point to and say thank you for?
David Spoon:And do you want to share that?
David Spoon:Well, you can.
David Spoon:That's what we're talking about.
David Spoon:Because it glorifies the Lord, it strengthens it in your own life, plus it blesses other people.
David Spoon:A little bit of manipulation in that.
David Spoon:I'd say you can do it for a prayer request because we'll pray about it.
David Spoon:Bring it before the Lord.
David Spoon:So we already prayed for finances and people along Those lines, we're going to be praying for some friend's health as well as a wayward son that's not doing well.
David Spoon:We all can relate to that.
David Spoon:We'll do that in just a little bit.
David Spoon:But it can be that a prayer request, something going on.
David Spoon:It can be just a scripture.
David Spoon:The Lord's put on your heart just giving this scripture and he keeps bringing it to you and it keeps ministering to you and maybe that will minister to other people.
David Spoon:Additionally, it could be something along the lines of a trivia question and answer.
David Spoon:So here we go.
David Spoon:We already established this.
David Spoon:Jonah went to preach against Nineveh.
David Spoon:But instead of going to Nineveh, Jonah went where?
David Spoon:Jonah, chapter one, verse three.
David Spoon:God told him, go to Nineveh.
David Spoon:But he had a little bit of a rebellious streak in him.
David Spoon:You know, even prophets have that going on.
David Spoon:And he went to a different city.
David Spoon:Where did he go?
David Spoon:A hint might be somewhat connected to a guy named Saul, but we'll leave that there.
David Spoon:I'm talking about New Testament Saul.
David Spoon:Jonah decided to go to which city instead of nineveh.
David Spoon:Jonah, chapter one, verse three.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Or you can send an email.
David Spoon:David, David must increase.org get that?
David Spoon:Got that?
David Spoon:Cool.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:So I want to make sure you understand these opportunities.
David Spoon:I also want you guys to understand something, okay?
David Spoon:We will do in this ministry our best that we can do continually to be a blessing.
David Spoon:We want not just to bless you, we want you to be a blessing to us.
David Spoon:And I'm not just talking about money, I'm talking about prayers and things of that nature.
David Spoon:We will only do the best that we can do before the Lord.
David Spoon:But it's up to the Lord.
David Spoon:I want to make this so clear.
David Spoon:People keep thinking that they do the ministry.
David Spoon:There's not one minister that has ever done one thing that has not been enabled by God to do it.
David Spoon:And that's why no flesh will glory in his presence.
David Spoon:That's why even when you have great success in work, in life and relationships, in anything, it is a grace and a gift.
David Spoon:Nobody is entitled.
David Spoon:In fact, after our first 10,000 sins, we were all entitled to be zapped into non existence.
David Spoon:But God's mercy is greater and I just want you to remember that.
David Spoon:So when you're doing Things or things are happening for you.
David Spoon:You're getting blessed by a ministry.
David Spoon:Something's happening.
David Spoon:All of that points to one place, the Lord.
David Spoon:The Lord gets the glory.
David Spoon:Get that?
David Spoon:No other is entitled.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:Okay, cool.
David Spoon:All right, your trivia question.
David Spoon:Jonah decided to go to which city instead of Nineveh.
David Spoon:We do have somebody on the line ready to answer a trivia question.
David Spoon:Let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Caller:And a fine.
Caller:Good afternoon to you, David.
Caller:This is jd.
David Spoon:Hello, jd.
David Spoon:How are you, my brother?
Caller:I only hurt myself a little bit.
Caller:Thanksgiving.
David Spoon:So it was good.
David Spoon:Only a little bit of wounding, huh?
Caller:Yes, sir.
David Spoon:That's a great one, brother.
David Spoon:Very, very, very good.
David Spoon:All right, here we go.
David Spoon:You ready for this?
Caller:Yes, sir.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Jonah decided.
David Spoon:God said, okay, Jonah, go to Nineveh.
David Spoon:Jonah said, sure.
David Spoon:And then he went to a different city.
David Spoon:Jonah, 13, what was the city that he went to?
Caller:The only thing I can come up with with your clue would be Tarsus.
David Spoon:That is correct, if I know.
Caller:Good clue.
David Spoon:So it could be Taris, or it could be Tar.
David Spoon:It's like, that's fine.
David Spoon:That's where Paul came out of.
David Spoon:That's kind of an interesting thing.
David Spoon:And it's funny because if you understand it from a geographical point of view, it's kind of like this.
David Spoon:Maybe this is a good way to say it.
David Spoon:God said, hey, Jonah.
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:I want you to go to Dallas.
David Spoon:And Jonah went, okay.
David Spoon:And then he went to Houston.
David Spoon:See, that's kind of how that went.
David Spoon:And that's the wrong direction, dude.
David Spoon:You're going the wrong way.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:It's like, yeah.
David Spoon:No, no.
David Spoon:You're not listening, are you, Jonah?
David Spoon:Okay, Jonah, we'll see what happens.
Caller:But Jonah did get the message, didn't he?
David Spoon:Amazing.
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:And we're going to do more on Jonah.
David Spoon:That's why it's really rather funny.
David Spoon:But you're doing pretty well overall, brother.
Caller:Yes, yes.
Caller:Thank you very, very much.
David Spoon:Awesome.
Caller:Thank you, sir.
David Spoon:I like hearing that.
David Spoon:I like it.
David Spoon:When people need prayer, I'm for it.
David Spoon:When people are doing well, I'm for it, too.
David Spoon:I like that, too.
David Spoon:See what I'm saying?
David Spoon:It's good to hear.
Caller:Yes, sir.
David Spoon:You're a blessing, brother.
David Spoon:We appreciate you.
Caller:And you, too, sir.
Caller:Thank you.
David Spoon:God bless.
David Spoon:Bye.
David Spoon:Bye.
David Spoon:All right, so excellent call by jd.
David Spoon:Phenomenal.
David Spoon:Phenomenal.
David Spoon:All right, so I'm going to take a little bit of extra time.
David Spoon:I'm going to pray for people that have wayward children, and you might have felt it more.
David Spoon:So this Thanksgiving or some people might have.
David Spoon:And we're going to pray for them, plus a specific family somebody has called in for a request.
David Spoon:And then I'm going to do a teaching.
David Spoon:And in the teaching, I'm going to share some sad news.
David Spoon:So I want you to just hang out with me and don't go anywhere.
David Spoon:But let's go to the Lord in prayer for people that are having a struggle physically, but then also having a struggle, because sometimes family members are more prodigal than we want them to be.
David Spoon:Get it?
David Spoon:Let's pray.
David Spoon:Father, we come before you right now and we thank you and we praise you.
David Spoon:Your graciousness, like we said, it's just.
David Spoon:It's past us, Lord, your kindness is past us.
David Spoon:Your goodness exceeds us, and we are deeply, deeply thankful.
David Spoon:And, Lord, many of us, myself included, have children that are along those prodigal, rebellious lines, and it hurts us.
David Spoon:They're adult children, but they're still our kids.
David Spoon:And it's like they go out to spend their inheritance and live wildly.
David Spoon:And, Lord, we're just broken for them.
David Spoon:We want them to do so much better.
David Spoon:We want them to draw close to you.
David Spoon:We want them to know you.
David Spoon:And sometimes that it really affects us as parents.
David Spoon:It causes problems for us emotionally and physically.
David Spoon:So first and foremost, I want to pray for the parents that have stuff going on that their health would not be subject to those disappointments, that there would not be that connection.
David Spoon:But instead, you would be Jehovah Rapha, the God that heals.
David Spoon:And you bring healing mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional to us parents, mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
David Spoon:And, Lord, as we look at that story of the prodigal, it dawned on the prodigal that he was heading in the wrong direction.
David Spoon:You gave him that revelation, Lord, in the story, so to speak.
David Spoon:Well, we're just asking you to give our kids who are prodigal the revelation, the illumination that they would come to their senses and they would come home primarily first to you.
David Spoon:We lift them up before you and pray for grace and mercy and kindness for the parents, for healing for the parents, and for hope.
David Spoon:And we pray for redemption and restoration for the prodigals.
David Spoon:Help us in this, Lord, as only you can.
David Spoon:Only you can in our earth.
David Spoon:Lord, let your will be done.
David Spoon:Let your kingdom come.
David Spoon:We pray in Jesus name.
David Spoon:Amen and Amen.
David Spoon:Okay, now I want to get into this teaching, and then I got to share something, and I told Jacob I didn't know how this was going to go.
David Spoon:We're just going to kind of roll with it.
David Spoon:So let me start off real quickly.
David Spoon:This is coming out of Genesis chapter 11.
David Spoon:It's picking up basically in verse 31 says Terah took his son Abram and his daughter in law Sarai and their grandson Lot, which was Haran's son, and left Ur of Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan.
David Spoon:But they stopped instead at the village of Haran and settled there.
David Spoon:Verse 32.
David Spoon:Terah lived for 205 years and he died while he was still in Haran.
David Spoon:So just from a practical biblical point of view, you have Terah taking Abraham and Sarah and Lot, they leave the Ur of Chaldeans, they go to the land of Canaan, but they stopped in the journey.
David Spoon:And then they settled in Haran for a while.
David Spoon:And Terah, Abraham's father, died.
David Spoon:This is what the Lord wanted, the departure from the Ur of the Chaldees to go to the next place.
David Spoon:That's what the Lord wanted for their family.
David Spoon:But they had not yet reached the destination of the promised land.
David Spoon:They're still in journey.
David Spoon:Did you hear what I just said?
David Spoon:They've not yet reached the destination of the Promised land.
David Spoon:They're still in journey.
David Spoon:Well, we have one of our very own that has followed Terah, our very own.
David Spoon:Brother Ace on Friday passed away into the hands of Jesus.
David Spoon:He passed away and he prayed for the Lord to take him.
David Spoon:He prayed for the grace of God to surround him and for him to be in the glory of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
David Spoon:And the Lord said yes on Friday.
David Spoon:Now, for those that know Brother Ace from the show, Brother Ace has been listening to the show for over.
David Spoon:The show has been over five and a half years old.
David Spoon:He's been listening for over five years and calling in.
David Spoon:And when we do a replay and it acknowledges him, I'll bring that up that it was him.
David Spoon:Here's what I want you to know.
David Spoon:Brother Ace is doing so much better than we are.
David Spoon:And I have this weird sense or confidence that Brother Ace is getting a chance to meet somebody that I also love who's up there.
David Spoon:And many people, I should say, but some who are closer to me than others.
David Spoon:So Pastor Ray and Brother Ace, I have a feeling have met and are blessing one another by grace, I suspect.
David Spoon:I'm not dropping theology here.
David Spoon:I'm just sharing my hope in my heart.
David Spoon:Now, tomorrow, Brother Ace, they're having a service for him and it's at the Miles Cemetery at 2:00pm in Miles, Texas.
David Spoon:So if you're interested, this is being coordinated by a group called Harper Funeral Homes.
David Spoon:And he's having a.
David Spoon:It's basically, it's a graveside service and it'll be tomorrow at 2pm and if you want more information, you want to look up Miles Cemetery in Miles, Texas.
David Spoon:And William Roser was going to be doing the officiating.
David Spoon:And this is coordinated by Harper Funeral Home.
David Spoon:So if you need that again, send me a text, send me an email.
David Spoon:I'll send it out to you.
David Spoon:It'll be tomorrow at 2:00 for those that may want to attend.
David Spoon:But we remember Brother Ace as a phenomenal brother and we are blessed that he is more blessed than we are.
David Spoon:He was a great brother here on earth.
David Spoon:I have no doubt he's impressing people in heaven to a degree.
David Spoon:You know what I'm talking about.
David Spoon:In the very bottom of the thing they wrote for Brother Ace, well done, my good and faithful servant, until we meet again.
David Spoon:And I, I can say a wholehearted amen to that, Brother Ace.
David Spoon:We will see you as soon as we can.
David Spoon:All right, folks, we're gonna take our break and then come back.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Short break.
David Spoon:We'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.

Announcer:Right here on K aam.
David Spoon:The deterioration of the ecosystem or creation itself is definitely the result of man.
David Spoon:You say, well, how can you say that?
David Spoon:Well, Romans, chapter 8, verse 19 through 21.
David Spoon:I just read the scriptures, I don't need anything else.
David Spoon:The Bible says this.
David Spoon:The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.
David Spoon:For the creation was subjected to frustration not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it in hope that the creation itself would be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
David Spoon:Creation itself is longing for the redemption that comes through Jesus Christ.
David Spoon:And until that takes place, it is on a collision course down.
David Spoon:The result of the ecosystem or creation itself crashing is a result of man's sin in the garden.
David Spoon:So when they say, oh well, it's not man made.
David Spoon:Oh yes it is, of course it's man made.
David Spoon:It's because we messed up in the garden.
David Spoon:But I wasn't with Adam and Eve.
David Spoon:You were in the person of Adam and Eve.
David Spoon:And if you want me to use it, you are in the life giving force of Adam and Eve.
David Spoon:And if you want me to really say it, you were in the loins of Adam and Eve.
David Spoon:You were there too.
David Spoon:They stuck their fist up to God and said nope.
David Spoon:And God went, okie dokie.
David Spoon:Here's the result.
David Spoon:The David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:That's a double amen.
David Spoon:770, the Truth Station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Yet another Jonah trivia question.
David Spoon:What?
David Spoon:Another one?
David Spoon:Yes.
David Spoon:Let's see if you guys can get this one.
David Spoon:This is a classic and you should know this one.
David Spoon:What was Jonah doing on the ship during the storm?
David Spoon:He got on a ship heading in the opposite direction.
David Spoon:While he was on the ship he was doing something.
David Spoon:When the storm hit the boat, it was something similar to Jesus as to what Jesus was doing on a boat.
David Spoon:Jonah, chapter 15.
David Spoon:What was Jonah doing on the ship?
David Spoon:What?
David Spoon:During the storm, when the storm hit.
David Spoon:It is something similar that Jesus did when he was on a boat.
David Spoon:There's your Clue, Jonah, chapter one, verse five.
David Spoon:If you think you know the answer.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:David must increase.org okay, now, having that before you, I'm just giving you that again.
David Spoon:Jonah was doing something on the ship during the storm.
David Spoon:So he's on a boat.
David Spoon:He's heading away from the Lord.
David Spoon:The storm comes.
David Spoon:What was Jonah doing?
David Spoon:Hmm.
David Spoon:Interesting.
David Spoon:And it turns out to be the same thing that Jesus did when he was on the boat.
David Spoon:Jonah, chapter one, verse five.
David Spoon:In the meantime, we will do our DNA.
David Spoon:D stands for Draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:So unlike eating dinner, Thanksgiving dinner, one day a year, which is how some of you have your devotions, daily, happens to mean every day.
David Spoon:So I want to set this up.
David Spoon:We've already talked about this.
David Spoon:So I want to set this up in a unique way.
David Spoon:Every day that you actually breathe.
David Spoon:Every day that you actually breathe, that's daily.
David Spoon:That's how often you should spend time with the Lord.
David Spoon:Every day that you breathe.
David Spoon:If you don't breathe an entire day, then you'll be with the Lord.
David Spoon:But if you breathe, if you breathe in that day, you should spend some time with the Lord.
David Spoon:Get it?
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:D.
David Spoon:Draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:N.
David Spoon:Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:I've got a story that I'm going to share tomorrow.
David Spoon:It's in the realm of real estate.
David Spoon:Aunt Deb will appreciate it.
David Spoon:I'm not going to share it yet today, but let's put it this way.
David Spoon:Dr.
David Spoon:Dave has been saying for a long time they're going to try and make the Bible hate speech.
David Spoon:When you hear this story that happened out of Virginia, it will blow your mind.
David Spoon:They are trying to make people ashamed of the word of God.
David Spoon:Never be ashamed.
David Spoon:Jesus said, if you're ashamed of me or my words, I will be ashamed of you.
David Spoon:When I come in glory with the holy angels, I'm just like, whoa, I don't want Jesus ashamed of me ever.
David Spoon:I do stupid things.
David Spoon:I got that.
David Spoon:But some things I can stand firm in, and that's to never be ashamed of Jesus or his word.
David Spoon:So D, Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:A.
David Spoon:Always be ready.
Jammin Jacob:To serve.
David Spoon:To serve.
David Spoon:Always be ready to serve.
David Spoon:Just ready.
David Spoon:You're ready for the Lord, whatever he's got in mind, you're ready.
David Spoon:Somebody's knocking at the door, you're ready to open it.
David Spoon:That's the imagery that we should have with the Lord.
David Spoon:If the Lord knocks, we're ready to open, we're ready to respond.
David Spoon:We're on it.
David Spoon:We're not so self consumed that we can't be used by The Lord.
David Spoon:That's the key.
David Spoon:Not so self consumed, ready to minister to other people, to situations.
David Spoon:Could be prayer.
David Spoon:Could be a smile, could be a message.
David Spoon:Communication.
David Spoon:Could be anything.
David Spoon:Anything and everything doesn't matter.
David Spoon:We're ready to respond to the Lord.
David Spoon:Here am I.
David Spoon:Send me D.
David Spoon:Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:A Always be ready to serve.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:That is our DNA.
David Spoon:All right, so here's a couple things that I'm going to ask you guys, if you will please bear with me, and that is I need prayer.
David Spoon:I've been asking you guys to pray for me, for wisdom.
David Spoon:I also have a few minor health issues.
David Spoon:You can probably tell in my throat, it's a little dry.
David Spoon:So I've got that.
David Spoon:Plus another thing that I'm going to the doctor for later on.
David Spoon:So please be in prayer for me.
David Spoon:That would be greatly appreciated.
David Spoon:In the meantime, if you can answer the trivia question, that would be cool.
David Spoon:Jonah, when he was on the boat going the wrong direction.
David Spoon:He was doing something.
David Spoon:He was doing something on the boat going the wrong direction.
David Spoon:Jonah, chapter one, verse five.
David Spoon:It turns out it's the same thing Jesus did when he was on the boat.
David Spoon:What is it that Jonah was doing?
David Spoon:Jonah, chapter one, verse five, if you think you know.
David Spoon:Okay, now I'm only going to tease this for a little bit, and then I'll give you the answer to the trivia and you'll know why.
David Spoon:We are in Genesis, chapter 12, verse 1.
David Spoon: to Genesis: David Spoon:Now we're going from Genesis chapter 12:1 to Revelation 50, and it's going to be a whole nother process.
David Spoon:Up to this point, we've been looking at sin and sinfulness and redemption and the flood and judgment and different things.
David Spoon:Now God is moving this to an individual process as he is establishing the nation of Israel, which is the apple of his eye.
David Spoon:Genesis, chapter 12, verse 1.
David Spoon:Then the Lord told Abraham, leave your country, your relatives and your father's house and go to the land that I will show you.
David Spoon:What I think I'm going to need a rainbow for confirmation to do anything like that.
David Spoon:God, where is it in the scripture?
David Spoon:Oh, wait, Abraham didn't have a Bible.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:You getting that?
David Spoon:I want you to see what happens.
David Spoon:This is a level of commitment that is all about faith because Abraham had no idea where he was going.
David Spoon:Do you know every second you know everything you're going to do.
David Spoon:Do you know where you're going?
David Spoon:Sometimes you have to just go in faith, trusting.
David Spoon:But, Dave, I don't have as much control exactly how the Lord loves it.
David Spoon:Because then you're more dependent on him.
David Spoon:You getting that?
David Spoon:I just want to make sure you catch that.
David Spoon:Super important, okay?
David Spoon:Super important.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Now, I don't know if we have somebody for the trivia or not, do we?
David Spoon:We do have somebody for trivia.
David Spoon:We're going to give them a chance.
David Spoon:So we'll send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Caller:Hello, David.
Caller:This is Stephen.
David Spoon:Hello, Stephen.
David Spoon:How are you, sir?
Caller:I'm asleep, but I'm trying to wake up.
David Spoon:Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
David Spoon:That's an excellent job, brother.
David Spoon:At first I thought you were going to drop.
David Spoon:I'm still recovering from Thanksgiving dinner.
David Spoon:But then when you said that and I realized where we were at, it was like, aha.
David Spoon:He was sleep.
David Spoon:He's taking a nap.
David Spoon:He's sleeping.
David Spoon:That's one thing that Jonah had in common with Jesus.
David Spoon:Rough waters.
David Spoon:I'm gonna take a nap.
Caller:If you could suffer me just a little bit.
David Spoon:Yes.
Caller:I have a terrible joke to share.
David Spoon:You do?
David Spoon:Is it really terrible?
David Spoon:Because that's good.
David Spoon:I need a good, terrible joke.
David Spoon:What do you.
David Spoon:I mean, I'm for it.
David Spoon:What do you got for me?
Caller:Well, there was an old baseball player who.
Caller:He played baseball all his life, and that was.
Caller:Seemed to be the most important thing for him here on Earth.
Caller:He was knowing he was, you know, go to heaven one of these days.
Caller:But.
David Spoon:Yeah, your radio.
David Spoon:You're backing up on your radio.
David Spoon:Turn your.
David Spoon:Turn your radio down real quick.
Caller:Oh, my radio's not on.
David Spoon:Okay, well, then we just got some feedback.
David Spoon:Okay, go ahead.
Caller:One day he had a dream and saw his best friend who had passed a few earlier.
Caller:Few years earlier.
Caller:And he said, I only have one question for you.
Caller:Is there baseball in heaven?
Caller:And his friend answered, I've got good news and bad news.
Caller:The good news is, there is baseball in heaven.
Caller:The bad news is you're pitching Saturday.
David Spoon:There you go.
David Spoon:There it is.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Hey.
David Spoon:Excellent, excellent joke.
David Spoon:Excellent, excellent joke.
David Spoon:The good news is, yes, there is the bad news.
David Spoon:You start Saturday.
David Spoon:Excellent job, brother.
David Spoon:Very, very strong.
David Spoon:I love it.
Caller:You have a blessed day.
David Spoon:You too, brother.
David Spoon:God bless you.
David Spoon:Come on.
David Spoon:That's a great joke right there.
David Spoon:Good news.
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:There's baseball, bad news.
David Spoon:You start on Saturday.
David Spoon:You're pitching on Saturday.
David Spoon:All right, we'll take our break and then we'll come back you're listening to the David Smith Experience right here on KAM 770, the true stationary, Texas.
David Spoon:Short break.
David Spoon:We'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
David Spoon:What is the David Spoon Experience for?
David Spoon:This is the kind of high priest we need.
David Spoon:Holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.
David Spoon:He doesn't need to offer sacrifices every day as high priests do, first for their own sins and then those of the people.
David Spoon:He did this once for all when he offered himself.
David Spoon:Now watch this.
David Spoon:Oh, boy, this is so unbelievable.
David Spoon:Jesus is a unique kind of priest.
David Spoon:He is your high priest.
David Spoon:He is so unique.
David Spoon:And you think, why?
David Spoon:What is it that makes Jesus unique?
David Spoon:And you already know, well, it's because he's born from the Holy Spirit and he's born from Mary.
David Spoon:So he's fully man, fully God.
David Spoon:And it's like, okay, I get that part.
David Spoon:But there's something else that we miss quite often, and that is Jesus is undefiled, separated from sinners.
David Spoon:And verse 27 says, he doesn't need to offer sacrifices every day like the high priests do, first for their own sins.
David Spoon:So let me explain this to you.
David Spoon:When priests or petitioners or people are praying on your behalf, every human being has to deal with their own set of sins.
David Spoon:It doesn't matter if it's the high priest of Israel.
David Spoon:It doesn't matter if it's the high priest.
David Spoon:One year, 20 years later, 40 years later, there is something that takes place.
David Spoon:It's the same dynamic that takes place when you spend time with the Lord and you come before the Lord and you thank him and you recognize the grace of God enables you to stand.
David Spoon:Because apart from that, the grace, apart from the mercy, apart from the love that comes from the Lord in the redeeming work from Jesus Christ that you receive by faith, that he gives by grace.
David Spoon:Apart from that, you're a mess.
David Spoon:And so when you come before the Lord, you're like, lord, you know, please forgive me.
David Spoon:Please don't be mad.
David Spoon:Please, you know, don't chasten.
David Spoon:David said it great.
David Spoon:Don't chasten me in your hot displeasure.
David Spoon:I don't want to get you irritated.
David Spoon:Na da da da.
David Spoon:You see, when Jesus comes and petitions for us, he doesn't have to go through that.
David Spoon:He doesn't have to be centered on himself to be forgiven, because there's nothing for him to be forgiven.
David Spoon:He's sinless.
David Spoon:He doesn't need to offer sacrifices for what he's done or for any of the lacking that he would have if he was a regular human priest.
David Spoon:So when Jesus comes on our behalf, there's nothing.
David Spoon:Get this, get this.
David Spoon:Here it is.
David Spoon:There's nothing distracting him in his life.
David Spoon:He is only focused on our well being.
David Spoon:Oh, welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:That's K AA Men 770, the true station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Got another trivia question, another Jonah question.
David Spoon:Get your brains ready.
David Spoon:This is sharpening the brain time.
David Spoon:Here we go.
David Spoon:What happened when Jonah was thrown overboard?
David Spoon:What happened?
David Spoon:Don't go too far in advance.
David Spoon:What's the first thing that happened when Jonah was tossed overboard?
David Spoon:When?
David Spoon:Let's just say his head just hit the water.
David Spoon:What happened immediately at that moment?
David Spoon:Make sure that you look it up because it's easy to get this wrong.
David Spoon:Jonah 1, chapter 1, verse 15.
David Spoon:What's the immediate thing that happened when Jonah was tossed?
David Spoon:That is the question.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:David must increase.org so I'm asking for the most immediate thing that happened when Jonah was tossed overboard.
David Spoon:What happened immediately?
David Spoon:I mean as in like as soon as he's out of the boat, maybe even before he hit the water.
David Spoon:Who knows?
David Spoon:Jonah 1:15 is your reference point.
David Spoon:Before we do any of that, I am going to send you to the website again.
David Spoon:There are a couple things for you to be aware of.
David Spoon:There's cool stuff on the website and there's cool stuff on the website.
David Spoon:Both those things.
David Spoon:Check out the website.
David Spoon:He must increase.org prayer request.
David Spoon:He must increase.org praise report.
David Spoon:He must increase.org looking to give to this ministry.
David Spoon:He must increase.org confused by what's happening right now.
David Spoon:He must increase.org he must increase.org it's just so happy.
David Spoon:It's happy, you know, like if something happens to you, I'm going to.
David Spoon:If I have to say something to you, I'm going to play that music in the background, whatever it is, so that you're just smiling whenever, no matter what I say.
David Spoon:How about that?
David Spoon:That's funny.
David Spoon:Bad news.
David Spoon:You're going to be working on an even older board.
David Spoon:But before I tell you that, I'll just have that music playing in the background.
David Spoon:You'll be like, okay, sure, great.
David Spoon:That's great.
Jammin Jacob:It's my official theme song.
David Spoon:There you go.
David Spoon:That's great.
David Spoon:All right, so the question, a question, the question.
David Spoon:What happened immediately when Jonah was thrown overboard?
David Spoon:Somewhere between being thrown overboard and maybe hitting into the water, what happened to him?
David Spoon:Jonah, chapter one, verse 15.
David Spoon:We do have somebody that is ready to answer the trivia question.
David Spoon:Let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Caller:Hello, David, this is Curtis.
Caller:Happy Monday, my brother.
David Spoon:Hey, Curtis.
David Spoon:How are you, brother?
Caller:Man, I'm doing just fine.
Caller:Out driving around town, enjoying this beautiful weather and listening to my favorite show.
David Spoon:It's a nice thing for you to say, Kirst.
David Spoon:I really do appreciate it.
David Spoon:Sometimes the show's better than others, but I love it that you listen to all of them.
David Spoon:It's just great to have people who do that.
David Spoon:And I really appreciate it.
David Spoon:So you're a blessing in that way.
David Spoon:Do you have a nice Thanksgiving, by the way?
Caller:Man, I did.
Caller:I probably gained five to seven pounds.
David Spoon:If I had to get it.
David Spoon:Alright, so you just said it's okay to be honest here.
David Spoon:Out of all that stuff, what was your favorite thing that you ate?
Caller:Oh, man, you know, it's a toss up between mashed potatoes and all the pies.
David Spoon:Notice he said all the pies.
David Spoon:That's good.
David Spoon:Yeah, yeah, that's a great one.
David Spoon:All right, so here's our Triv question.
David Spoon:All right, so Jonah was thrown overboard.
David Spoon:Now, even before he hit the water, something happened.
David Spoon:What happened when Jonah was tossed overboard?
Caller:I believe the minute he hit the water, the raging sea grew calm.
David Spoon:That is correct.
David Spoon:Of a no.
David Spoon:And again, the parallel with Jesus is amazing.
David Spoon:I mean, he's sleeping.
David Spoon:Jesus was sleeping in the storm.
David Spoon:Then Jesus gets up and calms the storm.
David Spoon:When he gets tossed off the ship, then the storm stops, it's like, that's a pretty cool thing.
David Spoon:And remember Jesus said, you're not getting any sign.
David Spoon:But the thing that happened with Jonah, which is the other stuff, but I'm just saying it's very cool, that connection.
David Spoon:But it's still amazing that even as a prophet, he was sleeping.
David Spoon:They throw him overboard saying, oh, don't get mad at us, Lord.
David Spoon:Here he goes.
David Spoon:What an answer from the Lord.
David Spoon:Like, wow.
David Spoon:Yeah, that's great, Great, great, great job.
Caller:One of my favorite stories in the Bible, for sure.
David Spoon:Absolutely, Absolutely.
David Spoon:Absolutely.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Excellent job, my brother.
David Spoon:Phenomenal.
David Spoon:I really appreciate it.
Caller:I appreciate you too, David.
Caller:I hope you.
Caller:Hope you have a blessed day, my friend.
Caller:You and Jacob both.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Thank you, bro.
David Spoon:Bye.
David Spoon:Bye.
Caller:Thank you, David.
David Spoon:Bye.
David Spoon:All right, Great job.
David Spoon:Of course.
David Spoon:Just a wonderful, great calls today.
David Spoon:Thank you, guys.
David Spoon:I really appreciate it very much.
David Spoon:Okay, so before we do anything else, we do have to do this.
David Spoon:And some people are going to be happy.
David Spoon:Actually, even Sergio is going to be happy.
David Spoon:We're gonna do Jake's take.
David Spoon:All right, Jake, it is your take.
David Spoon:What do you got for us?
Jammin Jacob:Well, David, Thanksgiving morning, the Detroit Lions took on the Chicago Bears in a closer game than I expected.
Jammin Jacob:I don't know.
Jammin Jacob:I think we both played the Lions.
Jammin Jacob:Correct.
David Spoon:Correct.
Jammin Jacob:Yeah, we both picked the Lions, but I thought the Lions went by more.
Jammin Jacob:They ended up winning 23 to 20 and what looked like for a little bit, it would be an easy win.
Jammin Jacob:But the Bears came back and made it a close game.
Jammin Jacob:And did you see the ending?
David Spoon:Yes, yes, I did.
David Spoon:Yes, I did.
David Spoon:The wonderful time management ending?
David Spoon:I did.
David Spoon:I did see that.
David Spoon:And I gotta tell you, in the last two minutes, I kept thinking, don't be the Lions of old.
David Spoon:Don't be the Lions of old.
David Spoon:Don't be the Lions of old.
David Spoon:Because it just falling apart and letting it be close.
David Spoon:Like, what are you guys doing?
David Spoon:I mean, that with the clock management for the Bears, that was.
David Spoon:That was really unique.
Jammin Jacob:Yeah, the lines of old were slowly rearing their head.
Jammin Jacob:They were peeking out behind the curtain.
Jammin Jacob:But then the Chicago Bears, which just like the Lions a lot of their history, have not been great, the Chicago Bears went ahead and reared their head and said, hey, we're still the Bear, so we'll find a way to mess this up.
David Spoon:That's right.
Jammin Jacob:The lines went close.
David Spoon:Grasping.
David Spoon:That's right.
David Spoon:Gasping the victory out of the jaws of defeat.
David Spoon:Something like that.
David Spoon:All right, so that was a good win there.
David Spoon:We called that.
David Spoon:And then what happened in the other game then?
Jammin Jacob:The Dallas Cowboys also won later that day, beating the New York Giants.
Jammin Jacob:And that was.
Jammin Jacob:Overall, it wasn't as close of a game towards the end, but I thought the Giants actually competed better than I thought they would because I knew the Giants weren't a great team.
Jammin Jacob:But that one was kind of a.
Jammin Jacob:You watch it and you say, yeah, both teams aren't great, but hey, the Cowboys got another win.
David Spoon:That's right.
David Spoon:That's.
David Spoon:And that's two in a row for them, isn't it?
David Spoon:That's like two wins in a row if they didn't win the week before.
Jammin Jacob:Yeah, they're on a win streak right now.
Jammin Jacob:Yeah.
Jammin Jacob:And after.
Jammin Jacob:After really falling behind, they're starting to pick it back up.
Jammin Jacob:So, yeah, we'll see if the Cowboys can keep it going.
Jammin Jacob:And yeah, the Cowboys and Lions both on a big winning streak.
Jammin Jacob:And you mentioned the Lions, right?
Jammin Jacob:Have a tough game coming up.
David Spoon:They have.
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:What's coming up is Detroit in Green Bay on a Thursday night.
David Spoon:And that is not good.
Jammin Jacob:That would be a great game.
Jammin Jacob:I'm ready to watch that game.
Jammin Jacob:That'll be good.
David Spoon:That is going to be a good game.
David Spoon:You're right.
David Spoon:Excellent job, sir.
David Spoon:Once again from Jake's take.
David Spoon:Congratulations on that.
David Spoon:All right, let me do a little bit of Boy, I don't know if we're going to hear a chance to break.
David Spoon:I don't know what we should do here.
David Spoon:I'm just going to do a little bit of teaching.
David Spoon:So just hang in there.
David Spoon:I mean, that's really the thing.
David Spoon:And I might take a breath and just do history.
David Spoon:We'll see how that goes.
David Spoon:But here's something I want you to catch.
David Spoon:And we left off on this 12:1 Genesis 12:1 and where we said Then the Lord told Abraham, leave your country, your relatives and your father's house and go to the land.
David Spoon:I will show you.
David Spoon:So this text is exceedingly important because, well, for many reasons.
David Spoon:But keep in mind, Abraham had no Bible, no church, no group, no fellowship.
David Spoon:He had no places to counsel.
David Spoon:This is the Lord telling Abraham to leave.
David Spoon:Now, I want you to understand something.
David Spoon:He's told to leave three different ways.
David Spoon:And listen to what this says, because this shows you the depth that God has called Abraham to.
David Spoon:And his response.
David Spoon:First he says, leave the country.
David Spoon:Then he tells him, after he leaves the country, he says, leave the country.
David Spoon:Leave your relatives.
David Spoon:And then he takes it a step further and says, leave your father's house.
David Spoon:I want you to catch that.
David Spoon:It's kind of one of those cool things in scripture.
David Spoon:It's progressive.
David Spoon:Leave your country.
David Spoon:Okay, out.
David Spoon:Time to go out.
David Spoon:You're gone.
David Spoon:Leave your relatives.
David Spoon:That's that security blanket, what we typically will have.
David Spoon:And then the ultimate security blanket, your very home.
David Spoon:Leave that, too.
David Spoon:Leave all of that and go to a land that I will show you.
David Spoon:So what God requires is Abraham to leave everything he knew and to follow God.
David Spoon:Now listen to why I'm saying that.
David Spoon:He's told to leave the country.
David Spoon:He's told to leave his relatives.
David Spoon:He's told to leave his father's house to go someplace he's never seen.
David Spoon:And to say yes is to have faith that God is not only telling him to go somewhere, but that God has a plan.
David Spoon:And there are times in our Christian walk where The Lord wants us to do this Abraham thing.
David Spoon:In fact, if you look at Galatians 3:9 and Galatians 3:29 and pretty much all of Galatians 4, we find out that we're closely connected to Abraham as heirs of the same promise he received.
David Spoon:And we're connected to him by his faith.
David Spoon:Because it is at this moment, right here in Genesis 12:1 and 2, that the faith is being required, requested.
David Spoon:God is saying, okay, you're going to leave your familiar surroundings of the country.
David Spoon:You're going to also leave your relatives, which is like your first level of safety net.
David Spoon:And you're going to leave your father's house, which is the last level of safety net.
David Spoon:And you're going to go somewhere you've never been before.
David Spoon:And if we're not willing to step out in faith like Abraham did, then we won't see this new land that God has.
David Spoon:And God calls Abraham to leave everything he knew and follow him.
David Spoon:You know, it's not the rich young ruler, it's deeper if you think about it, because he's got to leave.
David Spoon:Not just his financial, not just that, it's just everything he knew of comfort.
David Spoon:God's going, no, we're going to go over here.
David Spoon:And what God says to him and what I don't want to miss and what I don't want to fail in teaching you is this.
David Spoon:It's even more mind blowing than the universe.
David Spoon:He tells him to leave the land and he's going to show them where to go.
David Spoon:This means that Abraham did not know where he was going.
David Spoon:I've got to stress that it means Abraham had never seen where he was going.
David Spoon:It wasn't like he had a vision of the place in the same context that we think he was going somewhere, that he didn't know where it was.
David Spoon:He only knew this, that God was the one leading him.
David Spoon:He didn't have anything else, no idea where the journey, where he was going, where he was going to be led to.
David Spoon:He didn't know where he was going to, but he know who he knew him, who was leading him.
David Spoon:So he said, yes, now that is faith.
David Spoon:Leave your country, leave your relatives.
David Spoon:Remember, especially back then, the relatives wasn't like it is today.
David Spoon:It wasn't the nuclear family, right?
David Spoon:And it's like, and leave your father's house, this place that you found the most comfort.
David Spoon:Leave it all.
David Spoon:I'm going to show you somewhere to go and you've never been there.
David Spoon:Follow me.
David Spoon:So in response to God, Abraham says, yes, and this is so Similar to you and I needing to say yes when the Lord is trying to lead us on a journey to places unknown.
David Spoon:Like, we don't even know where it's going to go.
David Spoon:You know, we had a little bit of that.
David Spoon:Not to the level that Abraham did, but we had a little bit of that when we came out to Texas.
David Spoon:We had no idea.
David Spoon:I'm writing in my.
David Spoon:In my school thing, leaving this, leaving this, leaving this, no job, a little bit of money.
David Spoon:Da, da, da, da, da.
David Spoon:No problem.
David Spoon:Because we know Jesus.
David Spoon:It's like there has to be this part of us that is just willing to take this radical and just crazy step of faith and say yes.
David Spoon:And people are like, well, no, societally it would be like this.
David Spoon:And societally, it should be like this.
David Spoon:Abraham was told to leave the society to journey with God.
David Spoon:Now the question that's going to drop on you and I, Are we willing to do what the Lord wants to do, wants us to do, and go where he wants us to go, even if we're not familiar?
David Spoon:Are we willing to say, yes?
David Spoon:Yes, he's our Savior, but is Jesus our Lord?
David Spoon:That now we're getting.
David Spoon:Ooh, that's.
David Spoon:Wow, Dave.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:Because that's the genuineness of our faith.
David Spoon:That's why when you get into this chapter 12, it's.
David Spoon:It's almost like this whole different vibe takes place in the book of Genesis.
David Spoon:You see what God is doing?
David Spoon:He's pulling Abraham out somewhere where he's never been to a place he's never been to.
David Spoon:And wait till we get to this next part.
David Spoon:It's even more amazing, which is hard to believe that it can be more amazing.
David Spoon:But this is what God requires of you and I to journey by faith.
David Spoon:You could not hear one single thing I said this entire show, except for this.
David Spoon:Leave your.
David Spoon:Leave your country, leave your relatives, leave your father's house.
David Spoon:I'm going to show you a place you've never been.
David Spoon:I want you to go there.
David Spoon:Yes, Lord.
David Spoon:That's the response that God wants from us.
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:Because that's faith.
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:Because faith pleases God.
David Spoon:And he knows.
David Spoon:He knows what he was doing when he chose you.
David Spoon:He knows and he knows.
David Spoon:Sometimes it's harder to make that journey to the.
David Spoon:God's not like on there going, oh, he knows, but he still wants us to trust him to take that step forward.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:Now listen to this.
David Spoon:Incredible.
David Spoon:You think that was.
David Spoon:Wait, this is not.
David Spoon:Then in the next verse, listen to what he says.
David Spoon:So he says, then the Lord said to Abraham, leave your country.
David Spoon:Your relatives and your father's house and go to the land that I will show you.
David Spoon:I will cause you to become the father of a great nation.
David Spoon:I will bless you and make you famous.
David Spoon:And I will make you a blessing to others.
David Spoon:And I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.
David Spoon:And all the families of the earth will be blessed through you.
David Spoon:Now, what I want you to pick up on right away is God tells him this wild thing.
David Spoon:I'm going to cause you to become the father of a great nation.
David Spoon:And I will bless you and make you famous.
David Spoon:First of all, when God makes somebody famous, it's famous forever.
David Spoon:When the world makes somebody famous, it's famous until the next news cycle is over.
David Spoon:But when God does it, it's eternal.
David Spoon:But that's not the thing I want you to catch.
David Spoon:God tells Abraham, you got to remember verse 30 of Genesis 11, she couldn't have any children.
David Spoon:And God comes down and goes, I'm going to make you the father of many, many, many, many people.
David Spoon:Now you have to recognize Abraham is already processing.
David Spoon:He can't have kids with Sarah.
David Spoon:God is telling him the impossible is going to happen because I'm leading you into this place and you don't know how it's going to go about, but I'm going to do it.
David Spoon:And it's sure as can be.
David Spoon:And the miracle will come about.
David Spoon:And you are not only going to be the father of many nations, but I am going to make you famous.
David Spoon:And you will be a blessing to others.
David Spoon:Do you want to be a blessing to others?
David Spoon:Step in faith with the Lord and he will show people.
David Spoon:He will show people his power through your life.
David Spoon:And you will be a blessing to others.
David Spoon:You will be powerful to others.
David Spoon:You will be an example.
David Spoon:God's saying, okay, I'm going to cause you to become the father of a great nation.
David Spoon:Well, that's impossible.
David Spoon:My wife can't have kids.
David Spoon:And I'm not only going to do that, I'm going to cause you to be famous.
David Spoon:I'm going to bless you.
David Spoon:I'm going to make you famous in all the world.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:Nobody knows me.
David Spoon:I'm going to a place nobody knows of me.
David Spoon:How could I possibly ever become famous?
David Spoon:That too would be a miracle.
David Spoon:And then I'm going to make you a blessing to others.
David Spoon:And he doesn't even know how that's going to happen because he doesn't know any others.
David Spoon:And then God says, I'm going to bless those that bless you and curse those that curse you.
