Welcome back to Spiritual Sanctuary: Wisdom for the Divine Feminine. I’m Bertena, and today I want to talk about something that has been on my heart: why women need to gather in circles, why retreats are so powerful, and why even virtual retreats can be just as meaningful and sacred as meeting in person.

I know that sometimes when we think of retreats, we picture everyone traveling to a beautiful place, sitting together in the same room, lighting candles, sharing stories, and feeling that energy of being together. And yes, that is beautiful. There is something very powerful about being physically present with other women in a sacred space.

But I also want to say this: sacred connection is not limited by distance. Healing is not limited by a building. The Divine Feminine is not limited by whether we are sitting beside each other or meeting through a screen.

I truly believe that when women gather with intention, even virtually, something sacred can happen.

For generations, women have gathered together. We have gathered around fires, kitchen tables, wells, gardens, temples, birth beds, moonlight, and altars. We gathered to share wisdom, to tell stories, to grieve, to celebrate, to heal, to pray, and to support one another.

And I think there is a part of us that remembers that. There is a part of the feminine soul that knows we were never meant to carry everything alone.

But in today’s world, so many women are carrying so much. We are taking care of families, homes, jobs, relationships, parents, children, students, clients, coworkers, and communities. We are often the ones remembering what everyone needs. We are often the ones holding the emotional weight. We are often the ones showing up, even when we are tired.

And sometimes we do not even realize how disconnected we have become from ourselves until we finally stop.

Maybe you have had that moment where everything looks fine on the outside, but inside you feel exhausted. Or you feel like you have been giving and giving, but you have not had a space to receive. Maybe you feel a longing for something deeper, but you are not even sure what it is. You just know that your soul is asking for quiet. Your body is asking for rest. Your heart is asking to be seen.

That is why women’s circles matter.

A women’s circle is not just a meeting. It is not just a class. It is not just a group of people sitting together. A true sacred circle is a container. It is a space where women can come as they are.

Not the perfect version.

Not the polished version.

Not the version that has all the answers.

But the real woman.

The woman who is tired.

The woman who is awakening.

The woman who is healing.

The woman who is questioning.

The woman who is ready to remember who she is.

In a circle, you do not have to pretend. You can speak if you feel called to speak, or you can simply listen. Sometimes just hearing another woman share her story is enough to open something inside of you. You hear her say something that you have felt, and suddenly you think, “Oh, I am not the only one.”

That moment is powerful.

Because so much of women’s pain is carried quietly. We think we are the only one who feels overwhelmed. We think we are the only one who is spiritually awakening but unsure where to go next. We think we are the only one who feels sensitive, intuitive, emotional, or tired of holding everything together.

Then we step into a circle and realize we are not alone.

That is healing all by itself.

There is something deeply sacred about being witnessed without judgment. There is something healing about being in a space where you do not have to explain away your emotions or apologize for your tears. There is something powerful about being reminded that your intuition matters, your story matters, your body matters, your rest matters, and your healing matters.

That is what sacred sisterhood can offer us.

In a world that often teaches women to compare themselves, compete with one another, stay busy, stay quiet, and push through exhaustion, a sacred circle gives us another way. It says, “You can soften here. You can breathe here. You can be honest here. You can be supported here.”

And retreats take that even deeper.

A retreat is a sacred pause. It is a moment when we step outside of our normal routine and say, “I need time to listen to myself. I need time to listen to my soul.”

A retreat is not about running away from life. It is about returning to life with more clarity, more peace, and more connection to who you really are.

When we retreat, we give ourselves permission to stop. We step away from the constant noise, the lists, the responsibilities, the phone, the schedules, and the pressure to always keep going. We make space for the body to speak. We make space for the heart to release. We make space for the soul to whisper what it has been trying to tell us.

And sometimes what comes up is gentle. Sometimes it is emotional. Sometimes it is surprising. Sometimes the most powerful moment of a retreat is not dramatic at all. It might simply be the first deep breath you have taken in months. It might be realizing, “I am tired, and I need support.” It might be crying and not apologizing. It might be laughing with other women after carrying heaviness for too long. It might be remembering that your intuition has been speaking to you all along.

That is why retreats are so important. They create a doorway. They create a moment in time where you choose yourself, your healing, your spirit, and your return.

And for women especially, retreats can be deeply healing because so many of us spend our lives doing. We are always doing something for someone. We are always planning, helping, fixing, managing, teaching, caring, working, or giving.

But we are not here only to do.

We are also here to be.

We are spiritual beings. We are intuitive beings. We are emotional beings. We are creative beings. We are sacred beings. We are cyclical beings.

And when we forget that, we can start to feel disconnected from ourselves. We can feel resentful, tired, numb, or like something important is missing.

A retreat helps us come back. Back to the body. Back to the breath. Back to the heart. Back to intuition. Back to the Divine Feminine. Back to the sacred truth of who we are underneath all of the roles we carry.

Now, I really want to talk about virtual retreats, because I think this is so important.

Sometimes people think that if something is virtual, it is somehow less powerful. They may think, “Well, it is not the same as being there in person.” And no, it is not exactly the same. But different does not mean less sacred.

Virtual retreats can be beautiful. Virtual circles can be powerful. Virtual sisterhood can be real.

And for many women, virtual spaces are not just convenient. They are necessary.

Because let’s be honest. Life is full. Travel can be expensive. Gas costs money. Hotels cost money. Food costs money. Taking time off work can be hard. Arranging childcare can be hard. Driving a long distance can be exhausting.

And not every woman can easily leave home for a retreat.

Some women are caregivers. Some women have health concerns. Some women have chronic pain, mobility challenges, anxiety, trauma, or nervous system sensitivities that make in-person events overwhelming. Some women live far away from spiritual communities. Some women do not have access to local circles that feel safe, welcoming, or aligned with their spiritual path.

And some women are simply tired.

They may want connection, but the thought of packing a bag, driving for hours, finding parking, walking into a new place, and then opening themselves emotionally and spiritually may feel like too much.

That is why virtual sacred spaces are such a gift.

A virtual retreat allows a woman to enter the circle from where she is. She can light a candle in her own home. She can sit at her own altar. She can wrap herself in her favorite blanket. She can drink tea from her favorite mug. She can join from her bed, her couch, her chair, her yoga mat, or her sacred corner.

She can turn her camera on or off depending on what feels safe. She can participate in a way that honors her body, her energy, her budget, and her life.

And that matters.

That is not just convenience. That is sacred accessibility.

I believe the Divine Feminine meets us where we are. She does not say, “You must drive five hours to be worthy of healing.” She does not say, “You must have the perfect schedule, the perfect outfit, the perfect body, or the perfect energy before you can enter the circle.”

She says, “Come as you are. Light the candle where you are. Open your heart where you are. Begin where you are.”

That is one of the most beautiful things about virtual retreats. They allow us to bring sacred practice into the places where our lives actually happen.

Our homes are where we wake up. They are where we rest, cry, eat, care for others, carry stress, dream, and move through our daily routines. So when we create sacred space at home, we are not just leaving our life for healing. We are inviting healing into our life.

That is powerful.

A virtual retreat can help a woman learn how to make her own home feel sacred. She begins to understand that sanctuary is not only somewhere far away. It is not only in a retreat center, a temple, or a special building. Sanctuary can be created in her living room, her bedroom, her kitchen, her porch, or wherever she chooses to pause with intention.

She can learn to use candlelight, journaling, meditation, oracle cards, gentle movement, prayer, ritual, and rest as part of her real life.

And then, when the retreat is over, the practice stays with her. The altar is still there. The candle is still there. The journal is still there. The memory of the circle is still there. The nervous system remembers what it felt like to soften. The soul remembers what it felt like to be held.

And she knows, “I can return to myself right here.”

That is the power of virtual sacred space.

And I also want to remind you that energy is not limited by distance. Anyone who has experienced distant Reiki, online meditation, virtual prayer, or intuitive work knows that energy can move beyond location.

We can hold space for one another from different homes, different cities, and different states. We can light candles at the same time. We can breathe together. We can meditate together. We can pray together. We can share our stories and feel the sacred field that forms between us.

That is part of the mystery. That is part of the magic.

This is the priestess path in the modern world.

The ancient women gathered around fires, wells, temples, kitchens, and moonlit spaces. Modern women may gather through Zoom rooms, online classrooms, virtual retreats, and digital circles. The form may change, but the need is still the same.

Women still need places to be witnessed.

We still need places to rest.

We still need places to tell the truth.

We still need places to reconnect with our bodies and our spirits.

We still need places to remember that we are sacred.

And this is why I believe virtual retreats are not a lesser version of gathering. They are a modern expression of sacred sisterhood. They are one of the ways the Divine Feminine is rising in this time, because sacred community has to be flexible. It has to be accessible. It has to honor real women with real lives.

It has to honor the woman who is tired.

The woman who is busy.

The woman who is healing.

The woman who is caregiving.

The woman who is financially mindful.

The woman who is far away.

The woman who wants to gather, but needs gathering to meet her gently.

That is also why I love hybrid retreats. A hybrid retreat honors both needs. It honors the beauty of gathering in person, and it also honors the accessibility of gathering virtually. It gives each woman a choice. Some women may come in person. Some may join from home. Some may want a little of both.

And all of those choices are valid.

There is no one right way to enter sacred space. The right way is the way that allows you to show up honestly, safely, and fully.

So if you have been longing for sisterhood, spiritual connection, rest, retreat, or a sacred pause, I want you to know this: you deserve that space.

You deserve rest. You deserve support. You deserve to be witnessed. You deserve to reconnect with your intuition. You deserve to explore the Divine Feminine. You deserve to release what no longer belongs to you. You deserve to remember yourself.

And you do not have to wait until life is perfect.

You do not have to wait until you have more time, more money, more confidence, or more energy. Sometimes the circle is where readiness begins. Sometimes the retreat is where your nervous system finally exhales. Sometimes the sacred space is where your soul whispers, “Welcome back. I have been waiting for you.”

That is why women need circles. That is why women need retreats. That is why we need sacred sisterhood and spiritual community.

Not because we are weak, but because we are wise enough to know that we were never meant to walk this path alone.

And if this message is speaking to your heart, I want to invite you into a sacred experience I have created called **Sacred Return: A Divine Feminine Hybrid Retreat**.

This retreat is a sacred emotional homecoming for women. It is a weekend of rest, release, remembrance, and reclamation.

It will take place July 17 and 18 virtually on Zoom, and July 19 both on Zoom and in person at The Healing Society of Nashville.

This retreat is for women who are ready to slow down, reconnect with the body, awaken intuition, explore goddess archetypes, experience sacred sisterhood, release emotional heaviness, and return to the woman underneath the exhaustion, expectations, roles, and responsibilities.

During the retreat, we will explore practices such as somatic yoga, sacred ritual, goddess archetypes, Divine Feminine healing, shadow work, divination, meditation, journaling, sacred sisterhood, and deep rest.

And because this is a hybrid retreat, you can join in the way that feels most supportive to you. You can attend virtually from the comfort of your own home. You can create your own sacred space, light your candle, bring your tea, sit at your altar, wrap yourself in a blanket, and join the circle from wherever you are.

The retreat will also be recorded, so if you cannot attend every session live, you will have replay access. Handouts and resources will be provided for each event, so you can continue the work, reflect more deeply, and return to the practices again and again.

Until we meet again, may you trust your intuition, honor your sacred wisdom, and remember that you do not have to walk this path alone.
