Treading Faith discusses the miracle of the the birth of Jesus by revisiting the encounters Mary and Joseph had with angels. (Luke 1:26-45; Matthew 1:18-25). Often we lose sight of what Christmas is about because we get caught up in the mad dash of gifting. Christmas has become more about presents under the tree rather than the present and presence of Jesus. Jesus is a miracle and his birth is a gift to us. As we discussed the encounters Mary and Joseph had with angels to prepare them for the birth of Jesus, we were reminded that family is also important in this season. It may be the family you are born into or the family you choose, but it is important to remember to spend time with family this season to be reminded of the power of love and support. Mary and Joseph were encouraged to stay together and to not be afraid of the road ahead. We too should stay close together with our loved ones and be encouraged and be an encouragement that we are better and stronger together. God ordained the family you have, whether born into or adopted. Your family is an important part of your destiny and purpose.
