In this spiritually reviving episode, we learn from the Word of God that we must trust God’s divine plan and providence. We also learn from studying God’s Word that obedience is the true test of trust and faith. We must fully obey God!

All the commandments of the Lord demand obedience. Our love for the Lord is measured by our obedience. Loving God is obeying God. Obeying God is loving God.

Every test in our lives requires unwavering faith. Abraham’s faith was unwavering and founded on the goodness and the character of God. The Bible says Abraham did not stagger at the promise of God through unbelief but was strong in the faith giving glory to God. We, too, must decide we will not stagger at the promise of God, but remain strong in the faith.

When it is all said and done, Abraham uses this test as an opportunity to worship. We see the term worship for the first time in scripture. It is the “law of first mentioned.” Abraham had a reverential fear of God. He was willing to sacrifice his beloved son. His obedience, trust, and faith touched the heart of God. That is true worship. True worship is when we choose God over what we value most in our hearts.

We end this two-part Bible lesson with practical applications to follow for successfully passing every test in life.
