And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
Jesus. Matthew 5:41. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 26 of 30 Days on the Mount of Blessing. Jesus continues to build this paradigm of always acting in the best interest of others. Not merely fulfilling one’s obligation—but cheerfully going beyond. Why? Because we’re part of a different kind of kingdom. A kingdom where kindness and grace are the essence—not self-protection and self-interest. This means, instead of just doing what the boss expects—go above and beyond. This isn’t schmoozing or kissing up, this is simply doing the good for others that you have power to do. Chances are, if your boss feels the need to abuse power to compel you to do something, they’re probably pretty miserable themselves. The grace you show them by going above and beyond will throw a little bit of light their way—even if it still seems like they drink lemon juice for breakfast!
