Shownotes
Founding members of the fantastic new wave band Martha And The Muffins (Martha Johnson and Mark Gane) talk with Paul Romanuk about The Beatles ground breaking 1966 album Revolver. This is the first of two episodes with M+M. In this episode we talk Side One, the next episode will cover Side Two.
Lots of talk (of course!) about The Beatles and the different world they'd entered in terms of recording methods and songwriting around this time. But, also lots of talk about Martha And The Muffins and their work - the global hit single Echo Beach, their great album This Is The Ice Age, working with producer Daniel Lanois, Martha's crush on Paul McCartney - it's all there!
You can find out more about what Martha and Mark are up to if you visit their website: marthaandthemuffins.com
They also have a Facebook page and a YouTube page.
Here is a link to a review of, for me, their best album, This Is The Ice Age. Mark plays a great guitar solo in a song called Women Around The World At Work on that album. Here's a link to the track. Here is an acoustic version they posted of the same song for International Women's Day in 2019.
