Today, I have an excerpt from a free webinar with Karen Ashforth that was provided by Lipedema Simplified during Lipedema Awareness month in June 2021. Karen is an occupational therapist with more than 20 years of experience in treating lymphedema and lipedema. In this excerpt, Karen talks about fibrosis, or the hardening and thickening of tissue, that can be experienced in all stages of lipedema. She draws the link between inflammation and the formation of fibrosis and how diet may be instrumental in preventing the onset or progression of fibrosis.
