In this episode, Grant McHerron and Ewen Levick talk with Millie Keating, Industrial Development Unit Manager at Hanwha Defense Australia, about the Australian Industry Capability associated with the Huntsman and Redback projects.
We start the episode with a quick review of Millie's career to date and her work at Hanwha, which moves into an overview of Hanwha's approach to AIC, their strategy for engaging with suppliers and supplying to Korea and other countries, not just Australia. Millie then provides information about some of the companies in Australia already engaged with Hanwha and their involvement within the supply chain.
The discussion provides more information about the current status of Hanwha's AIC program, some of the activities in progress to secure additional opportunities and the assistance Hanwha is providing Australian organisations to help them prepare for working with Defence. This leads to a review of future opportunities for suppliers in Hanwha's Defence projects and the many projects Hanwha is engaged in outside of Defence.
We wrap the episode with a look at the benefits to Hanwha from being involved with Australian industry, how their strategy for expansion within Australia was developed and the importance of developing the Defence industry, including education, training and marketing the benefits of careers in the industry.
