Speaker:

What's going on, everybody.

2

:

Welcome to the elemental.

3

:

I've been podcasts.

4

:

This is your host, Evan Roberts.

5

:

On the show, I break down

health topics from a simplified

6

:

and holistic perspective.

7

:

So that way I can provide you with

accessible health knowledge that

8

:

you can apply to your life right

after listening to these episodes.

9

:

That's literally the goal of this.

10

:

If this show is too.

11

:

I just provide you with free

information so that you can use it

12

:

and take control of your health today.

13

:

We're going to be talking all about

women's health and toxicity levels and

14

:

products that differ between men and

women, and pretty much just why it can

15

:

be a little bit or a lot more difficult

to, um, maintain one's health as a woman.

16

:

So.

17

:

First off, I mean, maintaining

anyone's health in today's

18

:

world can be difficult because.

19

:

Many many reasons, but we have tons

of easy access to all kinds of ultra

20

:

processed foods, which are made to

literally hijack your taste buds

21

:

and make you crave more of them.

22

:

Um, you know, as well, we have

contaminated waters and air

23

:

pollution and contaminated soil,

all these different things.

24

:

So we're, we're facing a lot

of toxic loads on all different

25

:

fronts, so it can be difficult to

really take care of our health.

26

:

Right.

27

:

We have to really put conscious effort

into it and make sure that we're

28

:

trying to do our best that we possibly

can with the tools that we have.

29

:

But when it comes to men and women's

health, What are the main reasons why

30

:

toxic loads might be higher for women?

31

:

And once again, this is just kind of my

opinion, as well as some of the research

32

:

I've been looking up online tends to also

back me up in terms of, you know, tox

33

:

toxicity levels being higher in women.

34

:

But I think there really isn't a

smoking gun that we can point at

35

:

and say, That's the reason that's

why, you know, women's health is.

36

:

You know, kind of on the decline

or, um, you know, doing worse than

37

:

men's or whatever it might be.

38

:

I think it's really coming down to all of

the little steps throughout the day that

39

:

we take that really make up the whole.

40

:

That is honestly the reason why

toxicity levels might be hiring women.

41

:

And some of these things can be things

like makeup, for example, makeup.

42

:

I mean, obviously.

43

:

Underneath the list of makeup or the

title of makeup, you would have a

44

:

list of a bunch of different things.

45

:

Mascara foundation,

eyeliner lipstick, right?

46

:

Like there's so many different

things just under makeup.

47

:

But then on top of that, you've

got things like makeup remover.

48

:

You've got you.

49

:

Uh, fake nails.

50

:

You've got nail Polish, you've

got nail Polish remover.

51

:

You've got hair dye.

52

:

You've got fake eyelashes.

53

:

And the glue that you put

the fake eyelashes on.

54

:

You've got, um, you know, tampons pads,

you've got birth control and then as

55

:

well, a bunch of skincare products,

perfume, uh, shaving cream deodorant.

56

:

Those last couple ones obviously

are shared between men and women,

57

:

but still nonetheless there's.

58

:

A plethora of things that, uh,

specifically women are putting

59

:

on their body every single day.

60

:

And for those of you

who are unaware of this.

61

:

Your skin is the largest Oregon.

62

:

On your body or in your,

in slash on your body.

63

:

And it is not a closed system.

64

:

What you put on your skin

does not just wash off.

65

:

It actually does get

absorbed into your body.

66

:

And, um, yeah, actually

very, quite easily.

67

:

So.

68

:

On that note.

69

:

When we take a look at the

environmental working group.

70

:

Um, EWG, they've done a survey.

71

:

And in the survey.

72

:

They found that the average adult uses

nine personal care products each day

73

:

with 126 unique chemical ingredients.

74

:

Now to break that down

a little bit further.

75

:

The average woman uses 12

products containing 168 unique

76

:

ingredients every day with men.

77

:

On the other hand, using

six products daily with 85

78

:

unique ingredients on average.

79

:

So right there, it's already about

half of the amount of products that

80

:

menus, uh, when compared to women.

81

:

And on that note.

82

:

Since 2009, 595 cosmetics manufacturers

have reported using 88 chemicals

83

:

in more than 73,000 products.

84

:

That had been linked to cancer,

birth defects or reproductive harm.

85

:

So it's really just a.

86

:

How do I say this?

87

:

It's really just like a, uh, not a, not a

perfect storm, but it is a perfect storm

88

:

of, you know, Our skin being so absorbent.

89

:

And then also these companies not always

having our best health in mind, right?

90

:

Not always using the best

ingredients for our health.

91

:

Um, and then our skin absorbing a lot of

those ingredients, which can have some

92

:

serious harm on our bodies and as well.

93

:

Um, children.

94

:

Right?

95

:

So it's very important for us to try to

be aware of what it is that we're putting

96

:

on our skin and don't get me wrong.

97

:

I realized that a lot of these.

98

:

You know, clean and high quality skincare

and makeup brands are really expensive.

99

:

And, you know, in this

economy, It's not easy.

100

:

Like everything is expensive.

101

:

It feels like these days you

go to the store and walking out

102

:

with a grocery bill at a hundred

dollars, can almost feel like.

103

:

That was a pretty good job for

shopping for the week or something,

104

:

you know, it's, it's wild, how

expensive things have gotten.

105

:

So I understand when people go to

the store, Um, and they see a skin

106

:

cream for $8 and then one for $35.

107

:

It makes sense.

108

:

Like the person who only has $200 to

spend for groceries that entire week is

109

:

probably going to go for that $8 brand.

110

:

So I totally get it.

111

:

And I think really it's important to

just be aware of this and also aware.

112

:

Uh, that, you know, Maybe purchasing a

brand that's just a little bit better

113

:

or, um, you know, trying out one of

those expensive brands and trying to

114

:

just make it last a little bit, maybe,

you know, alternating between the two.

115

:

Um, anything that you do is going to

be better than just staying on the path

116

:

of using these really like bad quality.

117

:

Uh, skin skincare, makeup brand,

like whatever it might be.

118

:

Um, You know, really trying

to just step it up a little

119

:

bit is going to be of benefit.

120

:

And there is a really cool tool that

I think everyone should know about.

121

:

I'm going to post it.

122

:

Uh, the link in my, in the description

of this episode, so that you can go ahead

123

:

and check it out at, at your leisure.

124

:

But the.

125

:

The group that had, that I had mentioned

earlier, the environmental working group,

126

:

or E w G if you go to their website,

which once again, in the description,

127

:

Uh, then you will find on there, there's

a bunch of different links to see, like,

128

:

you know, what's the best a water filter

brand and, and, um, you know, oh, the

129

:

dirty dozens lists, like what are the F.

130

:

The produce items that tend to

be sprayed with the most, um,

131

:

Uh, pesticides and stuff, right.

132

:

To the ones that avoid.

133

:

Well, they also have a link to the EWG

skin deep, which essentially they will

134

:

show you brands for different makeups.

135

:

You know, like blush and foundation

and all those different things.

136

:

And then as well for skincare.

137

:

And.

138

:

It will have their ranking in terms of,

Hey, this is a brand that ranked number

139

:

one on our, uh, EWG verified clean list.

140

:

So you can know that this is

a super, super clean brand.

141

:

And then it goes all the way down

to number 10, which is the worst.

142

:

So you can go on here and check out and

find a brand that maybe fits your budget.

143

:

And maybe it's not a number one, but

maybe it's a number two or a number three.

144

:

And at least it's pretty decent.

145

:

You know, it's a lot better

than, than buying something.

146

:

That's a number eight, nine or 10.

147

:

So I think this is an

awesome tool to use as well.

148

:

Um, there's brands that,

well, I don't wear makeup, so.

149

:

Obviously wouldn't really know these

brands, but, um, there's a few on here.

150

:

Like I'm on the page right now.

151

:

Rejuven minerals is one

Maya's mineral galaxy.

152

:

That's M a I a and both of those

are, I believe rated number one

153

:

in terms of the EWG verification.

154

:

So they're super clean.

155

:

Um, but yeah, it's a great list.

156

:

I highly recommend that you

check it out and try to find

157

:

something that works for you.

158

:

For me being a guy.

159

:

I mean, I realized that.

160

:

I have a little bit more freedom in terms

of my spending power, because I only

161

:

buy a couple of, you know, skincare.

162

:

Um, products every so often.

163

:

And even with that all typically

use it like every other day.

164

:

I'm I'm never really putting

things on every single day.

165

:

Um, for me personally, I love Allie Torah.

166

:

That's just, that's my go-to.

167

:

It's the cleanest skincare brand

that I have personally found.

168

:

Um, OSEA is also really, really good.

169

:

Don't get me wrong.

170

:

They're both not cheap, but

they're very good quality.

171

:

Uh, with Allie Torah, for example, I've

seen the founder put some of, um, I

172

:

think it was the gold serum or something

onto his hand or the face moisturizer.

173

:

And he literally just licked it off.

174

:

Like that's how clean it is.

175

:

He can consume it like

internally, which makes sense.

176

:

If you're going to put it on your

body, it's still going to be absorbed.

177

:

So.

178

:

You wouldn't really want to put something

that you couldn't ingest, I guess.

179

:

Uh, but nonetheless.

180

:

From them, their night

cream is incredible.

181

:

It's super thick.

182

:

And when you put it on a, before you

go to bed, a lot of the times I'll wake

183

:

up and there's still a layer of it.

184

:

And I did not put a thick layer on it's.

185

:

It's very well rubbed in, and

it is awesome for the face.

186

:

It does a really, really good job.

187

:

So I tend to try to find the products that

have like the biggest return on investment

188

:

for me and are as clean as possible.

189

:

And those are the ones that I'll go with.

190

:

But, like I said, I'm not

using them all the time.

191

:

I can.

192

:

You.

193

:

You know, kind of splurge

on them every now and again.

194

:

Um, But personally, that

is like my go-to brand.

195

:

Alitura naturals is.

196

:

Yeah, I freaking absolutely love them.

197

:

And he's awesome.

198

:

He's been on the show.

199

:

Uh, he's the founder of, of the company.

200

:

So you can check that out.

201

:

And as well as a listener of the show, you

do get a discount for being a listener.

202

:

So check out the description, the

link and the code are all in there.

203

:

Um, but yeah, these

are really great tools.

204

:

You know, if I come across good brands, of

course I'll always recommend them on here.

205

:

Um, but this EWG skin deep tool

that you can use, I think is just.

206

:

Really, really cool that they've

designed this and I highly

207

:

recommend everyone check it out.

208

:

Um, and then the last thing I really

wanted to mention on here was, um, I'm

209

:

not sure if you have heard about the.

210

:

Study that had came out.

211

:

Um, I don't, it wasn't that long ago.

212

:

And I forgot who it was

that actually did the study.

213

:

Um, but it was essentially

talking about how.

214

:

There's heavy metals

being found in tampons.

215

:

And, uh, actually like in a hundred

percent of the tampons that were actually

216

:

tested, they found heavy metals and they

were testing for 16 different metals and

217

:

they found 12 of the 16 metals that they

were testing for which some of these

218

:

metals were toxic metals such as lead.

219

:

So really, really like not

super great stuff to hear.

220

:

Um, they do mention however, That

they want to urge people not to

221

:

panic because they do not know yet.

222

:

If the metals can come out of the

tampons and be absorbed by the

223

:

body and have an impact on your

health and all that good stuff.

224

:

So, I mean, I get it like more

research needs to be done.

225

:

But at the same time, Reason for

concern, in my opinion, right?

226

:

That really sucks to hear that.

227

:

Um, and you know, It's like,

what's the alternative here?

228

:

Right?

229

:

I mean, like, of course we have, you

know, pads and the cups and, um, you

230

:

know, there, there are alternatives, but

I realized like tampons are a very easy.

231

:

Thing to use, right?

232

:

Like it's it, it's a.

233

:

Yeah, it's an easy way for, for when

you're on your time of the month.

234

:

And a lot of people prefer

them, so I totally get it.

235

:

But.

236

:

Yeah.

237

:

I don't know what the answer is.

238

:

Moving forward to this.

239

:

Um, I mean, just like, and I am obviously

a guy here, I have zero experience in

240

:

this and I'm not a medical professional,

but I mean, I would just imagine

241

:

that probably moving to something

like a pad would be slightly better

242

:

for your health, or hopefully not

absorbing some of these toxic metals

243

:

in through literally the vaginal.

244

:

Uh, canal and, and, um,

leaching into the body.

245

:

But.

246

:

All of these things are just to say

that women face higher toxicity levels

247

:

and their health is kind of just

getting more of a beating, I would

248

:

say, just because there's so many more

things that they're putting on their

249

:

body and using day in and day out.

250

:

So.

251

:

Really.

252

:

I don't have the answer here.

253

:

I realized that, you know, Of course, like

still where your makeup's still, you know,

254

:

do the things that you got to do to live

your life and feel good about yourself.

255

:

Right?

256

:

Like that's what we want.

257

:

We want to feel good about ourselves

in everything that we're doing.

258

:

But in terms of, you know,

promoting longevity and health

259

:

here, I would just highly recommend

that becoming aware of this.

260

:

Hopefully this is just the

catalyst kind of the spark here.

261

:

Um, I'm providing you with some

information for you to kind of

262

:

go down that rabbit hole for

yourself and see what the best

263

:

answer is for your personal health.

264

:

Everyone is different

specific in their own health.

265

:

So.

266

:

Um, you know, do what works best for you.

267

:

Do what fits in your budget as well.

268

:

But hopefully this information

is a little bit of an eye-opener.

269

:

And also, um, a reason to start maybe

making some changes, whether it is with

270

:

your, uh, the food that you're ingesting,

or maybe the products that you're putting

271

:

on your skin, the amount of products

that you're putting on your skin.

272

:

Um, and also just becoming

aware of these things such as

273

:

heavy metals in tampons, right?

274

:

Like who knew that that was going

to be a thing, even in an OU.

275

:

I'm sorry.

276

:

Don't fact check me on this one.

277

:

Um, I had heard that this was including

organic cotton tampons as well.

278

:

I'll need to double check that I highly

recommend you double check as well.

279

:

Don't take my word on that one.

280

:

Uh, but nonetheless, that really sucks.

281

:

Um, Yeah.

282

:

And it's just a bummer to hear that.

283

:

One thing I will say, if you

are, um, just looking to.

284

:

You know, you like, you don't

know where to start in terms of

285

:

shopping for cleaner products.

286

:

I know whole foods is not perfect.

287

:

They have a lot of places that they can

improve on, but I will say one thing

288

:

about whole foods that I do respect is

they actually have a list of ingredients

289

:

that if you want to get your product

into their store, You cannot contain.

290

:

Those ingredients on that list.

291

:

Um, I mean, even firsthand I've seen

this happen where people's products get

292

:

rejected from getting into whole foods

because they have an ingredient that is on

293

:

the, uh, the banned list from whole foods.

294

:

So.

295

:

Once again, whole foods is not perfect.

296

:

I'm not saying everything on their shelf

is a hundred percent great for you.

297

:

Um, but at least there is a.

298

:

You know, Uh, a loop

to jump through, right.

299

:

For companies in terms of, uh, you

know, not being able to just throw

300

:

whatever they want into a product

and put it on someone's shelf.

301

:

So that's always a great way to start.

302

:

If you're like, Hey, I have

zero knowledge on this stuff.

303

:

I don't even know where to start.

304

:

If you've got a whole foods close to you.

305

:

Go check it out.

306

:

See if there's something that fits

your budget, at least, you know, that

307

:

they're screening for some stuff.

308

:

Um, and then beyond that, I would

say, just do your own research

309

:

and then as well, check out the

environmental working group.

310

:

Link that I'm going to have

in the description here.

311

:

Uh, the show notes of this show.

312

:

And yeah, I think that's

a great place to start.

313

:

So.

314

:

Anyways.

315

:

Is going to do it for today's episode.

316

:

I'm not here to like

scare anybody as well.

317

:

Um, I think.

318

:

You know, it was just an interesting

topic that, uh, my wife and I were

319

:

actually discussing, and it was

like, Kind of eye-opening for myself.

320

:

Like yeah, no, duh, that, you know,

this would make sense that we mood

321

:

would be kind of facing a harder times

in terms of maintaining their health.

322

:

And, um, you know, I think that's

also why we're seeing a lot of things

323

:

like hormonal imbalances and a lot

of, um, gastrointestinal issues,

324

:

which obviously is not just for women.

325

:

Like, um, I deal with that myself

as well, and, and I've healed

326

:

myself massively, but, um, you

know, we see things like that.

327

:

We see fertility issues.

328

:

Like there's so many different things.

329

:

Uh, you know, breast cancer,

like one in every eight women

330

:

are getting breast cancer.

331

:

Like that's a terrible statistic, right?

332

:

And I think, um, not all of it, but

I do think that some of it could be

333

:

stemming from some of the products that

we're using, uh, day in and day out.

334

:

And of course, the way that

we're living our lives, right?

335

:

Like how much exercise are we getting?

336

:

How much sleep are we getting?

337

:

What are our diets?

338

:

Like, these are all gonna

play massive roles, but.

339

:

Anyways.

340

:

I hope once again, that this is just

the spark for you to dive in for your

341

:

own health and your own research and

kind of see what works best for you.

:

do it for today's episode.

you walking away with some information.

tools like the EWG list.

347

:

To really start improving your health

or finding better products for you

348
