Principles Above Privileges – Daily Wisdom

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1807 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Proverbs 16:16  says, "How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!" If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget. Today’s quote is from Dwight D. Eisenhower, and it is, "A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both."

Principles Above Privileges

As Christ-followers, our principles must be grounded on the principles in God’s Word. Of course, we as believers do have privileges, but they are entirely based on what God has done and not on what we feel are our rights as humans or citizens of any particular government. Suppose we allow our privileges to be more important than our principles. In that case, they will soon break down. The point is that when the privileges which humans grant are taken from us, we will be left with neither privileges nor principles. We must never allow our principles to be compromised, to be granted a privilege.  All privileges that are not given to us by God will at some point be taken away.  When they are, we will be left with no foundation to stand on or live by, and we will become slaves to those who had previously granted us privilege. Stand only on the firm foundation of God’s Word; all other ground is sinking sand. Matthew 7:24-27 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.  Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise, and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.  But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand.  When the rains and floods come, and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of our Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.
