This happiness hack is all about laughter.

This episode is dedicated to one of my best friends, Ania, who in high school laughed with me so hard, we often got thrown out of the class. But you know, it was totally worth it.

Making jokes and laughing with others Laughter is bliss for the body! First of all, laughter s releases a cocktail of hormones such as:

endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemical, relieving pain

dopamine; making us instantly feel happy.

oxytocin; helping us to bond with others and be more trusting.

These in turn decrease the stress hormones and increase your immune cells count making you less susceptible to illness. A session of genuine laughter also has the potential to relax your muscles for up to 45 minutes, leaving your body recharged. Because laughter also increases the heart rate from 10% to 20%, laughing aloud improves the functioning of the blood vessels and we burn from 10 to 40 calories when giggling away ( not sure if we can laugh our lunch away but it might be worth a try!)

So keep healthy with laughter:

Gather your friends and family for evening of laughter with every member of the group needs to say a funny story or a joke

Attend a laughter yoga session; you can do it outside to combine it with benefits of being in nature

Make a list of movies that make you laugh. Have a laughter marathon by watching those with others to enjoy the benefits of laughter.

Thank you for listening to the Happiness Reset Campaign, I hope this happiness hack is useful and impactful. To learn more listen to episode 10; how to crack a good joke and laugh more often with James Lance who appeared on the podcast before the British-American comedy series Ted Lasso.
