Since the beginning of 2022 headline business news has been all about inflation. In the aftermath of COVID and especially following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, global inflation and rising interest rates have played havoc with the markets, both stock and bond.
Of course this too shall pass and we’re already seeing an improvement in inflation numbers that have come down from their peak of 9% last June to around 4% at the time of recording of this podcast on June 27th 2023.
So where are we headed from here ? No one knows for sure, but Simona Mocuta, Chief Economist of State Street Global Advisors has some very interesting thoughts on the subject.
Simona helps shape State Street Global Advisor’s views on key global economic developments and trends.
She produces forecasts and analysis for the G7 economies and key emerging markets as well as thought leadership articles on a wide range of macroeconomic topics, including a recent paper on where inflation is headed.
Simona has a fascinating personal history that includes making her way from her native Romania to the United States and earning a Master's degree in International Economics from Suffolk University in Boston, MA.
