Shownotes
In the fast-paced world we live in, it’s easy to feel that we should always be doing more. How can we stop putting so much pressure on ourselves? Can we still achieve our goals if we’re not moving towards them all day, everyday? On this episode, I speak to Kati Spaniak of The Spaniak Team in Chicago. She shares her advice for being kinder to yourself while working towards making your dreams a reality.
Stop comparing yourself to others in the business. Do what works for you. -Kati Spaniak
3 Things We Learned From This Episode
- Push yourself- but stop when you need to (03:26- 05:09)
When you remove the pressure you put on yourself to do things, you end up doing them out of your own free will. For example, tell yourself you’ll exercise for at least five minutes, and if after that you’re not enjoying it, stop. When you allow yourself to do things because you want to, and not because you have to, you’ll end up a lot more motivated.
- Acknowledge what you have done (06:18- 07:03)
Take a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come. You may not have achieved everything you’ve set your mind to yet, but you still have the time. Even if you’re not where you want to be at this very moment, acknowledge how far you’ve come since the start of your journey.
- Stop comparing yourself to others (14:44- 15:26)
Remember that your business belongs to you. As such, you need to be paying attention to the solutions and strategies that will work for you, specifically. By comparing yourself to others in the industry, you’re only doing yourself a disservice.
We live in an era that prioritizes seeing what other people are doing at all times. Don’t fall into the trap of comparing yourself with your peers and competitors. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when you’re trying to be the same as everyone else. The same goes for the pressure you put on yourself- don’t let it control you. Remember, you run your business- not the other way around.
