Shownotes

I've said it before — I'm not married to adjectives, and here's why I had to divorce myself from them. In readings, I might say someone's dealing with pent-up anger, and they'll correct me: "I wouldn't say anger, I'd say aggression." Conversations kept getting bogged down over that exact swap. So the real question became: why are so many people married to a specific adjective? It's easier to accept being aggressive than angry — even if aggressive behavior reads as anger to everyone else watching. Changing the word is what lets them sleep at night. Know thyself. Balance your energy.

Takeaways

  1. Arguing over which adjective is "correct" often derails the actual conversation about what's really going on.
  2. Swapping a harder word (anger) for a softer one (aggression) can be a way of avoiding the real truth just enough to stay comfortable with it.
