We have different reasons why we want to be useful to others, some do it for money, others to pay out debt, and of course, some is doing this for self-contentment, to return the gift that God has given to them and use it to serve others.
If the word useful is important to you because of the third reason - which is good, ask yourself. “I should be useful to whom?” If you figured out whom you want to be useful to, the next question is, “what is it inside of us that makes us want to be useful or do good?” After that, the last issue will be, “ what is it that makes us work? “
I should be useful to whom? - If your desire is to be helpful to your friends or your family, your children, or your church, or whoever it is, deciding how that is framed and how you make it happen is the key. It would be best if you determined what the things you want, whom you wish to serve whom you want to be useful to. Deciding whom to assist will help you think of ways how to be useful to that person to categorize what they need. So you have action plans ahead.
What is it that makes us want to do good, anyway? So think about that for a minute. If we're honest with ourselves, are we doing this because we just want to? Are we doing this because you want to be cool? Or, are you doing this because this is our desire? Your desire to do good? Maybe you wouldn’t notice, but each of us has an innate, inborn, intentional feeling to seek after good. Yes, we have different reasons; however, think, meditate, and feel your inner self. We are blessed as divine creations. That desire to do good is in our DNA. So the answer to the question, what is it that makes us useful? We are built that way.
Can I do good and be prosperous? You know, there are many behaviors that we see around us in the world that would suggest yes, that is our choice, to be of service or to be useful without using others. We can be prosperous in our own way without taking advantage of other people. As CS Lewis said, “Happiness comes not from having something, but only in having more of it than the next person.”

Your choice, to be of service or use, includes the truth that there is enough and to spare and is founded on the truth that there is adequate so you can be good, do good and be prosperous. It doesn't hurt your prosperity or mine doesn't have to come at the expense of someone else, or the expense of my integrity or your integrity, or the expanse of truth. You can be useful to be Powerful, live the Ultimate Life without taking advantage of someone else. So yes, you can do good and be prosperous, and as you live in that way, you move ever closer toward your ultimate life.
