In this episode of Meet Your Neighbor, I sit down with Ron Butler, a proud Marine originally from Independence, Missouri, whose life has been defined by service, adventure, and staying active.
During his time in the Marines, Ron took challenge to another level—logging more than 100 skydives, not because it was required, but purely for the love of it. That same drive carried him into an early retirement at age 48, and into a new chapter that looks anything but quiet.
Since retiring, Ron has remained deeply involved in his community through volunteering and staying busy with the people and causes that matter most to him. His story is a powerful reminder that retirement isn’t about slowing down—it’s about finding new ways to serve, connect, and live with purpose.
This conversation is a great example of what makes our community so special: neighbors with incredible life stories who continue to show up and make a difference every day.
