Working with bold colors. It’s not always easy. I’m Dan Hansen and this is a minute at RepcoLite.

I was just speaking with someone who had been checking out Benjamin Moore’s color trends for 2023. Now, the color trends guide is simply a collection of colors that Benjamin Moore publishes every year. It’s always connected with their color of the year.

This year, it’s a strange collection in the sense that ALL of the colors are bold and saturated. There are few muted shades here.

Well, I was speaking with someone who was inspired by all the bold uses of color in that pamphlet and so she picked some equally bold colors for her dining room.

Unfortunately, she got everything painted and when she stepped back and took it all in, she felt like she was engulfed in crazy color. It was WAY too much. Walking through the painted space made her want to close her eyes. The color was just too powerful.

It was confusing because in the pictures it looked great, but in her space it was mind-blowing–and not in a good way. Ever been there? We’ll talk about why that happens and how to avoid it next time. I’m Dan Hansen and that’s a Minute at RepcoLite.
