Many visitors to Japan are fascinated by the high-quality tools and crafts available - many of which are still made-in-Japan the same way they have been for generations. Yuko Naka's Australian husband is a landscape gardener and was impressed by even the cheapest of Japanese tools at the local shop. This started Yuko's passion for learning more about these tools and running a successful import business from Japanese craftspeople to the Australian market.

See the video of our talk here on the Seek Sustainable Japan talkshow-podcast on YouTube.

Yuko Nakao is the Director of the Shokunin Store- a curated import shop of high-quality, handcrafted traditional tools and artisan goods from Japan.

Yuko and her partner Lindsey- a professional landscaper- fell in love with Japanese gardening tools as they renovated a traditional Minka house in Hiroshima, Japan. Yuko has spent years making connections with craftspeople across Japan since 2017 in order to share their products with the Australian and now even a global audience from their base in Sydney, Australia.

Yuko shares her passion for supporting the craftspeople and keeping these traditional trades alive. We also talk about the positive reaction to their sustainable, high-quality, made-in Japan products.
