Speaker:love having genuine conversations with
Speaker:amazing women who are doing phenomenal
Speaker:things because when we get to share a
Speaker:piece of our story and our journey, at
Speaker:least for me, that's how I receive and how
Speaker:I learn best. And I'm all about having the
Speaker:right tools in my toolbox. Absolutely
Speaker:wonderful. So, Miss Rebecca, I know a
Speaker:little bit about some of the amazing
Speaker:things that you've done, but please take a
Speaker:moment and introduce yourself to the
Speaker:toolbox audience. Yeah. So I am so
Speaker:surprised and delighted that I was rated
Speaker:top five entrepreneurs to watch in USA
Speaker:Today. It was never my intention to be a
Speaker:top rated entrepreneur. I moved to LA 23
Speaker:years ago to pursue my childhood dream of
Speaker:being an actress. And although I had small
Speaker:parts on big shows like friends, CSI, and
Speaker:24. I never caught that big break. And I
Speaker:found myself working in the children's
Speaker:acting school business. It was really fun
Speaker:for me because I don't have kids of my own
Speaker:and I love their performing arts. And
Speaker:while the kids were off at school, I would
Speaker:study with great spiritual teachers and
Speaker:attend their lectures. People like Michael
Speaker:Beckwith, Abraham Hicks, Louise Hay,
Speaker:Marian Williamson, Wayne Dyer. I and I
Speaker:started applying their teachings to my
Speaker:life, and I started to see my life
Speaker:transform. I began making six figures
Speaker:working part time in the kids acting
Speaker:school business. I got healthier. But the
Speaker:one area that really challenged me and
Speaker:broke my heart too many times to count was
Speaker:my love life. I had the habit of picking
Speaker:emotionally unavailable, narcissistic
Speaker:Mendez, and I tried to change one by
Speaker:marrying him. And we all know how that
Speaker:works out. He did not change. And three
Speaker:years after marriage, I filed for divorce.
Speaker:And as my marriage was painfully and
Speaker:slowly unraveling, my dad was painfully
Speaker:and slowly dying. And in one of my last
Speaker:conversations with my dad, he asked me to
Speaker:write a book. A few months later, my dad
Speaker:had passed away, my marriage had been
Speaker:dissolved, and I was sitting across the
Speaker:desk from for my financial planner, and he
Speaker:said, Rebecca, I know you lost your dad in
Speaker:your marriage, but I'm shocked to inform
Speaker:you that you are a self made millionaire
Speaker:and you're having your best financial year
Speaker:ever while you're going under, while
Speaker:you're under loss and tragedy. And I think
Speaker:you should write a book and teach women
Speaker:how to be so resilient. So I wrote a book.
Speaker:It's called how to make a six figure
Speaker:income working part time. And in the book,
Speaker:I divide life into seven key areas, which
Speaker:I call my seven pillars of abundance. And
Speaker:when your life is lined, aligned in these
Speaker:seven key areas, you can be, do, or have
Speaker:anything you want. Now, I empower women to
Speaker:go from burned out to balance, beautiful
Speaker:and abundant. I coach women one on one,
Speaker:group coaching. And I'm leading my second
Speaker:international retreat this year in Belize.
Speaker:And I also have a hit podcast that you're
Speaker:going to be on called the Balance
Speaker:Beautiful and abundant show. That is so
Speaker:awesome. I've got so many great questions
Speaker:I want to ask, but before we get started,
Speaker:let me take a moment to. Let me take a
Speaker:pause. I can't get my words together,
Speaker:y'all let me take a pause for a small
Speaker:commercial break and we'll be right back.
Speaker:All right, that's enough for them to
Speaker:insert that there. And welcome back to
Speaker:Laquita's toolbox, you guys. We have the
Speaker:amazing Miss Rebecca Whitman with us in
Speaker:the office and in the studio. Excuse me.
Speaker:And if you've missed the first half of
Speaker:this podcast, go ahead and hit that rewind
Speaker:button now so that you can be empowered.
Speaker:Simply by her intro, ladies. Simply by her
Speaker:intro. I mean, you were going through some
Speaker:stuff, sis. Like you were going through
Speaker:some stuff, only to be told that, wow. In
Speaker:the midst of what had to be one of the
Speaker:most traumatic times in your life, you've
Speaker:suffered loss after loss. The loss of your
Speaker:father, the loss of your marriage, to be
Speaker:told by your financial advisor, yet you
Speaker:lost, but you won. You're having the best
Speaker:financial year. And then out of that loss
Speaker:of your father, you kept a promise and
Speaker:wrote a book. Yes. That was also advised
Speaker:to you then as well by others. Hey, you
Speaker:should write a book about how you were
Speaker:able to do this despite your circumstances
Speaker:and situations and, and that. And out of
Speaker:that, we have the, um, the. You've created
Speaker:the seven pillars of abundance. So can you
Speaker:talk to us, please talk to us more about
Speaker:those seven pillars of abundance because
Speaker:how did you do that in the midst of all of
Speaker:that? How did you not just. I'm not like,
Speaker:becoming a self made millionaire is
Speaker:nothing to, like, downplay, but I'm
Speaker:thinking of myself. I don't even know how
Speaker:I would have made it to work, much less
Speaker:earn money. That the money can make money
Speaker:for me. Yes. And do that in that time. So
Speaker:talk to us more, please, about those seven
Speaker:pillars of abundance. The seven pillars of
Speaker:abundance are the seven key areas of life.
Speaker:And even though I had a lot of pain in my
Speaker:love life and with watching my dad
Speaker:decline, I was really aware to keep all
Speaker:the other areas of my life at a level ten.
Speaker:So the seven pillars are in order of
Speaker:importance. The first one is spirituality.
Speaker:I am a huge believer in having a morning
Speaker:ritual, and journaling has been such a
Speaker:crucial part of my connection to my higher
Speaker:power, which I choose to call God. And
Speaker:every morning I journal. I met a woman 30
Speaker:years ago at a twelve step meeting, and
Speaker:she gave me a few life changing journal
Speaker:prompts that I've been writing every
Speaker:morning for 30 years. I added a few of my
Speaker:own and it has helped turn my negative
Speaker:situations to learning experiences. Be
Speaker:aware of my wins, celebrate others wins.
Speaker:And with your permission, Lakita, I'd love
Speaker:to gift your audience with this abundance
Speaker:journal because it's been the number one
Speaker:tool to keep me positive and connected to
Speaker:the divine. Is that okay with you? That is
Speaker:absolutely okay with me. Such a great
Speaker:gift, guys, listen, y'all need to get this
Speaker:episode out to as many people as possible,
Speaker:because that journal, 30 years of use, 30
Speaker:years of applying these print, applying
Speaker:these principles have been a blessing in
Speaker:every aspect of her life. So principles
Speaker:work. So let's work these principles. I
Speaker:need a journal. Awesome. The second area
Speaker:of abundance is physical. So I'm a huge
Speaker:believer in putting your body before your
Speaker:business. I believe in working out, moving
Speaker:your body every single morning. The third
Speaker:pillar of abundance is emotional. And all
Speaker:emotions come from a base emotion of fear
Speaker:or love, or you could say of scarcity or
Speaker:abundance. So, thinking there's not enough
Speaker:of whatever it is that you want, not
Speaker:enough time, not enough money, not enough
Speaker:love, not enough energy. That is scarcity
Speaker:thinking. The goal is to flip it into
Speaker:abundance. I have more than enough time. I
Speaker:have more than enough love, more than
Speaker:enough energy, more than enough money to
Speaker:be happy. So it is a discipline that you
Speaker:want to be aware of when you're in
Speaker:scarcity. And there's two ways to switch
Speaker:into abundance. One is through
Speaker:affirmations. I am a huge believer in
Speaker:affirmations. After every chapter in this
Speaker:book, you get three customized
Speaker:affirmations for each pillar of abundance.
Speaker:For example, I am a spiritual being having
Speaker:a human experience. I have a connection to
Speaker:the divine that gives me peace and ease,
Speaker:and I am able to go with the flow, knowing
Speaker:that everything works out for me. So those
Speaker:are three affirmations. Then, after
Speaker:emotion is romance. I encourage my clients
Speaker:to walk away from relationships that no
Speaker:longer serve their highest good, to walk
Speaker:away from toxic relationships because the
Speaker:romance affects all the other areas of
Speaker:your life. And I teach women how to
Speaker:manifest their soulmate in midlife. I'm
Speaker:now happily married to my soulmate for two
Speaker:years, and I teach women how to manifest
Speaker:their soulmate in midlife in seven simple
Speaker:steps. We'll have to save those for
Speaker:another episode. The next area. Oh, yeah,
Speaker:that's a hot topic. Yep. The next area of
Speaker:abundance after romantic is a mental. And
Speaker:that is what you guys are all doing right
Speaker:here, right now, listening to the awesome
Speaker:show Lakita's toolbox. You are working on
Speaker:your mental growing your mind, working on
Speaker:that growth mindset. It could be listening
Speaker:to a podcast, an audible, a YouTube, or
Speaker:learning a new skill like cooking a new
Speaker:recipe or learning a new sport. Even
Speaker:travel helps grow our mindset. The next
Speaker:area is social, and we are in an epidemic
Speaker:of loneliness, suicide, depression. People
Speaker:are hiding out at home behind their
Speaker:technology, and they're not connecting
Speaker:enough. So now that the world is opened
Speaker:up, I am a big believer in going to live
Speaker:events, go to classes, go to church, go to
Speaker:temple, go to a dog park, wherever the
Speaker:coffee shop, meet people, go out into the
Speaker:world and connect. Your community helps
Speaker:your immunity. And it's, you know, during
Speaker:that hard year when I was losing my dad in
Speaker:my marriage, it was women in my community
Speaker:that carried me through. Yes. Finally, the
Speaker:7th pillar of abundance is financial. And
Speaker:I am a huge believer in having multiple
Speaker:streams of income. One of my programs is
Speaker:teaching women to create a six figure side
Speaker:hustle and I believe in multiple streams
Speaker:of income. Most coaches say quit your job,
Speaker:max out your credit cards. You have to put
Speaker:a all your cards on the table. But that
Speaker:causes a lot of anxiety, especially for
Speaker:women. So I say keep your job, get your
Speaker:health insurance and your bills paid, and
Speaker:then create a side hustle where we can
Speaker:turn your passion into profit. And that is
Speaker:an overview of my seven pillar framework.
Speaker:That is amazing. I mean, we can pick that.
Speaker:I could pick each one of those and that's
Speaker:just an episode all by itself. But, you
Speaker:know, the thing that I noticed most there
Speaker:is this. You say the 7th pillar as
Speaker:finance. We can look at that as that's the
Speaker:biggest foundation and everything goes up
Speaker:from there. But from where I'm sitting, in
Speaker:my perspective, if the way I see it is the
Speaker:order of importance that you laid them
Speaker:out, at least for me personally, I don't
Speaker:know how you, the viewers are going to
Speaker:review it, but for me personally, if I get
Speaker:those first six working synergistically
Speaker:together, then it keeps me in a space
Speaker:mentally, emotionally, spiritually, that I
Speaker:have the energy required to do number
Speaker:seven. Yeah. So most people, most people,
Speaker:Lakita, think abundance means money and
Speaker:they put all their effort and energy into
Speaker:making money. They think I'll just focus
Speaker:on making money. I'll finally have enough
Speaker:money to hire a trainer and get in shape.
Speaker:Then I'll look really good, I'll attract
Speaker:my soulmate, we'll go on spiritual
Speaker:retreats and we'll socialize with other
Speaker:couples and then I'll be happy. But you're
Speaker:exactly correct, Lakita. It is the last
Speaker:piece of the puzzle and they are in order
Speaker:of importance. So when you have a strong
Speaker:relationship with spirituality, when
Speaker:you're healthy, when you're happy, when
Speaker:you're in love, when you have friends,
Speaker:when you're working on your growth
Speaker:mindset, that is when financial abundance
Speaker:comes in. It is actually, in my
Speaker:experience, the last piece of the puzzle
Speaker:to click. Into place, into place, you
Speaker:know? And I said that per my own
Speaker:experience, it's like, I've been married
Speaker:a. Long time, and I have how many years
Speaker:and how many children? We've just
Speaker:celebrated 27 years of marriage and five
Speaker:children. Congratulations. That's
Speaker:inspiring to me. Thank you. Thank you.
Speaker:It's some hard work, but when, when you
Speaker:were laying out those seven pillars, I
Speaker:had, like, a mental road trip in my mind
Speaker:of things from when we were younger and
Speaker:first married into where we are now. And
Speaker:we put so much energy into earning the
Speaker:money. My husband's climbing the ladder in
Speaker:the military. I'm trying to figure out
Speaker:what I want to do to earn money in a way
Speaker:that we could afford daycare because we
Speaker:have so many children, working outside the
Speaker:home became difficult. And so I finally
Speaker:figured out the route to establishing an
Speaker:in home daycare as my way of still being
Speaker:able to be 100% present for my kids. But I
Speaker:needed to earn money because it made me
Speaker:feel good, like I was contributing, but we
Speaker:needed it. Let's flat out needed it. And
Speaker:we were so busy grinding that the other
Speaker:pillars you were talking about, we didn't
Speaker:pay a lot of attention to them. And it was
Speaker:really what you said, we've got to make
Speaker:this money, because we often have more
Speaker:month than money, or we need to know so
Speaker:many things we want our children to do and
Speaker:all of these things. And it wasn't until
Speaker:2010, and we were married in 98, it wasn't
Speaker:until 2010 we moved out of the country to
Speaker:the UK. And the first three months we
Speaker:lived in the UK, we were very angry
Speaker:because no one was in a hurry. It was the
Speaker:mindset. The mindset was different. And
Speaker:one day, my husband and I were at a coffee
Speaker:shop having a conversation, and it just
Speaker:dawned on us, like, why are we in a hurry?
Speaker:Why are we always, you know, all of the
Speaker:negative things, like, why are we always
Speaker:chasing this, chasing that? Why aren't we
Speaker:putting ourselves first? Putting ourselves
Speaker:first, you know, doing the. Doing the
Speaker:exercise, spending the time with each
Speaker:other, spending the time with the kids,
Speaker:you know, growing spiritually, growing
Speaker:personally, looking at our own personal
Speaker:development, all of these things, it took
Speaker:us leaving the country to have, and it.
Speaker:The first 90 days outside of the country,
Speaker:we weren't happy about it, but when it
Speaker:clicked and we started working on the
Speaker:things that matter, the money came. I was
Speaker:like, if one day we woke up and realized,
Speaker:oh, we're not struggling. When did that
Speaker:happen? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like when
Speaker:you just chase money, it's like chasing
Speaker:the butterfly. It flies away. But if you
Speaker:just find a way to sit still and feel
Speaker:centered, the butterfly might just fly in,
Speaker:you know, graze your shoulder or sit on
Speaker:your shoulder. And when you're in survival
Speaker:mode, it's like, well, if I don't work,
Speaker:then I'm not going to get paid. But you
Speaker:can also get really sick if you don't take
Speaker:care of your health. And if you don't take
Speaker:care of your emotions, you can actually
Speaker:get so sick that you miss out on way more
Speaker:work than if you just would have taken
Speaker:that, you know, 30 minutes to walk every
Speaker:day or, you know, just spent an extra ten
Speaker:minutes in the kitchen cooking rather than
Speaker:doing a microwave meal to get a little
Speaker:healthier. So it. It really is true that
Speaker:if you want to stay abundant and balanced,
Speaker:beautiful, like the. My slogan says,
Speaker:balance, beautiful and abundant, you want
Speaker:to take time, and there's different
Speaker:seasons. You know, if you have five kids
Speaker:under 18, obviously you're not going to
Speaker:have as much time to socialize with your
Speaker:girlfriends because your priority is your
Speaker:family. But just know that, you know,
Speaker:maybe you can socialize with your friends,
Speaker:like, once a month and have, like, a
Speaker:coffee or a lunch or a walk with a
Speaker:girlfriend, just. Just knowing that these
Speaker:seven key areas of life are there and that
Speaker:you want to touch all of them when you're
Speaker:living your life. You're absolutely
Speaker:correct. I'm just. Had I read this book,
Speaker:had this book been available when I was
Speaker:old, maybe about 25, things would have
Speaker:been a lot different, because, yes, you
Speaker:know, whether you have the big families
Speaker:like we did, or whatever the case may be,
Speaker:I found that the Lord designed us mind,
Speaker:body, and spirit, and we have to take care
Speaker:of that. And when we take care of
Speaker:ourselves in that way, literally
Speaker:everything else is taken care of. When we
Speaker:take care of ourselves in that way,
Speaker:everything else is taken care of. And it
Speaker:took us a long time to figure that out
Speaker:when we took care of ourselves
Speaker:individually. And it was scary for me as a
Speaker:parent, and I know a lot of women will
Speaker:attest to this. How can I not put my
Speaker:children first? Or even married women? How
Speaker:can I not put my husband first? Well,
Speaker:here's the deal, sis. If you don't put you
Speaker:first, you have nothing to give them. You
Speaker:will eventually run out, and then you'll
Speaker:be upset because nobody is giving to you.
Speaker:But you've trained everybody around you to
Speaker:take and not give. And I had to get over
Speaker:that. Like, I had to go through therapy to
Speaker:process that. Like, what are. What is
Speaker:happening here? And not be angry all the
Speaker:time. But your seven pillars are. I mean,
Speaker:I don't want to say revolutionary. Cause
Speaker:it's practical, right? But it
Speaker:revolutionary. It makes you stop and think
Speaker:and do the simple things, because we can
Speaker:have time for simple things like putting
Speaker:ourselves first. But what are we willing
Speaker:to sacrifice and recognize that we need to
Speaker:get rid of in order to be able to put
Speaker:ourselves first and know that that's not
Speaker:selfish is necessary. And it's life giving
Speaker:to me, because if I can't give it to me, I
Speaker:don't have anything to give to the people
Speaker:who I'm killing myself to give stuff to.
Speaker:That's right. I like to say that self care
Speaker:is not selfish, because the worst thing
Speaker:you could call a woman is selfish. Women
Speaker:are taught to nurture and give to everyone
Speaker:else first and put themselves last. But if
Speaker:a woman is coming from depletion and
Speaker:burnout, she's not going to be a good mom.
Speaker:She's not going to be a good wife. She's
Speaker:not going to be a joyful, cheerful giver.
Speaker:She's going to be a resentful giver and a
Speaker:tired giver. And when you are burned out,
Speaker:you're not of maximum service to God and
Speaker:to your fellows. So we want to give from a
Speaker:full cup. Pour into yourself first with
Speaker:all seven pillars. With having a morning
Speaker:practice of prayer, journaling,
Speaker:meditation, with exercise, with keeping
Speaker:your emotions and abundance and love, not
Speaker:letting yourself drop down to fear and
Speaker:scarcity. Socialize, have fun, have that
Speaker:date night, do all that stuff. And then
Speaker:you can show up and be a better mom and be
Speaker:a better boss, be a better employee,
Speaker:sister, a daughter. When you are. When
Speaker:you're full. When you're full of joy. Yes,
Speaker:yes, yes, yes. And more yeses on top of
Speaker:that. Ladies, I hope you've been
Speaker:listening. I hope you have been listening.
Speaker:And this is one of those episodes where
Speaker:you. You kind of gotta listen to it once
Speaker:or twice a and then come back and take
Speaker:some notes on it. It has to. You have to
Speaker:roll this over in your spirit. You have to
Speaker:think on this and meditate on it, because
Speaker:some of you may be saying liquid. And
Speaker:Rebecca, y'all make it sound so easy,
Speaker:because honestly, it is. We make it hard
Speaker:by carrying a burden that we were never
Speaker:designed to carry. Like all of these
Speaker:things that the world has said or culture
Speaker:has said that we have to be. It's not
Speaker:true. And as Rebecca said, self care and
Speaker:putting yourself first is not selfish. At
Speaker:all. But it is what will make you one of
Speaker:the tools that you need in your toolbox to
Speaker:help you become the best version of
Speaker:yourself at any given moment. Miss
Speaker:Rebecca, I've definitely been enjoying
Speaker:this conversation, but before we wrap it
Speaker:up, and I hate to wrap it up, I'm inviting
Speaker:you back to another amazing episode of
Speaker:Laquita's toolbox because I really want to
Speaker:take some time and unpack maybe one or two
Speaker:of your pillars and talk more about some
Speaker:of the programs that you have and making
Speaker:sure that the Laquita's toolbox audience
Speaker:knows when and how to connect with you.
Speaker:So, please, before we wrap up, leave us
Speaker:one more tool and let us know how to
Speaker:connect with you and what you have coming
Speaker:up. Thank you. I will leave you with one
Speaker:more tool, and that is keeping your mind
Speaker:in the present. When you think about the
Speaker:past, it's usually depression or regret. I
Speaker:am a recovering perfectionist, so it's
Speaker:like using the words could have, would
Speaker:have, and should have are ways that I used
Speaker:to beat myself up. Take would have, could
Speaker:have, and should have out of your
Speaker:vocabulary. The past, it's over. It's
Speaker:done. It all happened the way it was
Speaker:supposed to. And your divine design by
Speaker:God. Stop second guessing yourself in the
Speaker:past. The future is anxiety. Oh, my God.
Speaker:How am I going to pay my bills? How am I
Speaker:going to take care of my kids? What's
Speaker:going to happen? What's going to happen in
Speaker:the world? You know, there's wars, there's
Speaker:an election. There's all kinds of stuff to
Speaker:worry about in the future. We could be an
Speaker:anxiety sting way out ahead of ourselves,
Speaker:catastrophizing. I am going to leave you
Speaker:with the tool of staying in the present
Speaker:moment. Now, how do you get into the
Speaker:present moment? You use your five senses.
Speaker:What am I seeing? What am I smelling? What
Speaker:am I tasting? What am I touching? What am
Speaker:I listening to? And you get grounded in
Speaker:your five senses. And if you're still in
Speaker:your head, by the way, if you're in your
Speaker:head, you're dead. But if you still can't
Speaker:get into the senses and into your body,
Speaker:then just do the next right thing. If you
Speaker:are in overwhelm, do the next indicated
Speaker:action. Ask God. I can tell that you guys
Speaker:speak about God on this show. Jesus. What
Speaker:is my next indicated action? Guide my
Speaker:feet. Guide my feet. Your head can be
Speaker:spinning. Guide my feet. What is my next
Speaker:right step? And then you will be amazed if
Speaker:you keep asking for guidance. We're in the
Speaker:next right step and the next right step
Speaker:and the next right step. Before you know
Speaker:it, your day will be over and you will
Speaker:have had a peaceful day. And that is the
Speaker:goal. To live a life of peace, ease, and
Speaker:spiritual dignity. I love that peace,
Speaker:ease, and spiritual dignity. You should
Speaker:write a book on that. I love that peace,
Speaker:ease and spiritual dignity. Love it, love
Speaker:it, love it. Listen, Miss Rebecca, it has
Speaker:been my pleasure, and again, we're going
Speaker:to have you on again real soon so we can
Speaker:talk more about the seven pillars of
Speaker:abundance and stay connected with you.
Speaker:Because I am a firm believer in having the
Speaker:right tools in your toolbox. And not just
Speaker:having them, but knowing how to use them
Speaker:and easily implement them so they can go
Speaker:and become a part of who you are to create
Speaker:the change you need to be need to have in
Speaker:order to become the best version of
Speaker:yourself. Thank you again. Thank you to
Speaker:those that are tuned into this episode of
Speaker:Laquita's Toolbox. We appreciate you and
Speaker:love you. Thank you so much for that
Speaker:support. Please hit that like share and
Speaker:subscribe button on your favorite podcast
Speaker:listening platforms. Don't forget to ring
Speaker:that notification bell as well so you can
Speaker:be notified when we release new episodes
Speaker:of Laquita's Toolbox. Until next time, I
Speaker:am your host, Laquita Manley. You guys be
Speaker:blessed and have an. Amazing I forgot to
Speaker:say how to stay in touch with me, so let's
