The birth of a baby is usually a joyous occasion (baby held by nurse Lois Baklenko). That joy turned to sorrow for Reuben and Grace Larson when their son, Robert Lee, died shortly after being born at the Jones’ Quinta Corston home.

Clarence and Katherine Jones experienced the same sorrow when their daughter Elizabeth Pearl died just two days after birth.

These personal losses prompted Clarence and Reuben to seek medical staff for a clinic to better care for the medical needs of HCJB’s missionaries and Ecuadorian staff.
