“Wait a minute, Doc. Are you telling me you build a Time Machine… out of a DeLorean?” Can you believe that we are 8 years past the future in “Back to the Future Part II”?! That’s right. Marty and Doc went to October 21, 2015. Heavy, right?
Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale got FaceTime and flat-screen TVs right. But we still don’t have flying cars or hoverboards. Or do we?
This week, we welcome back Geek Girl Amelia as we discuss her Favorite Films of All Time: “Back to the Future.” We watched a couple of “documentaries” about the “Back to the Future” trilogy.
First up, the real documentary: “Back in Time. This is an excellent look at the cultural impact of the “Back to the Future” trilogy in pop culture. This feature film came out in 2015 for the 30th anniversary of the original film—and in the future year that Doc and Marty went to.
The other “doc” we watched was “Expedition: Back to the Future.” Not really a documentary, this was a set-up with Josh Gates and Christopher Lloyd who are tasked with finding the iconic DeLeorean Time Machine to deliver to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for a fundraiser. Totally contrived but still cute. And we do get a glimpse at the amazing collection of father-son BTTF aficionados Bill Shea and Patrick Shea. If you can imagine it, they have collected it… and then some!
Finally, Amelia shares with us some of the fabulous array of BTTF memorabilia that she has collected over the years. And, yes, she can indeed quote the dialogue verbatim!
Always remember: “The Future isn’t written. It can be changed.”
