  • Q&A Format: I love the question-and-answer approach, and I'm ready to answer your questions, find experts who can, or direct you to reliable resources.
  • No Hucksters Allowed: I'm all about the truth, the basics, and the fundamentals. I'll disclose any vested interest and keep things transparent.
  • A Focus on You: This podcast isn't about promoting products or programs; it's about helping you with your fitness journey.

Highlights:

  • Relearning the Squat: I recently relearned the squat, and I want to share how the Q&A format helped me.
  • 20 Years of Fitness Questions: With over two decades of experience, I have a wealth of knowledge to share.
  • An Experiment in Fitness: I'm not a fan of the fitness industry's money-driven approach, but I'm here to share what I like, what works, and why.
  • Financial Advice and Disclosure: I believe in being upfront and honest, especially when there's a vested interest involved.

Transcripts

Marc:

Welcome to episode one of the Just Ask Marc Fitness

Marc:

and Bodybuilding audio podcast.

Marc:

I decided I needed to start podcasting again.

Marc:

Mainly because I enjoy it.

Marc:

I like to get the information out there.

Marc:

And I am sure that this podcast is gonna change a lot.

Marc:

Now I've, even after 20 years and just the invention of the internet and I,

Marc:

it doesn't really matter, fitness is still a primary focus for most people.

Marc:

And what I found that works for me, and maybe for you as well, is that

Marc:

bodybuilding, fitness, health, whatever.

Marc:

If it's done in a question answer format, until you reach a point

Marc:

where you know the very basics, then you can work within that framework.

Marc:

So recently I started thinking about the squat, and I wanted to

Marc:

go back and relearn the squat.

Marc:

Now just follow me on the story here.

Marc:

The point is, I really like the q and A format.

Marc:

How does you know?

Marc:

Where should my hands be?

Marc:

What should I be doing?

Marc:

Now granted, I could go out and buy a book or watch a million videos on it,

Marc:

which I did, but initially the q and a format works very well and that's

Marc:

what I did with the podcast years ago.

Marc:

And I believe it's the same method right now where if you have a question

Marc:

and you ask it, and you can find the contact information on the webpage.

Marc:

Then I either can go out and find you the answer, I already know the

Marc:

answer, or I can point you to somebody who probably has a better answer.

Marc:

And therefore you have a concierge, so to speak.

Marc:

And if you don't have a keen understanding of the fundamentals, then let me

Marc:

tell you this, you're gonna be a sucker for every huckster that sells

Marc:

you gluten-free diet or convinces you that hard gainers do exist.

Marc:

One way or the other, I'm just here to disseminate some information, have

Marc:

some dialogue, have some discussions, and like I said in the very beginning,

Marc:

I do like me a good podcast.

Marc:

To be honest, when it comes to bodybuilding, the most, the worst

Marc:

critic has always been myself.

Marc:

Now, I did pull a 500 pound deadlift and I'm proud of that, but this

Marc:

podcast slash video, whatever, we're gonna call this right now.

Marc:

It's not gonna be about me, it's morally focused about you.

Marc:

I like to hear my, like I said, I like to hear myself talk, but

Marc:

I also want to answer questions.

Marc:

And help you if I can.

Marc:

And that leads me to the next section.

Marc:

Look, if you have questions, maybe I know the answer and if I don't,

Marc:

I've had over 20 years collecting fitness related questions.

Marc:

I can post them,

Marc:

There's just a lot of things that stay the same and fundamentals, and

Marc:

basically this site's gonna be more of an experiment than anything else.

Marc:

I don't really care for the fitness industry as a whole.

Marc:

And basically it's just a business like anything else.

Marc:

And I, and by that I mean I think a lot of people have a very biased me method

Marc:

to their madness in that the information that they are telling you, they definitely

Marc:

have a reason for telling you that.

Marc:

And it usually involves money.

Marc:

I'm not, now, that's not to say that we don't all have bills to

Marc:

pay, but disclosure upfront, Is a good thing, and I will do that.

Marc:

If I'm going to tell you about a link or promote some kind of a program, I'll

Marc:

be as upfront and honest as I can so that you know that I have a, some type

Marc:

of an interest in telling you about it.

Marc:

Now, for the most part, I'm gonna tell you about things I like.

Marc:

I've tried workouts, whatever, but I also will disclose that bias so that

Marc:

you understand where I'm coming from.

Marc:

I remember my dad used to tell me, he said, and this is, this pertained

Marc:

to financial advice, but if the financial advice you're getting.

Marc:

Is based upon somebody's, they have a vested interest in giving you that advice.

Marc:

Then you gotta, you really should be wary or be cautious of them.

Marc:

And I probably screwed up that quote or whatever, but basically if

Marc:

there's a vested interest in it, I'm gonna disclose that because I think

Marc:

that's important that you understand my reasoning for saying something.

Marc:

So I'll let you know about that.

Marc:

But regardless, there's truth, there's basics, there's fundamentals that we can

Marc:

all use every day to lead a better life.

Marc:

Depend whatever your goal is.

Marc:

So I wanna invite you along on this journey.

Marc:

You're welcome to ask a question any time.

Marc:

Hopefully I'll be able to answer it in a podcast.

Marc:

It's what I used to do.

Marc:

A few years ago, people would just send an email with a question and I'd spend

Marc:

the next few minutes answering it.

Marc:

And a lot of times it happened to be a question that other listeners had as well.

Marc:

So this won't be just a.

Marc:

Podcast where I invite a bunch of guests on and we talk about a scientific subject

Marc:

or something at length, or I invite somebody on just to talk about their

Marc:

bodybuilding program and send you a link.

Marc:

That's not really what this podcast is gonna be about.

Marc:

It's like I said, it's for me to get back into podcasting and for you to

Marc:

hopefully get some Q and As individually.

Marc:

And if nothing else, be an internet concierge where I can tell you A, a

Marc:

resource that I'm confident in that could help you answer a question or

Marc:

get you help that you need, and maybe we can learn something together.

Marc:

Now, if you have any questions, you can either go to the site, which is

Marc:

just Ask Mark, mark with a c.com, or you can simply send me an email at

Marc:

mark, m a r c at, just ask mark.com.

Marc:

Put podcast or something in the subject.

Marc:

That way I know that it's directed at.

Marc:

What I'm doing here, and hopefully I can answer your question or direct

Marc:

you to somebody who can, and I'd like to start doing podcasts that

Marc:

pertain more to what you want to hear and the subjects that you want to

Marc:

hear, as opposed to just me randomly.

Marc:

And picking things, although I'll occasionally do that.

Marc:

So hopefully you'll find the subscriber links on the site.

Marc:

You can add yourself, put this in your podcast player, iTunes

Marc:

whatever the heck you want.

Marc:

Listen on the site as well.

Marc:

I've got some web players on there, and I'm here to have a whole lot of fun and

Marc:

hopefully you can have some fun as well.
