Are You An Actor?

By Tammy Lacock

Warren Litzman is a follower of the Apostle Paul as Paul is a follower of Christ (1 Corinthian 1:11). The Apostle Paul was the only man God ever dealt with in the Bible regarding the Gospel of Christ to the born-again believer. God raised him up to bring us the final gospel, that is, Christ living in every believer. Throughout his epistles, the questions Paul answers for believers are, who am I, and how am I to live?

Warren explains that Paul was the greatest psychologist of our time. He understood the mind of human beings because, he, himself was growing up in Christ and finally understanding, through the help of the Holy Spirit, who God created him to be in Christ.

Warren explains that if we don’t know who we are, our true identity, then we’re going around as an actor in this world and Christianity will never work.

Through Paul’s epistles, Warren helps us understand that our true identity is Christ. We are Christians because we are Christ-persons. We are not the church building we go to. We are not the things we do or even the titles and labels we give ourselves. We are not sinners trying to act Christ-like.

As born-again Christians, we are entirely new creations. As Warren explains, humans are tripartite beings made up of three distinct parts: a spirit, a soul, and a body. When we believed on Jesus Christ as our Savior, our spirits were saved by being joined to the Lord’s Spirit. His Spirit overwhelms our spirit, and we become one Spirit “He that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:17).

In God’s eyes, we are now perfect in spirit because He sees Christ as our righteousness, our new life. There is nothing we can do or not do to be saved because Christ did the work on the cross and by God’s Grace we are saved.

Yet our souls—our minds, will, and emotions—are not yet transformed to our new life. Our minds, as Paul says, must be continually renewed if we are to grow up and learn of our new life in Him. Our souls are being perfected (matured) as we get to know Him and love Him as our new life. Christianity is union, a love affair, a marriage to Christ, in operation.

“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.” (Ephesians 1:4)

So the question remains:

Who are you?

Are you an actor or a true Christian?

As a born-again believer, the real you is Christ. As you grow up in the knowledge of Him as your new life, may you drop the pain and suffering that comes with acting and let Him, your true identity, shine through.
