Speaker:

Hey, it is Cat here with a bonus audio only

Speaker:

episode of the Momentum Experiment, which will be returning

Speaker:

regularly in a few weeks. Today I'm sharing a new direction

Speaker:

for the podcast, so I'll cover what's changing, why

Speaker:

I've chosen this new direction, and what you can expect from me.

Speaker:

So let's start with the biggest change. I am shifting the show to take you

Speaker:

behind the scenes as I pursue an audacious goal.

Speaker:

I want to reach 1 million people through speaking and writing.

Speaker:

No, I am not just talking about views on social media. I mean

Speaker:

people in rooms where I speak and the people reading my newsletter and

Speaker:

eventually my book. The podcast will be documenting

Speaker:

this experiment of mine as I work to build momentum towards

Speaker:

reaching more people with my message. Now, in case you were

Speaker:

wondering, Cat, just. Just to be clear, what message are you

Speaker:

trying to share? Well, that's a great question. And ultimately, at the

Speaker:

core, I want people to understand that a lack of

Speaker:

follow through doesn't mean there's something wrong with you. It means you

Speaker:

are trying to solve the wrong problem. It's shifting people's

Speaker:

perspectives about the real reasons they're not following through on what

Speaker:

matters. It's hearing from people like Amanda, who

Speaker:

after one of my sessions shared with me, it was so

Speaker:

useful for me. It felt like an aha moment, realizing

Speaker:

how I hold back. But I keep trying to solve the

Speaker:

problem by seeking more information or hearing from

Speaker:

another participant who said, great session. It helped me

Speaker:

rethink my areas, logical, biological and psychological.

Speaker:

I'm actually needing to upgrade in all three areas, but I feel less

Speaker:

overwhelmed now because I can try to improve on each one or

Speaker:

one at a time. I have heard over and over from people

Speaker:

that my message has changed how they approach being stuck.

Speaker:

And even individuals who have shared that although they are still stuck,

Speaker:

they're being much kinder with themselves because they have a

Speaker:

better understanding of what's going on. And I know this

Speaker:

firsthand. I have experienced the shift in my thinking.

Speaker:

I am much kinder, I am more compassionate, and

Speaker:

ultimately, I am more patient with myself. It doesn't mean

Speaker:

I don't get frustrated. I do. I am human, after all.

Speaker:

But I have stopped assuming that a failure to follow through means

Speaker:

that I'm a failure. Instead, it's an opportunity

Speaker:

for me to get curious. Which brings me back to the

Speaker:

podcast, because here's the truth. I am a person

Speaker:

who works better with a boss to report to. But

Speaker:

I am my own boss. And I am far from alone.

Speaker:

So many solo entrepreneurs, speakers and writers are their own

Speaker:

boss. And many of them are wired like me. And no,

Speaker:

not just the ADHD part, although that is very common among

Speaker:

self employed individuals, but also the fact I tend to

Speaker:

put off work that is important but doesn't feel urgent.

Speaker:

So what does it take to pursue a big goal when

Speaker:

my default settings are, well, less than ideal?

Speaker:

It takes trial and error. It's about experimenting with how

Speaker:

best to get my message out there and do it in a way that works.

Speaker:

And it means overcoming all three roadblocks Logical,

Speaker:

biological and psychological. And honestly,

Speaker:

my first roadblock for the change in the direction of this

Speaker:

podcast was definitely psychological.

Speaker:

And not just me being willing to share behind the scenes and be

Speaker:

honest with you about what's working and what is not working, but

Speaker:

also just saying my goal out loud for anyone to hear

Speaker:

1 million people through speaking and writing is not the same as view counts.

Speaker:

It is a difficult milestone to reach and there is a

Speaker:

chance I may not reach it, but it would be

Speaker:

dishonest if I pretended I didn't have the this

Speaker:

goal. I do. I want to have a far reaching

Speaker:

impact. And as for what you can expect, I'm still

Speaker:

finalizing the details of exactly what this will look like episode to

Speaker:

episode, but I want to be transparent. Along the

Speaker:

way I learn a lot from others who share openly

Speaker:

about what's working and what's not, about their successes but also

Speaker:

their struggles. So what is a struggle for me and also

Speaker:

what feels natural. But also I'd like to hear from you.

Speaker:

What do you want me to share as I pursue this ambitious

Speaker:

goal? Please share with me. And the best way is by replying

Speaker:

to my newsletter which if you are not subscribed yet, you can find a

Speaker:

link in the show notes for this episode. As I said earlier, I

Speaker:

will be back to a regular podcast schedule in a couple of

Speaker:

weeks and I really hope you will come along for this ride with

Speaker:

me.
