Faith Over Fear - in Business & Life

One thing I’ve learned time and time again throughout my journey as a business owner & real estate team leader is the importance of choosing faith - believing that you’re on the right path - over fear, which can paralyze you if you’re not careful

Here are 3 takeaways you’ll get if you keep reading...
  • As competitive as business is, you have to begin with the end in mind.
  • You must commit to playing the “long game” in business
  • How to have an attitude of gratitude in your business and life

Doing real estate the traditional way is ridiculously challenging for many reasons. It will rob joy and achievement from the areas of your life that are more important than real estate. If you are a top producing agent or team leader, it’s likely that the business you set up is enslaving you, and maybe you don’t even realize it. If you’re a team leader on top of your role in managing transactions and overseeing operations, it’s especially stressful.

That’s not to say that it can’t be done, though. But it certainly takes an intentional approach and a focus on systems over doing everything yourself. If you’re in the position where real estate is all you eat, breathe, and think, ask yourself this: Is your business creeping into other areas of your life you’d rather it not interfere with? Is it harming your relationships with friends & family, or taking up time you could use for self care?

Take a step back and look at the timeline which you are thinking ofyour business. Are you playing the long game? Playing the long game in business sets you up for success because it allows you to not get distracted by suffering metrics, frantic changes, or other sudden, abrupt changes in the business. We call this “shiny object syndrome” or “chasing squirrels”.

Play the long game by asking yourself this: If I had to build a business that would last 25 years, what decisions would I make today that would get me to that goal?

What if you measured growth differently? Instead of transactions, how about you measure the number of foundational systems installed, systems that will make growth easier in the future, systems that will make your client experience better in the future. That way, instead of squeezing an orange for more juice, you’re busy planting more orange trees that will serve you indefinitely.

And probably most important of all, work to develop attitude of gratitude in your business and personal life. If you’re always looking for things that you’re grateful for, or the wins in your day, you’re going to have your mind surrounded by fulfillment and contentment. If you do this every day like I do, you’ll be so enamored by your business and your personal life, no matter what trials and tribulations you are going through, they won’t be able to cloud out the joy you have!
