Welcome, welcome, welcome. I am Charles Beasley better known as TheBeaz. Hence we have TheBeaz Presents Epoch Visionary. Thank you for coming along here with me and giving me some of your time. I promise you, I will be respectful of your time. In today's episode, what we're going to talk about is quitting can propel you. Quitting can propel you. If you are in a situation where you are not satisfied with what your station is in life right now, and that could be self-esteem, that could be income. That could be job. That could be health. Any of those scenarios that you're not quite satisfied with where you are, if you feel like you are trapped or you feel like you're on the merry-go-round and you can't get off, then the hopes here is that we can give you some things that help you move forward and get to where you want to be.

Before I go there, I'm going to tell you this story that is pretty cool, I think, anyway. The coolest thing I am TheBeaz and everybody in the world has heard of me and you, the listener has heard of me. That's cool in itself yet, there's something more cool than that, and that is that the unborn of those that are yet to come will hear of me because everybody in the world and those that are yet to come are always told the story about the birds and the bees. And that was me.

So now that we have bonded just a little bit, we're going to move forward. The goal of my podcast or this podcast is to encourage you to question, establish points of view and recognize that that is okay to do so. And if you do challenge those that think critically and decide that you might want to go in a different direction and change and pivot and do something, then that would be a good thing because that is what in fact can impact and change your life for the good.

The way that we're going to accomplish that goal though is to tell stories and share stories from people's personal life and interviewing, connecting with different people from all walks of life because everyone has a story to tell. Success leaves clues, and that's a good thing. And as you look through it, you can always say what one man can do another man can. So if he did it, so can I. Let me just figure out what I need to do to move forward and get off of that merry-go-round and we're going to share some things with you to helpfully help you crystallize that and do it for yourself.

These stores will help you discover defining moments in your own life because you can see what happened in others' life. The thing that require you to have vision, to see the point of view, and then take action to make those changes. Once you do that, and you can set off a period of positive change in your life to help you overcome those obstacles that are preventing you from being where you want to be.

Again, whether it's income, whether that be health, whether that be in relationships, whether that be a job, you're going to just see that, and I think it will change your way of thinking for good. Then at that particular point, you too can consider yourself an epic visionary. And we'll dive into that a little bit. We're going to get there today by me sharing my own personal story here and the changes that I made to help me get to where I am today. That's a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful thing, and I'm going to share it with you. Before we get too deep though, I'm going to go ahead and refer to two quotes that I have here.

The first one is you can learn a lot from a dummy. That's why they use them in crash tests. So you've seen the crash test dummies and all the information and data that come from that that can help us protect ourselves in crash tests and helps the dealerships or the companies build better products. So that's what we'll do here. I'm going to be your crash test dummy as we move forward, and hopefully you can glean some information from my personal tragedies, so to speak and not have to do the same thing.

The other quote that I have came from a poster that I read, and I thought this was pretty cool. It says, "The only thing worse than being blind is having sight and no vision." Again, the only thing worse than being blind is having sight and no vision. So if you have sight yet you have no vision, you are worse than a blind man.

We'll come back to that and put it all together and see if it makes sense. I think that you will agree that that is pretty profound. So we're going to start with me. I began in college and when I was in college, I decided that I need to make some money. So I went out and got a full-time job and I was actually in school part-time.

Now the interesting thing of it is that most people that went to college with me assume that I have a college degree, but I do not. And most people that meet me think that I have a college degree yet I do not. As I began to progress in the job and make more money, then it just made it where I did not go to school or not finished school because I was making okay money. But let's go back to the beginning. As I go to work there at HTB Rentals, I start off as a delivery person.

Actually, I was called an account representative yet what I did was deliver furniture, and that would be VCRs. That would be TVs. That would be microwaves. That would be everyday furniture as far as sofas, and couches, and beds, and also deliver refrigerator, some heavy objects and some heavy items. With that being said, once I delivered that furniture, then my goal of my job was to get people to pay on those things that they did rent.

If they did not, then I had to get it back and bring them back in to re-rent it. As I learned though that it's easy to carry money than it is to carry the furniture back and forth. So it helped me hone my skills at being able just to persuade people to do what they said they wanted to do. They bought their furniture for a reason, so just pay for it. And I got them to do that when they were supposed to therefore lowering my delinquency.

That helped me propel myself from being a delivery guy, to being an assistant manager, to managing stores. The gentleman that actually worked with me or hired me, decided to go into his own business and started a rent-to-own store. I went to go to work for him because I was very good at keeping delinquency low. We talked about what the philosophy would be, what my philosophy was or how to attain a good profitable store, keep it moving forward. And I went to work under those premises.

After I got there, he's the owner, it is his football. So he decided that he wanted to be a little bit more gentler in his mind's eye and not necessarily demand or convince people to pay when they want. He was a little bit more lenient with that. That caused delinquency to go up. As delinquency goes up, he's got to spend more money to replace that furniture because he's got to re-rent something and that's not a tenable situation. So he came to me one day and said I have 30 days to fix it. And I said, "I'm not going to do that. I told you what I felt was the philosophy that we needed to do."

So I quit my job. When I quit that job, I had to find another one, but I also had to call my mama and tell, "Mom, I don't have a job." She said, "Why? What you going to do, baby?" I said, "I don't know what I am going to do, but I do know that I'm not going to do that." So as we fast forward, I get another job. Now, I'm in the insurance business. And my job is to sell sickness, disability policies, which is fine. I get to go to Atlanta. They train me for a couple of weeks. I get to read all these books and learn how to make presentations and sell those products to customers and then have to go in and rebut.

We practice all those things, and I was good at it. I started the job and I could make good money doing it. I went on up the ladder. Now, I am a manager of a team and they would hire the people, then they would quit and they would hire the people and they would quit. That caused me to not make a whole lot of money. So it put me in a situation where there needed to be a change or something to move forward. It was so bad at the time that if you've ever been in a situation where you heard a noise out in the parking lot, and you go to the window and peek through the blinds, you see is somebody is taking your car.

I'm not talking about stealing your car, I'm talking about repossessing your car. At that particular point in time, my sister, who is 10 years younger than me, I actually had to borrow some money from her because she got her income tax check and I needed to put a little something on it before they actually came and took my car away.

Now I'm in some dire straits, but as I moved forward and recognized that this wasn't necessarily what I wanted to happen here, I quit that job. So I quit another job in the insurance business. So now I'm looking around not knowing what I'm going to do. Remember, that I do not have a college degree and not having a college degree limited what you could do out there in the workforce. So I began to see people that seem to be living well, having money in their pocket, moving into some nice areas. These people were in the automobile business and sales.

I was like, "Hmm, well, I don't think you have to have a college degree to do that. So it may be something to that." And trust me, when I started on my journey, it wasn't like I said, "I want to go be in the car business." And I do not believe that there are many people out there whoever say that. Most people who are in the car business, in sales did not wake up aspiring to do that all of their life. When we were kids, we were dreaming of being computer science, engineers, or engineers, or doctors and lawyers and all those things.

You and I both know that being a car sales person was not a high on the priority list. Yet, I got in the car business and it actually changed my life. I got in the car business in 1995 and I was very good at selling on the sales floor what we call. I actually moved into my first management role was what they call a business development manager. I did that really well, began to get a little reputation for being good at it. I rolled that job up into being what we call a sales manager.

Then I went from being at a smaller store to a larger stores. I worked in the business office is what we call that, then I also moved on to being a general sales manager. Now, I am the general manager of two very successful car dealerships. My journey has been a long one and it has been very good. Like I said before in 1995, the car industry changed my life for good. And that is a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful thing.

So what I'm going to do now is go to what I call the get down and the get down is part of the music or the part of the song that you can play over, and over, and over ,and over again. It exhilarates you, and if you continue to play that music, it keeps you moving and it puts you in a different place.

In the story that we're going to talk about now that I shared with you, we're going to break these things down. In this scenario, there are three critical points in the story are takeaways that I want you to marinate on and let it just blend in your soul and continue to play these things over, and over, and over. And this is the get down.

Now, number one is to jump off. This is the jump off, which is a different point of view. You've got to recognize that sometimes you have a different point of view than someone else, and it's okay to have that different point of view and actually think critically about certain things. Now, to help you with what I'm saying, we're going to talk about the difference between a goal and an objective. An objective is something that you set that does not change. That is where you want to end up.

So let's use this scenario. Let's suppose we're in South Carolina, which is where I am and we want to fly, or we want to land, or we want to go to Los Angeles, California. We want to end up in Los Angeles, California. The goal is to get on a plane from South Carolina, fly across the northern part of the United States, and we're going to go over the Rocky Mountains. We're going to go over Detroit and that area. As we began to fly the plane over that way, there's a big humongous atmospheric event that says, "You probably don't want to go this way. We decide we're going to change direction and have a new goal of now flying across the southern part of the United States over Texas and whatnot."

Yet, as we began to move toward Texas, there is some engine trouble in the plane, so we have to stop the plane. Now, we're in Indiana. Keeping in mind that our ultimate outcome is still Los Angeles, California. That is where we want to go. So now we get out of the plane and we get on a bus and we go and take the bus. Something goes wrong with the bus. It ain't getting us there quick enough. So now we're going to take the train.

So we've changed direction. We've changed our goal of how to get to our ultimate outcome, but our outcome has not changed. So with that being said, that means you are using your sensory acuity to tell you if you are getting closer to your goal, or if you're getting further away. Sensory acuity simply means your sharp senses. So in this case is sight. Are we able to see, one ,that there's a different point of view in terms of how we want to accomplish something.

Our senses will tell us or should tell us if we're getting closer to our stated outcome, or if we're going further away from that. Then if we are not moving toward our stated outcome, then maybe we need to change course and go in a different direction. So when I was going through those jobs, especially the last one, I said to myself that this is not going in the direction I want to. So in the first job, the different point of view was his point of view was leniency on delinquency. My point of view was we needed to be more firm on delinquency.

Our thought process was, which is the best way to accomplish that? So he also came to me and gave me 30 days to fix it and I told him I wasn't. We had different point of views and it was not going to be the relationship that was necessary. So I quit the first job.

The second job, they thought I was good at the job, and I was good at the job. They thought that if I stuck at the job, that I could better my station with where I was. My point of view was even if I did well in this job, it still was not going to get me to where I want it to be and feel good about self. So we did agree on some parts of that, but ultimately I did not feel like that that opportunity was going to get me to where I ultimately wanted to be. So I decided to quit again and move in a different direction.

That's what sent me to the car business. So the jump off in those scenarios where different points of view based on where we wanted you to go. Then I used my sensory acuity to see that I was not headed in the right direction for where I was, which brings us to point number two, vision. So I got a question for you. My question is, is there a difference between sight and vision? Think about that for a second. Is there a difference between sight and vision? I'm going to get quiet here and let you just think about that for a quick second.

Okay. I am right back. I am right back. I'm going to submit to you that there is a difference between sight and vision. I'm going to move forward and we're going to go to the dictionary and see what is written there. And it says that sight is a function of the eyes, while vision is a function of faith. The second part of that definition is sight is the ability to see things as they are, while vision is the ability to see things as they could be.

So it is not just enough to see the different point of view, but you have to have vision to tell you if there's something more. You have to have vision to see that this is not getting me to where I want to be. What did you envision? Faith is seeing the invisible. I know that this is where I want to go, and you can see what it is. And you know what success looks like. You know what that dollar amount of income that you need to make looks like. You know what the relationship that you're looking for with your family or whatever it is looks like in your mind's eye. That is your vision. That is what you are wanting for.

Again, vision is the ability to see things as they could be. Sight is seeing things as they are. If you have vision that's big enough and you can see it crystal clear in terms of what you want, then that is the thing that will get you to do to take action and get you to where you want to be. But your vision has got to be able to see that and have faith to continue to move forward.

So again, sight is the ability to see things as they are while vision is the ability to see things as they could be. So in both of those scenarios, I knew that there was something bigger than what I wanted than where I was because I was not right with self. I was not right in my income. I was not right in the job. I'm Charles TheBeaz Beasley and I'm struggling. I'm a smart guy and I'm not getting to where I want to be. Everybody is passing me by as I'm getting older, Their incomes are passing me by. Their whole structure is so much better than mine. They seem to be so much more happening.

So my vision, I knew what I wanted and I knew what success looked like to me. So now this is the cool thing right here. You must have vision to be a visionary. You cannot be a visionary without vision. So being a visionary means that you must have vision or you must develop vision.

They take you beyond where you are and then the faith to move forward and do that. Now, which brings us to the third part. So again, the jump off is to recognize and see a different point of view. And then the second part of that is to have vision that propels you to do something different and move forward. So now the third thing that you have to do is you have to take action. That action could be different things. In my case, I quit. I quit two jobs. Remember that. Without knowing what I was going to do and did not have a clue. And my options at the time were kind of limited from what I was looking at.

So the cool thing, or the best thing about me quitting was that it forced me to move and do something to go in a different direction or to do something different than what I was doing. And that is how I found the car business. Remember, as a kid, we didn't grow up thinking about being a car salesman. I promise you that. 95% of the people in the industry did not get there because that's what they aspire to be when they were small. Nor did their parents tell them what you need to do is go sell cars.

But it caused me to look for opportunity. It caused me to take action. It caused me to have to move and do something. So quitting did not stop me. Quitting propelled me. So quitting did not stop me, quitting propelled me. Which brings us to the theme of this episode, which is quitting can propel you. And that is the thing that I want you to take with you today. The get down is that particular part of a story that you need to let marinate in your soul and continue to play that record over, and over, and over again until you get to where you want to be. And a different point of view, vision and action is part of the get down today.

Now, it's okay to be scared about that scenario. It is also okay to be uncertain about it because that is real. Now I know that you know somebody whether it's you or somebody next to you or somebody next to you that's next to them. But there's somebody that we know have encountered in our life who's always saying, "I'm not going to go get another job until I have as long as I got a job. I'm not going to go find me another one, but I ain't going to let that one go until I get one."

Guess what? They tend to be stuck in that rut because they are afraid to take action, because they are holding on to something that they will be better off to let go, and then they could be propelled forward. That could be in your job. That could be in a relationship. It could be that you have a job, but you are afraid to go out and ask them for more responsibility. You're afraid to go out and ask them for more money. You are afraid to go to school because you think that may cost you what you have.

I don't know what that is, but I do know that that is something that keeps people in a rut. And in my personal life, again, I am so thankful that I decided that this is not what I want to do. This is not what I want to see for myself. It is not the path that I began on, yet I had the courage to move forward in the time that I was having to call my mama and tell her that I don't have a job, but I don't know what I am going to do. But I know that I'm not going to do that. And we move forward and that was a great thing.

So all of those things brought me to this point and quitting those jobs were the beginning of the "I am not afraid to quit" epoch. The "I am not afraid to quit" epic in my life, and that's when I said, "If I must move on, I will move on, and I live with the results." That decision created the impetus for me being where I am today. In 1995 to 2021 is a tremendous difference in lifestyle and income and influence and all those things.

Since 1995, I have always been on an upward trajectory in self-esteem in terms of what I got in the bank account and all those things. And just being the person and feeling good about where I am with my job and self-esteem and all those intangibles in life. But that was the thing that got me to the "I am not afraid to quit" epoch, and that is what we're looking for, and that is a wonderful, wonderful feeling. If you want to feel that, then consider the get-down that we talked about.

Now, I got a question for you again, and I'm going to ask you this question, then I'm going to kind of sit back again, and I want you to think about it. Now, I said, epoch, E-P-O-C-H. Not epic. They are two different words and you probably already know that. But nonetheless, I'm just going to throw that out there. Epoch. What is an Epoch? So I want you to think about that real quick and I'll be right back. It won't be long. Don't worry about it. Just think about it. What is an epoch?

Here we go, here we go, here we go. We're back, we're back. I tell you in won't be long. And epoch is a period of time in history of a person's life, typically marked by notable events or particular characteristics. And epoch is a period of time in the history of a person's life, typically marked by notable events or particular characteristics.

So now I'm going to rest on the word, notable events, because the notable events in my story here was the day that we came in to have that conversation about me having 30 days to correct his mistake in terms of philosophy. I can pretty much distinctly remember where we were in the store. I can almost remember them what they he was wearing when he told me that. And I can remember the look on his face when I told him, "I'm out. You handle it. I quit." Again, don't know what I'm going to do, but I'm not doing that. So I quit that day.

I remember that that was a notable event that is seared in my brain. Now, the second time I remember that Sunday sitting on the couch watching my friends walk out of the door going to celebrate the birthday and I didn't have money to go. I remember saying that I didn't feel good because I was embarrassed by the fact that I didn't have money to go take myself much less somebody with me. But I remember that feeling. I remember the conversation when I made the phone call. I remember when the other man called me from Florida to try to persuade or convince me to stay.

Those were notable events, and there were particular characteristics involved in both of those scenarios that brought me to that point. So the epoch that I began, a new period of change in my life was that I am not afraid to quit epoch. So that is what we're talking about, an epoch visionary. And in this case, that was my moment for this scenario. Now, what I'm going to again, share with you again, is the get-down is a big part of the podcast and those are the tidbits that we need to again, play over and over and over and just marinate on and let those things seep into your soul, because those are the actions that are necessary are those... That's the formula that you need to put in there.

Remember what one man can do, another man can, and success definitely leaves clues. So keep your eyes on that. And remember the get-down for this show is quitting can propel you. So I'm going to come back almost full circle and let's look at the quotes that we talked about. You can learn a lot from a dummy. That's why they use the main crash test.

I have crashed what I have not burned. I am still here and had kept moving forward. So hope that you gleaned some points from my life in this scenario that you can apply to yours. And maybe you can use that information and not have to crash in the same way that I did.

The other quote, again, was the only thing worse than being blind is having sight and no vision. Do not be blinded than the blind man. So if you can see developed vision and then you can prepare yourself for it. Again, the only thing worse than being blind is having sight and no vision. And that is pretty profound in itself right there. Don't do that.
