Shownotes

Fondly remembered for wearing his green sweater on the touchline, football legend Brian Clough was outspoken, unpredictable and the best manager England never had.

His trophy-winning teams are still remembered for playing the game in the right way: entertaining, exciting and disciplined.

The Green Jumper is a new podcast for 2021, which will feature brilliant stories and memories from the magical Brian Clough era, with exclusive prizes and offers.

Presented by Marcus Alton, the editor of the tribute website, brianclough.com, this podcast series will look back at football during the Cloughie years, bringing you tales and anecdotes spanning his career as a player and manager. His clubs included Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Hartlepool, Derby County and Nottingham Forest.

Marcus met Old Big 'Ead a number of times, both as a fan and journalist, and has worked closely with Cloughie's family over the years. He was the driving force behind the successful campaign for a bronze statue of the Miracle Manager in Nottingham.

Decades since Brian Clough's remarkable achievements hit the headlines, and with three impressive bronze statues to remind us of his remarkable legacy, supporters of all ages are still entertained by Cloughie stories, including those classic one-liners.

"I wasn't the best manager in the business, but I was in the top one." - Brian Howard Clough
