Wisdom calls aloud outside; She raises her voice in the open
squares. She cries out in the chief concourses, At the openings of the gates in the city She speaks her words:
Solomon. Proverbs 1:20 & 21. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is day 9 of ANOTHER 30 Days of Wisdom. Here’s the really cool thing about these two verses—wisdom is calling out to us everywhere. Why? Because the God of wisdom is constantly reaching out to us, hoping and longing for us to choose the path of life. The path of wisdom. In fact, in these first chapters of Proverbs, wisdom is used as a personified reference to the pre-incarnate Christ, referred to centuries later by the Gospel-writer John, as the Word. The Wisdom of God has been speaking to hearts throughout human history. And that Wisdom continues to murmur in the wind. And echo in the streets.
It can show up in grand lecture halls or the babble of babies. Watch for it. It’s
everywhere. Ya know how, when you purchase a car, you start seeing similar
models everywhere? It’s not like a bunch of folks went car shopping on the same day you did, for the same kind of car—but YOU DID, and now you’re paying attention, so it seems to show up everywhere. God has surrounded every human being with the voice of wisdom. The trick here is learning to pay attention. The more we tune-in, the more we’ll hear that voice calling out in unexpected ways, in unexpected places.
